*RETIRING IN THE VILLAGE*
_Article by Lambert_
There is a quiet migration that takes place every year. No headlines. No farewell tours. No brass band.
Just a man packing his life into a few boxes and declaring, with the certainty of a returning king: “I am going home.”
Home.
A place he has not lived in for thirty years.
A place where his last official duty was fetching water as a boy.
Now he arrives with a suitcase, a pension, and urban habits that bewilder even the livestock.
The reality is plain: *Visiting the village once a year for Christmas is not the same as living there.*
Christmas is a festival.
Retirement is a full-time commitment.
They are fundamentally different environments.
During Christmas, one arrives as an honored guest. Livestock is prepared. Relatives emerge from all directions. One eats, laughs, and offers expert commentary on national affairs. Then one departs.
It is a powerful, but temporary, experience.
Remove the celebrations. Remove the audience. Remove the sense of occasion.
What remains is Tuesday.
And this is where the narrative changes.
*The village has not been waiting.*
It has continued to evolve, quietly and without external supervision.
The people you knew have aged. Some are gone. Others now hold positions of authority and may not regard you as significant. Even childhood nicknames have been reassigned.
You are not returning.
You are arriving.
For many, that arrival is complex.
Particularly for those who never went back. Not for holidays. Not for funerals. Not for any reason. They built their entire existence in the city. Their networks, habits, and lifestyles are urban.
Then, one day, they relocate.
That is not retirement.
That is migration.
Suddenly, everything is unfamiliar.
The silence is profound. The nights are long. The community is close-knit. Everyone knows you, yet you know no one. Even the food requires adjustment.
In the city, you managed systems. Water flowed. Electricity functioned. Food was procured on schedule.
In the village, water has its own timing. Electricity is unpredictable. Food requires direct engagement with the land or market.
Then there is the matter of *time.*
In the city, you were occupied. Meetings. Traffic. Deadlines. Constant activity.
In the village, time expands. Morning becomes afternoon without notice. You sit. You stand. You sit again. You begin recalling matters long forgotten.
*This is where many begin to decline. Not abruptly. Gradually.*
Because retirement without structure is not rest. It is disorientation.
The body slows. The mind drifts. Purpose diminishes. And a man without purpose becomes vulnerable to ill health. Minor ailments become significant. Significant ailments become permanent. Some do not endure long, not because the village is harsh, but because the transition was unprepared.
There is another category. They survive, but they are not content.
They live in constant comparison: “In the city, we used to…” Indeed. In the city, there was also pressure, noise, and financial obligation. But memory is a selective narrator.
So they sit. Complaining. Regretting. Observing life as if they arrived late to their own story.
Some even struggle. Because pension is not infinite. Farming is not a hobby to commence at seventy without experience. The soil does not recognize former titles. Hunger does not respect past achievements. Illness does not negotiate with memories of success.
*Therefore, the lesson is straightforward.*
If you intend to return home one day, begin the process now.
Not for festivities. For ordinary days.
Go when nothing is happening. Sit. Listen to the silence. Allow it to unsettle you early.
Learn the rhythm before it becomes your only rhythm.
Cultivate relationships not dependent on your arrival with gifts. Understand how the community functions when you are not being celebrated.
*Retirement is not the time to learn how to live. It is the time to continue a life you have already practiced.*
Visit often. Stay longer. Become comfortable with stillness.
Let the village cease to be a destination and become familiar territory.
So that when the day comes to say, “I am going home,” you are not speculating.
You are returning to a place that knows you.
And, more importantly, to a place you understand.
*The village is a good place. Peaceful. Grounded. Honest.*
*But only for the man who arrives prepared.*
The unprepared spend their final years attempting to adjust to a life that never adjusted to them.

🔥Trusting God In The Adullam 🔥

Sometimes that simple “Lord, I trust You.” is enough.

When the future is unclear.
When the waiting feels long.
When prayers seem unanswered.
And when life does not go according to plan.

We may not understand everything God is doing, but we can trust His heart.

Trust that He sees what we cannot see.
Trust that He knows what we do not know.
Trust that He is working, even when nothing seems to be changing.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” Proverbs 3:5

So today, instead of trying to figure everything out, we place it in God’s hands.
While we’re in the Adullam season..it might be painful ,heavy and difficult..all we need to do is stay put in the Secret Place and trust The Master.

The worries.
The plans.
The unanswered questions.
The future.
Trust The Lord.

Lord, I trust You. Lead where You want me to go, teach me to wait on Your timing, and help me find peace in knowing that You are in control.

Even when I cannot see the whole path ahead, I choose to believe that Your plans are good, Your timing is perfect, and Your grace will be enough for every step. Amen.

🔥 THE MONTH OF JUNE WILL OBEY YOU
This month will not fight against you.

June will not bring you sorrow.
June will not bring you shame.
June will not bring you disappointment.

Instead, this month will cooperate with God's plan for your life.

🔥 THE MONTH OF JUNE WILL OBEY YOU.

Every day of this month will work in your favor.
Every week will carry blessings.
Every opportunity assigned to you will locate you.

I pray for you:

May June obey your prayers.
May June obey your expectations.
May June obey God's promises concerning your life.

Where you have experienced rejection, may you find acceptance.
Where you have experienced delay, may you encounter speed.
Where you have experienced lack, may you receive abundance.

This month, you will not be stranded.
You will not be forgotten.
You will not labor in vain.

Before June comes to an end, may God give you a testimony that will make you forget the pain of previous months.

🔥 "JUNE WILL OBEY ME." 🔥

NEW MONTH, SAME FAITHFUL GOD.

This June, it’s going to be a “God did it.” month—

Not by human effort alone.
Not by perfect plans.
Not by our own strength.

But by God’s grace showing up at the right time.

For the things we’ve been praying for.
For the doors we cannot open ourselves.
For the breakthroughs we’ve been waiting for in silence.

This month will be a reminder that God is still working behind the scenes. If He has provided before, He will surely do it again.

“What is impossible with man is possible with God.” Luke 18:27

So we walk into June with faith, not fear. With expectation, not doubt. And when things begin to unfold, we will not forget who made it happen.

Lord, let this be a month of testimonies — where every answered prayer points back to You.

As this new month begins, this is my desire: “Bless my June, Lord.”

I may not understand everything that happened in the past months, but I still choose to trust You.

Even when I cannot trace where life is leading, help me remember that You have never failed me before.

Teach me to rest instead of worry, to pray instead of fear, and to trust that every closed door, delay, and redirection has a purpose in Your plan.

When my heart feels overwhelmed, remind me that Your presence is enough to carry me through every season.

“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” — Exodus 14:14

May this June bring peace where there was heaviness, healing where there was pain, clarity where there was confusion, and provision where there was lack.

Lord, bless my June. Guide my steps, protect my heart, strengthen my faith, and help me trust You more each day.
Let Your will be done.

“Lord, have Your way this June”

A new month, a fresh start, and a heart that chooses surrender again.

Not my will.
Not my control. Not my timing.
But Yours alone.

Let Your will lead every step, every decision, and every direction this month.

When things feel unclear, be the peace that steadies the heart. When choices feel heavy, be the wisdom that guides the way.

Remove anything that is not aligned with Your purpose. Open doors that lead closer to Your will, and gently close the ones that are not meant to stay.

“Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this…” - Psalm 37:5

Draw every heart closer to You this June. Let distractions fade and faith grow stronger. Let every day be shaped by Your grace and every path be led by Your hand.

Lord, take full control of this month. Let it reflect Your goodness, Your timing, and Your perfect plan.
Keep me close to You, and remind me that as long as You are in control, I have nothing to fear.

Amen.
