Jesuits Zimbabwe Catholic Church Religious Order, the Society of Jesus in Zimbabwe Founded in the 16th Century by St Ignatius Loyola.

Vision: A responsible, available, discerning, international religious order
that strives to build and further the Kingdom of God in Zimbabwe. The first Jesuit to come to Zimbabwe was Gonçalo da Silveira in 1560 who came to the court of Monomutapa where he was killed. In 1879 more Jesuits arrived to found the Zambezi mission. Currently there are 123 Jesuits in Zimbabwe of whom 75 were born in Zimb

abwe, with a further 82 young Jesuits from other African countries studying at Arrupe College in Harare.
