*He will set it on fire*
_2 Samuel 14:31 - Then Joab arose and came to Absolom’s house, and said to him, “Why have your servants set my field on fire?”_
Absolom had been a fugitive from his father David for three years in Geshur after he had killed his brother Amnon. When he returned to Jerusalem, he called for Joab to take him to his father. Twice he called for Joab and twice, Joab failed to show up.
To get Joab’s attention, Absolom commanded his servants to burn his barley field. And at that point, Joab came. Lessons we refuse to learn in a land of plenty will be mastered in a land of want.
How many times has God called you? What is stopping you from responding to His call? If what God has given us becomes a stumbling block to our salvation, He will set it on fire.
_God speaks to His people in blessings bestowed; and when these are not appreciated, He speaks to them in blessings removed, that they may be led to see their sins, and return to Him with all the heart._
- PP, p.470
Nebuchadnezzar went into the forest for 7 years for him to know that God reigns in heaven. Manasseh had to be taken away with hooks in his nose for him to remember the God of his fathers. Herod remained stubborn until worms consumed him as he sat on his throne.
Today, when you hear His voice, do not harden your voice. God might have to burn your barley field in order to get you to pray or to keep your marriage intact. Sometimes, our sight must be taken away to get us to be missionaries like Paul.

_Sometimes it takes a mountain
Sometimes a troubled sea
Sometimes it takes a desert
To get a hold of me
Your love is so much stronger
Than whatever troubles me
Sometimes it takes a mountain
To trust You and believe_
