Jesus continued teaching the disciples about the Kingdom of Heaven and explained it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter it. Why is it so hard for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven? From an earthly perspective, the rich man doesn’t technically need to trust in Jesus. He is able to do life on his own and in his own strength. But God is full of grace and love, and Jesus promised the disciples with God all things are possible.

God looks at the heart and knows when a person trusts and believes in Jesus as Lord and Savior. Therefore, even if you have all the riches you want, but your heart is set on Christ, it is possible for you to enter the His kingdom. Jesus wants your heart to trust fully in Him. Today, is there anything you are trusting in more than God? He desires for you to keep your heart surrendered to Jesus the King, ensuring that He is the God of all your life. If you are to boast in anything, boast in Jesus!

“‘Again, I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God’…but Jesus looked at them and said, ‘With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.’”
Matthew 19:24, 26

Psalm 20:7 – “Some take pride in chariots, and others in horses, but we take pride in the name of Yahweh our God.”

Ephesians 2:8-9 – “For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift— not from works, so that no one can boast.”

Colossians 3:2 – “Set your minds on what is above, not on what is on the earth.”

Jesus instructed the disciples to live differently than the world. He told them to forgive not just seven times, but 77 times seven . . . to forgive as many times as necessary. And if they didn’t forgive, Jesus told a parable illustrating that they would be forever tortured for not forgiving a fellow brother or sister.

Forgiveness. Some of you may run from that word. However, forgiveness is the key to your belief in Jesus. When you confess your sins to Jesus, He is faithful and forgives you fully from all unrighteousness. His death on the cross covered your sins. You are forgiven forever. You are loved unconditionally. In addition, Jesus says you are to love others, just as He loves you. And yet, when it comes to forgiving one another, you make excuses, you run from it, and you avoid it. But it never goes away; bitterness may even set in. Today, ask the Lord to help you to forgive. Forgiveness doesn’t come from your own strength but from the unconditional love and grace you receive from the Father. So, walk it out by trusting and obeying all He is asking you to do in faith. Jesus promises His peace will be with you.

“Then Peter came to Him and said, ‘Lord, how many times could my brother sin against me, and I forgive him?’ ‘I will tell you, not as many as seven,’ Jesus said to him, ‘but 70 times seven . . . So My heavenly Father will also do to you if each of you does not forgive his brother from his heart.’”
Matthew 18:21-22, 35

Ephesians 1:7-8 – “We have redemption in Him through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace that He lavished on us with all wisdom and under-standing.”

Colossians 3:13 – “Accepting one another and forgiving one another if anyone has a complaint against another. Just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you must also forgive.”

1 John 1:9 – “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Jesus asked His disciples who people said He was. Since the disciples were out doing ministry, as they had been commissioned to do, they had answers to give to Jesus. Then Jesus looked at His disciples and asked them directly, “But . . . who do you say that I am?” The disciples had left everything and followed Jesus. They witnessed His miracles of healing, restoring, and providing for people. They walked with Him. Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”

Today, ask yourself that same question. As you receive Jesus in your own life and walk with Him, “Who do you say Jesus is?” Your answer may change from day to day, depending on your experiences in life. Jesus may be your Savior, your Friend, your Strength, your Help, your Burden-Bearer, your Joy, or your Hope. Today, be ready to bear witness to others. You may be the only witness they have in life. Let your light shine before all men.

“‘But you,’ He asked them, ‘who do you say that I am?’”
Matthew 16:15

John 15:27 – “You also will testify, because you have been with Me from the beginning.”

Acts 22:15 – “For you will be a witness for Him to all people of what you have seen and heard.”

1 Peter 3:15 – “But honor the Messiah as Lord in your hearts. Always be ready to give a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you.”

As Jesus withdrew to the area of Tyre and Sidon, a Canaanite woman cried out, asking Jesus to heal her demon- possessed daughter. This mother was in great distress and had been walking through a terrible trial, and yet, she found hope in Jesus. Jesus responded slowly in His answer to this unlikely candidate for healing. She was a Gentile and a pagan enemy of Israel. Even so, she humbly knelt before Jesus, with strong faith that He could heal her daughter, and pleaded with Jesus to help. Jesus saw her faith, saw her belief in Him, and restored her daughter.

As you face trials in life and find yourself in distress, humbly come before Jesus. Don’t assume you aren’t a likely candidate or good enough for Jesus to help. He loves all people. Jesus may have a different time frame than you want, but sit before Him, talk with Him, and share your heart with Jesus the Messiah. The process of waiting and humbling yourself brings glory to the Lord. The Lord sees you and knows you. No matter what you face today, keep your faith in Jesus. He is your Helper.

“But she came, knelt before Him, and said, ‘Lord, Help me!’”
Matthew 15:25

Matthew 25:23 – “His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful slave! You were faithful over a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Share your master’s joy!’”

Hebrews 11:6 — “Now without faith it is impossible to please God, for the one who draws near to Him must believe that He exists and rewards those who seek Him.”

1 Peter 1:7 – “So that the genuineness of your faith—more valuable than gold, which perishes though refined by fire— may result in[a] praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.”

The story of Jesus walking on water, in the middle of a storm, and calling out to Peter to join Him, powerfully illustrates Jesus as King. Jesus had control and authority, even over the wind and the waves. As the storms began, Jesus was praying alone on the mountain. However, just when the disciples needed help, Jesus appeared to them walking on the water, saying, “Don’t be afraid. Take courage.” Jesus reached out his hand to Peter and said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?”

Just like the disciples, you will find yourself in the middle of a storm in life. Maybe even today, the winds of your storm are swirling around you. Jesus promises He is interceding for you. He will reach out His hand to help you. Today, take courage. Have the faith to walk out of the boat, trusting the Lord will be with you and will help you. Do not walk in doubt. Grab hold of the hand of Jesus and confidently walk in faith that He is with you!

“Immediately, Jesus reached out His hand, caught hold of him, and said to him, ‘You of little faith, why did you doubt?’ When they got into the boat, the wind ceased.”
Matthew 14:31-32

Isaiah 43:2 – “I will be with you when you pass through the waters, and when you pass through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. You will not be scorched when you walk through the fire, and the flame will not burn you.”

2 Corinthians 1:8 – “For we don’t want you to be unaware, brothers, of our affliction that took place in Asia: we were completely overwhelmed—beyond our strength—so that we even despaired of life.”

1 Timothy 6:15 – “God will bring this about in His own time. He is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings, and the Lord of lords.”

As Jesus commissioned the disciples with authority, He said to them three times...

Don’t be afraid. Don’t be afraid. Don’t be afraid.

Today, as you go about your own day, as you live your life for Christ, guess what remains the same? Don’t be afraid. Jesus will give you words to speak when you think you have nothing to say. Jesus will share everything with you and nothing will be hidden. Jesus is more powerful than anything or anyone. Jesus knows every hair on your head, and you are worth more than a sparrow, who Jesus also cared for. He loves you, child of God! So today, don’t be afraid. You have all authority from Jesus because it has been given to you. Walk on and do not fear.

“But even the hairs of your head have all been counted. So, don’t be afraid therefore; you are worth more than many sparrows.”
Matthew 10:30-31

Isaiah 41:10 — “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will hold on to you with My righteous right hand.”

Psalm 56:3 — “When I am afraid, I will trust in You.”

2 Timothy 1:7 — “For God has not given us a spirit of fearfulness, but one of power, love, and sound judgment.”
