Title: "MY SHEEP HEAR MY VOICE" â THE POWER OF DIVINE RECOGNITION
Written by: Adjust Frank Danga
In a noisy world filled with countless voices vying for our attentionâsocial media, society, fear, doubt, and temptationâthere is one voice that stands above them all: the voice of the Shepherd. In John 10:27, Jesus declares, âMy sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.â This simple yet profound statement reveals three foundational truths for every believer: recognition, relationship, and response.
1. Recognition â âMy sheep hear My voiceâ
A sheep doesnât follow just any voiceâit responds only to its shepherd. This means that those who truly belong to Christ are spiritually tuned to hear Him. Not with the ears alone, but with the heart. In the quiet place of prayer, through the reading of the Word, in the gentle nudge of the Holy SpiritâHis voice is present. But are we listening?
To recognize His voice, we must quiet the other noises and lean in with faith. Discernment grows in the secret place where God speaks clearest. His voice brings peace, direction, correction, and assurance. It never contradicts His Word.
2. Relationship â âI know themâ
This is more than surface-level familiarity. Itâs deep, intimate knowledge. Jesus doesn't say, "They know Me,â firstâHe says, "I know them." This speaks of His love, His care, His commitment to each of His own. He knows our weaknesses, fears, struggles, and hopes. We are not strangers or statistics to Himâwe are known individually, personally, lovingly.
This is the heart of the Gospel: God knows you fully and still chooses you completely.
3. Response â âThey follow Meâ
Hearing and knowing must lead to action. His true sheep donât just admire His voice, they follow it. They move when He says move, they stay when He says wait, they obey when itâs hard, and trust when it doesnât make sense. Following Christ is not a one-time decision but a daily surrender.
Itâs in the following that we find green pastures and still waters. Itâs in the following that we are protected from the wolves. And itâs in the following that our purpose unfolds.
Final Thought:
Are you truly one of His sheep? Are you tuned to His voice or distracted by many? Do you live in the confidence that you are known by Him? Are you responding in obedience and faith?
In every season of life, the Shepherd is speaking. Whether through storms or stillness, His voice never fails. Listen. Trust. Follow. For the voice of the Shepherd always leads to life.
âMy sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.â
