Bishop Mupandasekwa guarantees Karoi College will be completed on time.

Diocese of Chinhoyi Apostolic Administrator, Rt.Rev. Bishop Raymond Mupandasekwa has made a firm promise to the people of Hurungwe: the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Karoi College of Education will be completed — not abandoned halfway.

Speaking at the groundbreaking, the Bishop addressed the community’s painful history of stalled projects head-on:
“We are not here for groundbreaking and then come back to construct after 5 years. Work is commencing immediately. We commit ourselves that by next year we will have students learning from this campus. We don’t want projects that do not finish.”

Building with Speed and Purpose

The Bishop stressed that this project will be different. Construction starts now, with a clear target: students in classrooms by 2027.

Beyond education, the college is also an economic boost for Karoi.
“In doing so, we are also creating employment because we will use local labor in the construction process. We pray that this job started today gets a good ending.”

Meanwhile, the church committed to continue development projects in the Province.

The Bishop assured the gathering that Karoi is just the beginning and notified that the Church is expanding its development work across to Hurungwe and Kariba in short while.

Equipping Hands That Serve: Caritas Chinhoyi trains Mhangura Parish Committee

In a bid to strengthen service to the poor and vulnerable communities, Caritas Chinhoyi with support from the Catholic Relief Society (CRS) is currently training Diocesan Parishes on humanitarian standards as well as Catholic Social teachings.
Participating in the ongoing trainings being held under the Advancing of Local Leadership for Sustainability Pilot Project, 17 parishioners at Mhangura’s Christ the King Parish recently took a bold step towards strengthening its mission of mercy with a training workshop for its Parish Caritas Committee.
The committee members gathered for the session, engaging actively in prayer, discussion, and practical exercises aimed at sharpening their capacity to serve.

Rooted in Catholic Social Teaching
The training grounded participants in the Church’s call to care for the poor and uphold human dignity. Key topics included:
Catholic Social Teachings: The theological foundation for the Church’s mission to the marginalized.
Pope Leo XIV's Prayer Intention for May: Aligning local action with the Holy Father’s global call.
Core Humanitarian Standards: Practical principles for delivering aid with dignity, accountability, and respect.
“This is what it means to be the hands and feet of Christ in our community,” one participant noted during reflection.

From Learning to Action
The workshop moved beyond theory. In group discussions and community analysis exercises, members mapped out real challenges affecting Mhangura — from food insecurity to gaps in support for vulnerable families.

Together they identified:
1. Who is most affected by these challenges
2. Why these gaps exist in the community
3. What collective action the parish can take, guided by Catholic values

The goal: move from good intentions to concrete, community-led solutions.

A Commitment to Serve
By the end of the session, committee members left equipped with both knowledge and tools to plan and implement community-based interventions. More importantly, they renewed their commitment to apply these principles for the welfare of vulnerable individuals and families in their parish.

Through this training, Christ the King Mhangura is ensuring that heart keeps beating strong

St. Charles Lwanga and Companions

St. Charles Lwanga and his companions were young African Christians whose heroic witness helped establish the foundations of the Church in Uganda. Their martyrdom in the late 19th century remains one of the most powerful testimonies of faith in modern missionary history.

During the 1870s and 1880s, Christian missionaries began preaching the Gospel in the Kingdom of Buganda, located in present-day Uganda. Among those who embraced Christianity were several young men who served as pages in the royal court of King Mwanga II. These pages were responsible for assisting the king and performing various duties within the palace.

St. Charles Lwanga served as a spiritual leader among the Christian pages in the royal court of Buganda. After his own conversion and Baptism, he helped guide and encourage other young men who were learning about the Christian Faith. When earlier Christian leaders at court were executed, Charles assumed responsibility for strengthening the remaining believers. He instructed catechumens, prayed with them, and helped them remain faithful despite growing danger. During the persecution ordered by King Mwanga II, Charles even baptized several companions who had not yet formally entered the Church. His leadership and courage were crucial in helping the group remain united in faith until their martyrdom.

June is the month dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus!

The devotion began in the 1670s, when Jesus appeared multiple times to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, a Visitation nun in France.

He showed her His Heart and said: “Behold this Heart which has so loved men, and is so little loved in return.”

Christ revealed his Heart as a symbol of his boundless love for humanity and emphasized the need for people to return his love through devotion and prayer.
