During the Mufakose 1st Ward Conference, on 12 July 2026, a reorganisation of the ward bishopric took place, marking an important moment in the ward.

The outgoing bishopric had served faithfully under the leadership of Bishop Everisto Nyakushena, with Tinashe Walter Nyabadza as First Counsellor and Douglas Karombodza as Second Counsellor. They were supported by Brother Simon Tanaka Kiss, who served as ward clerk. Their dedication and service greatly strengthened the ward and blessed the lives of many members.

During the conference, a new bishopric was sustained. Douglas Karombodza was called to serve as the new Bishop of the Mufakose 1st Ward with Tinashe Walter Nyabadza as First Counsellor and Prosper Mupumha as Second Counsellor. The new ward clerk is Munashe Alex Tafamba.

The meeting also included testimonies from members of the newly called bishopric, as well as heartfelt remarks from the outgoing Bishop Nyakushena.

In his address, President Zengwe emphasised the importance of sustaining leaders and reminded members that in the Church, it is not where one serves, but how one serves that matters. He echoed teachings shared by Elder Patrick Kearon of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
