BE WATCHFUL AND PRAY

Colossians 4:2
"Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;"

"Watch and pray.” The word translated “watch” means “to have the alertness of a guard at night.” A night watchman must be even more vigilant than a daytime guard.

We are easily distracted by this world, our fleshly needs and desires, and the schemes of the enemy.

"Watch and pray.” We can only remain faithful when we are devoted to prayer. In prayer, we continually allow God to forgive us, cleanse us, teach us, and strengthen us to obey Him.
In order to keep watch, we must pray for endurance and freedom from distractions.

Becky Sweat says this about PRAYER: prayer is our lifeline to God, guiding our steps and shaping our lives. Through daily communication with Him, we find peace, clarity, and a deeper connection to what truly matters.
Prayer is a vital part of a Christian’s life, serving as our direct line of communication with God. It allows us to present our needs, express gratitude, deepen our faith, intercede for others, and align our hopes with God’s greater plan, ultimately strengthening our relationship with Him.

Remember that we can not watch effectively if we are not diligent in prayer.

This keeps us ready at all times to meet the bridegroom who is Christ who will come back like a thief in the night for no man knows the hour or the day that Christ will return.

Amen.

REMEMBER WHAT YOU HAVE RECEIVED AND HEARD

Revelation 3:3
"Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; obey it, and repent. But if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come."

Warning!!
What are we doing with what we have already received and heard from the Word of God?
Have we repented?
Have we awakened from our spiritual slumber?
Have we put on the new man and are being renewed in the spirit of of our mind?

We need to submit to the spirit of God and allow the word of God to take root in our hearts and be doers of the word by allowing the Holy Spirit to teach us.

This is not the time to be asleep. For the word of God tells us to redeem the time for the days are evil; To walk circumspectly in this dark world.

The time is well spent and we need to be saved and ready, watching and praying to meet the bridegroom.
Let's learn from the five wise virgins who did not take things for granted but they brought extra flasks of oil along with their lit lamps. At midnight they were able to trim their lamps with the extra oil they carried.
This foresight and preparation allowed them to enter in with the bridegroom while the five foolish virgins who were relaxed and complacent, did not make it in as the door was shut.

Let's be wise and not fail to prepare for the return of our Saviour and Lord, Jesus Christ.

Amen.

BE A CHANNEL OF BLESSING

Proverbs 11:25-26
"The person who gives to others will get richer; the one who helps others will himself be helped. People will curse the one who hides grain and refuses to sell it, but they will praise the one who sells it to feed others."

In life, it's not just about accumulating blessings; it's about becoming conduits through which blessings flow.
When we position ourselves as channels, to share what we've received, we create space for more blessings to flow into our lives.

By becoming channels of blessing, we align ourselves with God's purpose for our lives and open the door for His abundant provision.

You don't have to wait until you have in abundance to bless others. You start from where you are, with what you have.

It may begin with giving a small gift, lending a helping hand, availing yourself to listen to someone's problems or pain, and even just sharing a kind word, giving of your time or support, every act of kindness positions you as a channel through which God's blessings can flow.

Life is not about being selfish, stingy, self-centred, hostile towards others, indifferent to what others may be going through, etc.

Remember: 2 Corinthians 9:8
"And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work."

Amen.

🙏 A Continuing Call to Prayer for Zimbabwe

As Parliament continues deliberations on the Constitution of Zimbabwe Amendment (No. 3) Bill (CAB 3) this week, the Zimbabwe Council of Churches once again calls upon churches, citizens, and all people of goodwill to remain steadfast in prayer for our nation.

Scripture reminds us that leadership carries a sacred responsibility to serve the people with wisdom, humility, and justice. The Bible offers sobering lessons when leaders ignore counsel and govern contrary to the welfare and aspirations of the people:

King Rehoboam rejected the people's plea for relief, resulting in a divided kingdom (1 Kings 12). King Saul's disobedience brought instability to the nation (1 Samuel 15). King Uzziah's pride led to his downfall (2 Chronicles 26). Even King Nebuchadnezzar was humbled when pride displaced accountability (Daniel 4).

These biblical accounts are moral instructions, reminding all who exercise authority that power must be guided by humility, accountability, and service to the common good.

As the parliamentary debates continue, let us pray that all decisions made will uphold constitutionalism, justice, national unity, and the aspirations of the people of Zimbabwe. May wisdom prevail over expediency, and may the voice of the people be heard and respected.

"Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord." - Psalm 33:12

THE HOLY SPIRIT TO CHANGE THINGS WHEN YOU FEEL DRY AND HEAVY WITHIN

MATTHEW 3:11 (KJV)
11 "I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance. But he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire".

When your life is dry and heavy, and you do not know what to do, the baptism of the Holy Spirit, is your answer. The baptism of the Holy Spirit will help you to overcome the negative traits that are robbing you of your joy, peace, spiritual fervour, etc.

It is written in the Scriptures that the Spirit is given to those who obey Him. It will not help you to just wait for something to happen. Rather read your Bible, even if it seems dry, and resist the push to succumb to the urge to sin or fail in those times of temptation, eg. becoming angry and irritated, being easily provoked.

