Mat 16:13-16 KJV 13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, "Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?" 14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. 15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? 16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
-Jesus never imposed himself on people.
-He never moved around telling people that he was the Christ, the son of the living God.
-It was through what he taught and what he did that many came up with different interpretations of who he was.
-Jesus had a group of Disciples that were always with him, and he was depositing and investing much more on them than the rest of the people.
-Then came a moment when he wanted to hear what people were saying concerning him.
-He asked them whom do men say that I am, as if he wanted to know what men were saying, yet he wanted to hear if having Disciples around him was of any help to the disciples. Jesus is comparing those that are far and those that were drawn closer to him, between the two who has a better understanding of who he was.
-Thank God Peter answered, and that proved that indeed Jesus had done a work in investing on those close to him.
-When Jesus is pulling us to himself, he wants us to know more about who he is.
-Never let those that are far interpret Jesus better than the ones close.
