VERSE
Galatians 5:16 (KJV) This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

INSPIRATION
I would love to be on a beach eating a steak right now. I would love to fly in private jets and be a powerful leader. I would love to live forever and never be judged for my actions on earth. Wouldn’t you? These temptations are so difficult to resist, but so meaningless in the grand scheme of things: resist them, learn, spread love, and leave everything else to God.

PRAYER
To the one true God, I thank you for giving me the abilities to think, feel, and love. I will do all that I can to live by the Holy Spirit and let the Spirit flow through me and unto others. I pray that You aid me in times when I am weak, giving into the secular pleasures that this world offers. Through faithful practice and with Your love, I know that all things are possible, my Lord. In your holy name I pray. Amen.

VERSE
2 Corinthians 9:11 (KJV) Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God.

INSPIRATION
It is tempting to hoard what we receive – especially when we feel we have earned it. However, we must recognize that all good things come from God. These enrichments are gifts from the Lord, and they are not meant to be hoarded. Instead, we should use the bounty we have been blessed with to bless others. When we give to charities or the church to help those in need, our generosity will cause others to thank God.

PRAYER
Dear God, we know that all good things come from You. You have blessed us with more than we need. Forgive us for the times we have been selfish and have not used what we have been given to help others. Give us generous hearts so that we may bless others so they will thank you, O Lord. Thank you for all You have given. May we use this bounty to bring others to You. In Jesus’ name, amen.

VERSE
Hebrews 13:2 (KJV) Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

INSPIRATION
We should always be mindful of the people we come across in our lives. Whether they share the same beliefs as us, we should never treat someone badly. As Christians, we should allow the love in our hearts to lead us in treating everyone warmly. In times of the Old Testament, people would entertain guests and some of those guests turned out to be angels. Be kind to everyone you come across – angel or not. It’s the best way to express the love of God within us.

PRAYER
Dear God, I pray that I will be loving and accommodating to every person I come across – regardless of the differences we may share. Lord, may I reflect your love in the way I treat my brothers and sisters in the Lord, and those who may not know you. When I come across strangers, may my heart be welcoming towards them. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

VERSE
Ecclesiastes 9:18 (KJV) Wisdom is better than weapons of war: but one sinner destroyeth much good.

INSPIRATION
It has often happened in the history of man's warfare that a clever strategy has won against superior equipment. But that is still earthly wisdom. In the spiritual realm, the wisdom of God found in Scripture is mightier than all the weapons of the enemy. But in any work for God, one sinner left unchecked, and in a position of authority especially, can cause great harm.

PRAYER
Yours, Lord, is the true wisdom. Your wisdom is little esteemed, even despised by men, but the supposed wisdom of man is foolishness in Your sight. Godly wisdom will teach us to depart from iniquity, but one sin clinging stubbornly to our hearts can wreak havoc in our lives even when we have much godly wisdom. Amen

VERSE
Psalms 80:19 (KJV) Turn us again, O LORD God of hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

INSPIRATION
We can thank God that this plea has already been answered and fulfilled. God restored us and saved us through His son, Jesus Christ, and now we can stand confident in righteousness and holiness. We can call God our Father, and we can live this life with joy, because of what Christ did for us when He came to this earth. We no longer have to beg God to restore us because we have already been restored.

PRAYER
Dear God, I thank you for answering my pleas even before I needed to cry out. Thank you for taking care of the greatest thing my life needed – salvation. I am grateful, Lord, for the total restoration in my life. It is a privilege that I do not take for granted, Father. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

VERSE

Luke 1:46 (KJV) And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord,

INSPIRATION

Mary was perhaps placed in one of the most unique positions in human history. Not only was she called upon by the Lord through the Angel Gabriel, not only was she the center of the most miraculous birth ever conceived. She was also (in sharp contrast to our conceptions of children today) both Jesus’s mother as well as her son’s servant and holy follower. Born from her flesh but raised above it, to become the Son of man, this experience runs counter to all of what we might think of as involved in motherhood. If Mary could do this, then we surely can find ways of incorporating the Lord and its word into our own lives, no matter how challenging, how counter-intuitive to our sensibilities. For as Mary, our responsibility is to the greater good of God.

PRAYER

The main evidence that a Christian is truly a child of God, is that they follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. We receive instructions from God, through the Holy Spirit. To turn down those instructions is to disobey God. Children are not to disobey their father. Obedience is part of an expression of our faith in God. We cannot just claim with our mouths that we are children of God. We have to live it in our lives, too, as a result of the salvation we received. Amen

VERSE

Hebrews 1:3 (KJV) Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

INSPIRATION

All things were created by God. Without Him, nothing would come into being. Jesus was the express image of God, a direct representation of God. He is the light of the world, and this verse is designed to show just how brightly he shined. Through the brightness of His glory and with the power of His words, Jesus forgave all of our sins. This radiance and word has lasted for thousands of years, and has given all of us a chance to rejoice with Him and God in Heaven.

PRAYER

Father in Heaven, hallowed be thy name. I give thanks for Your son, Jesus Christ, whose brightness still lights up the earth. Give me the wisdom to listen, learn, and act according to Your holy word, O Lord, and the patience to keep faith when darkness enters my heart. I long for the day I shall join the light of my world in heaven. Amen.
