Defeating the backsliding spirit

Jeremiah 2:19 Thine own wickedness shall correct thee, and thy backslidings shall reprove thee: know therefore and see that it is an evil thing and bitter, that thou hast forsaken the LORD thy God, and that my fear is not in thee, saith the Lord GOD of hosts.

Hosea 14:4 I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely: for mine anger is turned away from him.

Hosea 7:10 And the pride of Israel testifieth to his face: and they do not return to the LORD their God, nor seek him for all this.

To backslide is :
1. To regress; to slip backwards or revert to a previous, worse state.
2. To shirk responsibility; to renege on one's obligations or commitments.

Proverbs 14vs 14 The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from himself.

Types Of Backsliding
1. backslidden believer

2. backslidden tither
Malachi 3:7 Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the LORD of hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we return? 3:8 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.

What Causes People to backslide.
1. Laziness
Unwilling to do work or make an effort.

2. Procrastination
To put off; to delay taking action; to wait until later.

3. Taking things for Granted/Dishonor
Proverbs 3:9