We see for example, what happened with Peter on the day of Pentecost after that memorable experience.
He rose up in boldness and power and suddenly the authority of the word of God came alive and he addressed the crowd, drawing their attention.

The Spirit's revelation will help you from God's Word when you come into difficult situations or challenges, to arise in boldness and power to overcome and be on fire because you have been baptized with the Holy Spirit.

Jesus wants to baptize us with both the Holy Spirit and fire. As we follow the Spirit's workings, we will suffer, and that was what Jesus meant by the fire. It is the suffering that follows when we do the good. Just as when the disciples were instructed to make disciples of all nations. This meant that they had to leave their comfort zone and start to journey, that is to various towns and people that involved tribulation ('fire'). They had to turn to the power within, received by the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

And even though we have been baptized with the Holy Spirit, we constantly need a new fullness to remain strong and above.

That’s why we have such exhortations as:
Ephesians 5:18-20 (NIV)
18 "Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, 20 always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ."

And that’s what will happen when we earnestly pray to be filled anew, and practice what we read in the bible.

Amen.

WHOLESOME SPEECH IS NECESSARY FOR BELIEVERS

COLOSSIANS 4: 5-6
"Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity.
Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone."

The way we come across to others is very important especially to outsiders. Those who are not yet of the household of faith.

The Outsiders should be won over by both our lifestyle and conduct as well as by our speech. The way we converse should be seasoned with salt which means that basically, wisdom and grace must govern our conversations.
Proverbs 23:7 tells us, "as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he”
Therefore ensure that the Word of God dwells in you richly, so that you are renewed in the spirit of your mind, thus influencing the words that come out of your mouth.

We have need of a great deal of wisdom and grace to give proper answers to every man, particularly in answering the questions and objections of adversaries against our Faith.
Be ready always to give an answer to every man who asks the reason for your faith, showing wisdom and patience with meekness and reverence.

Amen.

MAKE THE LORD GOD YOUR HABITATION

PSALM 91:9-10
"Because thou hast made the LORD, which is thy refuge, even the Most High, thy habitation;
There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways."

Dwelling in the presence of God is always spoken about as being in the best place you can be.
You are protected and spiritually sustained.

I love that the above passage speaks of making God your refuge, even your habitation.

Definitions:
Refuge - Place of safety and protection. Shelter or relief from danger or anxiety.
Habitation - Dwelling place, house, tabernacle.

Making the Lord your refuge is making the Lord your trust and hope.
You retreat into God by relinquishing all worry, fear and anxiety to rest in the Lord by embracing His promises while meditating on His word daily.

Additionally, making God your habitation is making God your dwelling place, which means maintaining a constant, conscious awareness of His presence and finding your ultimate security in Him rather than in external circumstances.
You can cultivate this spiritual habit through daily prayer, scripture meditation, obedience to His teachings, and by resting securely in His love.

When you achieve the above, you can rest, for no evil will come near you. Neither shall any sickness come near your place of refuge, your shelter, your dwelling place.

This is the reason we need to take our daily walk seriously and allow God to take centre stage in every area of our lives.
We must see the practicality of the word and apply it as our lifestyle without wavering.

Amen.

GOD'S OWN SPECIAL PEOPLE, A ROYAL PRIESTHOOD

1 PETER 2:9
"But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light".

1 Peter 2:9 describes the identity and purpose of believers in Jesus Christ, highlighting their unique position and calling within God's plan.

We are called and encouraged as believers to live out our identity and calling.

It is important that we embrace our identity in Christ and walk in it to enjoy the benefits of walking and living in the spirit.

ROYAL PRIESTHOOD
Believers have direct access to God, similar to the priests of the Old Testament, and are to worship Him with all their hearts and offer up the sacrifices aligned with New Testament Believers that are acceptable to God.

A CHOSEN GENERATION
Believers are chosen by the Lord to fulfil their calling and bear much fruit. To establish the Kingdom of God in the hearts of men.

A HOLY NATION
Believers are set apart for service unto the Lord and their fellowmen.

GOD's special possession/people:
Believers are uniquely loved and cherished by God. They belong to the family of God and are to live surrendered lives.

To proclaim the excellencies of him... :
God's purpose for calling Believers and awarding them the "chosen status" is so that they share the goodness and glory of God through their worship and conduct and testimony, bringing the message of salvation to the world.

Amen.

HOW TO SUCCEED AND LEAD A VICTORIOUS CHRISTIAN LIFE

PSALM 1
"Blessed is the man
Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
Nor stands in the path of sinners,
Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
3 He shall be like a tree
Planted by the rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season,
Whose leaf also shall not wither;
And whatever he does shall prosper.
4 The ungodly are not so,
But are like the chaff which the wind drives away.
5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment,
Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
6 For the Lord knows the way of the righteous,
But the way of the ungodly shall perish"

This is a great psalm that gives
us wisdom and direction
in leading a rewarding and prosperous Christian life.

It starts off by naming out three groups of company to avoid as a Christian, for they corrupt the soul.

Secondly, it reveals how to be consistent and mature in your Christian walk.

How to grow and be prosperous in what you do and be saved at the end of time.

Another passage of scripture that aligns to this, is Joshua 1:8.

Align your life to Psalm 1, and be blessed.

Amen.
