Sunday 10th May 2026 With Bishop O. Sasa
Topic: THE BLESSING OF A MOTHER.
Anchor Scriptures: Proverbs 1:8; Proverbs 14:1
Sermon Objectives:
1.Recognize motherhood as a divine calling and sacred honor bestowed by God, not merely a natural role.
2. Appreciate the value and sacrifices of mothers in homes, churches, and society.
3. Understand the spiritual influence of a mother in shaping faith, character, discipline, and destiny.
The sermon emphasized that motherhood is a divine calling and sacred responsibility bestowed by God. A woman does not appoint herself into the office of motherhood; it is an honor conferred by Jehovah. Mothers are among God’s greatest gifts to humanity because through them many first experience love, comfort, sacrifice, prayer, discipline, and guidance.
We celebrated all mothers—biological mothers, spiritual mothers, grandmothers, widows, guardians, and every woman who has nurtured life and destiny. Mothers often carry unseen burdens, endure silent battles, and make sacrifices that shape generations. Many homes still stand today because a mother refused to give up.
The message showed that motherhood carries kingdom dignity, as God used the image of a mother to describe His comfort in Isaiah 66:13. Mothers are builders of homes, preservers of destiny, and shapers of future generations.
Key Blessings of a Mother Highlighted:
1. The Blessing of Impartation of Grace and Faith
Using The Holy Bible, the examples of Lois and Eunice showed that sincere faith can be transferred across generations. Their godly legacy helped shape Timothy into a strong servant of God.
Lesson: The greatest inheritance may not be money, but living faith.
2.The Blessing of Discernment of Destiny Early
Through The Holy Bible, Rebekah discerned the destiny of Jacob before others did and sought his advancement.
Lesson: Many mothers see greatness in their children before the world recognizes it.
3.The Blessing of Godly Instruction and Wise Counsel
From Proverbs 1:8 and Proverbs 6:20, the sermon taught that a mother’s instruction is often protective, not punitive. Her counsel can save children from painful and costly mistakes.
Lesson: A wise mother can spare a child from expensive errors.
4.The Blessing of Building a Home
From Proverbs 14:1, every wise woman builds her house through wisdom, peace, discipline, and godly values. Homes may be built with bricks, but they are often sustained by mothers.
The opposite was also warned: foolishness, harsh words, conflict, neglect, and wrong influences can damage a home.
5).The Blessing of Prayer and Dedication
Using the example of Hannah in The Holy Bible, the message showed how prayerful mothers can raise destiny children. Her prayers brought forth Samuel, who became a prophet and national leader.
Lesson: Some children rise because their mother first cried before God.
Closing Charge
Mothers must never be treated as ordinary. They are builders of homes, carriers of grace, teachers of wisdom, preservers of destinies, and vessels of divine influence. Nations, churches, and families become stronger when mothers are honored.
JESUS IS LORD.
