R.I.P Fr Brian Enright SJ
The Southern Africa Jesuits announces the death of Fr Brian Enright SJ in Harare on the 3rd of October 2023.
Fr Enright was born in a Catholic family in London, England in 1937.
Came out to Zimbabwe in 1964 as a scholastic
Fr Enright taught Physics at St George's College, Harare, Zimbabwe
Returned to Zimbabwe as a Priest in 1968
Went to Zambia for his Tertianship in 1969
Worked at St. Ignatius College, Chishawasha from 1970 to 1983 teaching Science and Maths while acting as Deputy Headmaster and Sports Master.
Served as Secretary to Archbishop Chakaipa from the early 1980s
He served as Parish Priest at Makumbi Mission for a year and Our Lady of the Wayside Parish for a year also in the mid 1990s
Went back to St Ignatius College and served as Rector for 9 years
Served again as Secretary to Archbishop Robert Christopher Ndlovu when he took over the shepherding of the Archdiocese.
He was replaced as Secretary by Fr Patrick Ngwenya who was his altar server during the years he served under Archbishop Chakaipa.
