Daily Reflections with Bishop Vushebwashe Mhaka

*11/06/26 Thursday Psalm 107:1.* _Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; His love endures forever._ *Context: Psalm 107:1–3.* Thanking God for His Unchanging Goodness. The psalmist gives two reasons for thanksgiving: God is good and His love endures forever. Human circumstances change, people change, and seasons change, but God's goodness and steadfast love remain constant.
Israel often experienced hardship, exile, and uncertainty, yet God's covenant love never failed. Likewise, our lives may include struggles and disappointments, but God's goodness is not determined by our circumstances. He remains faithful even when we cannot see the full picture.
Thanksgiving rooted in God's character is stronger than thanksgiving rooted in temporary blessings. When we thank God because He is good, our praise remains steady in every season.
Let us worship God today not only for what He has done, but for who He is. God's goodness is constant even when life's circumstances are not.

Daily Reflections with Bishop Vushebwashe Mhaka

*10/06/26 Wednesday Ephesians 5:20* _Always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ._ *Context Verses: Ephesians 5:18–21.* A Lifestyle of Thanksgiving. Paul teaches believers to give thanks always and for everything. This does not mean we thank God for evil or suffering itself, but that we trust God even in difficult circumstances because He is able to work all things for good.
Thanksgiving is one of the marks of a Spirit-filled life. Complaining focuses on problems, while thanksgiving focuses on God's presence and promises. A thankful Christian recognizes that every blessing, opportunity, and victory comes from the Father through Jesus Christ.
When gratitude becomes a daily habit, our perspective changes. We begin to see God's hand in ordinary moments and His grace in unexpected places. Such thanksgiving deepens our faith and brings peace to our hearts.
Today, choose gratitude over grumbling and praise over pessimism. The grateful believer sees God's goodness where others see only obstacles.

Daily Reflections with Bishop Vushebwashe Mhaka

*09/06/26 Tuesday Psalm 9:1* _I will give thanks to You, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all Your wonderful deeds._ *Context Verses: Psalm 9:1–2.* Wholehearted Thanksgiving. David does not merely say that he will give thanks; he declares that he will do so with all his heart. True thanksgiving is not a routine exercise but a response that comes from a heart overwhelmed by God's goodness. Often we thank God when things go well, but David teaches us to thank God because of who He is and because of His faithfulness throughout our lives.
A thankful heart remembers God's wonderful deeds. When we deliberately recall God's protection, provision, forgiveness, and guidance, gratitude naturally grows. Thanksgiving is therefore both worship and testimony. As we tell others what God has done, our faith is strengthened and God is glorified.
Today, let us refuse half-hearted praise. Let every word, action, and prayer reflect gratitude to the God who has never failed us. A heart full of gratitude leaves no room for bitterness.

Rev Dr Aynos Moyo aka Mpfuhwira, the Guru and Mrs following proceedings. His presence at the Hatfield Congtegation greatly enriches not just the congregation but the student pastor community who still are able to draw from his wealth of Theological knowledge which they can still draw from despite his retirement from teaching at both the University of Zimbabwe and the United Theological Colledge. First year theological students at the United Theological Colledge have to attend church at the Hatfield Parish as part of their training.

It was one hour of listening while Muchanyara captured the attention of all as she spoke to the environment using the scriptures they were familiar with and yet hardly used in environmental preservation and protection and optimal natural resource use.
Our resources to preserve and utilise optimally include even the human side, our children who need nurturing for optimality, not just the natural resources. Yes, even the food we eat, what or how matters.
