Brother Richard carried on with teaching this week and he shared on-
The Hope that We Have.
For Jesus to walk out of the tomb, suffering and death had to take place first.
As God shapes us into His image, we will certainly experience suffering in our flesh as ungodly elements of our character are put to death by the work of the Holy Spirit, but we must never forget the resurrection - without that we have no hope.
We don’t get to choose our own way.
To serve the Lord we need to accept His plan and His way.
Romans 5:8
“This is how we know love. That’s whilst we were still sinners Christ died for us.”
1 John 4:10
“Is this is love, not that we lived God, but that he loved us , that he sent his son to die for our sins…”
God loves us and he shows no favouritism. The Lord knows each one of us and what we need. He loves us all equally.
The cross he took for all.
The Lord wants to make us like him.
That is why he needs to break us and bring us to a place of humility because he wants to trust us with his life.
God wants to use us but it has to be in the context of humility and brokenness so that we can be effective.
1 Peter 5:5-11
Galatians 5:16
We must not allow the trials of this life and the testing of our faith to bring us to a place where we are miserable.
The fruit of walking in the spirit is joy and peace.
The Lord is desires there to be joy in our service.
We must abandon the pursuit of the happiness that the world offers.
It’s not what we are called to run after.
The goal and the purpose of our lives is not just to be happy.
If it’s our goal - we will fail.
However, as we walk in the spirit and we produce the fruit of the spirit in our lives, will we not be joyful?
We will be filled with joy which is a by product of a life lived in the spirit. It is the fruit of obedience.
