Support for Christonbank Primary School phase 2.
We are delighted to share an update on the second phase of our marathon proceeds.
In the first phase, we purchased much-needed furniture for the school.
In this second phase, we successfully fenced off ¾ of a hectare to establish a nutrition garden — a project aimed at supporting the school with sustainable food production.
The entire fencing project was fully funded by SSVP and was officially handed over to the school by our Parish Priest, Fr C. Muropa.
The vision behind the nutrition garden is to empower the school to run self-help projects while also growing vegetables to feed the children and improve their wellbeing.
It is truly amazing how something as simple as a marathon can change lives and bring hope to so many.

We are already looking forward to another exciting Marathon in 2026.

Support for Christonbank Primary School.
Phase 1

Early in year 2025 the Society of St Vincent de Paul (SSVP) family, laced up their running shoes for a cause close to our hearts — the “Pace for Purpose: Run to Educate a Child” Half Marathon.

Thanks to the generous support of participants, parishioners, and friends, the proceeds were dedicated to Christonbank Primary School, where many children learn in very difficult conditions.
Phase One of this initiative was completed — and we are overjoyed to share that new chairs for teachers and pupils were delivered and presented to the school!
These chairs will provide comfort and dignity in classrooms that have long struggled with inadequate furniture.

This is more than just furniture — it is a symbol of hope, compassion, and community solidarity. Every step, every runner, every donation made a difference.

We thank everyone who supported this mission — from the runners to the donors, volunteers, and our friends at Christonbank who welcomed us with joy.

Together, we continue the spirit of “serving in hope” — building brighter future for children.

As SSVP we are thrilled to share the success of our maize project in Christonbank, made possible by the generous support of Arrupe Jesuit University Solidarity with the poor, and our long-time partners Solidarity with the poor!

Thanks to their partnership, we've had a bountering harvest of 4 tonnes of maize, which will go directly to supporting the needy in our community.

A huge thank you to Fr Roland Von Nidda and the team at Solidarity with the poor for their tireless efforts and for cultivating a spirit of ownership among our beneficiaries. Your dedication to serving the community is truly inspiring!

We are grateful for the opportunity to work together to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it most.
