Maintaining an Attitude of Gratitude | Pastor Levy Masuku | 31 May 2026

Pastor Levy opened by encouraging the church to be grateful for the fact that Jesus died for us on the cross at Calvary, even though we do not deserve it. When we truly confess our sins, God is faithful enough to forgive us and forget all our wrongdoings. In the same way that He has been faithful, we too must be faithful in maintain an attitude of gratitude and serve the Lord wholeheartedly.

There is an urgency in the Spirit for us to preach the word of God to a dying world. In everything that we do, we need to always ask ourselves what it is that we are doing with the grace that the Lord has given to us. We don’t come to church to be comfortable, but to be equipped to spread the gospel in one way or another.

Many times when the Lord blesses us, we tend to focus on our needs when, in actual fact, we need to focus on the Lord. In whatever we do, we need to use every opportunity we get to preach the gospel of Christ. The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few.

In closing, Pastor Levy challenged us by asking what we are going to be remembered for when we leave this earth. It should be our greatest desire to be remembered for having lived a life centered on Christ. The Lord saved us so that we can be vessels that He can use for the advancement of His kingdom.

The Biblical Example of a Christian Leader | Richard Langworthy | 24 May 2026

Richard Langworthy opened by sharing how he has noticed that nowadays some pastors increase while the focus on the Lord decreases. He highlighted that when most of them started, they were on fire for the Lord, but now the emphasis in the church has shifted from “we’re in ministry for the glory of Jesus Christ” to “we’re in ministry so that people will recognise me, the leader.” The lives of pastors and leaders are on public display, which shows the importance of the example they set for the church, not just their calling. The church belongs to the Lord; it is His, not the leaders’.

Any man who promotes himself and promotes his flesh has increased and he has left the gospel behind. Jesus understands our carnal nature and knows that ministry can easily feed the flesh and allow pride to creep in. That is why He knew the only way a man can survive in ministry is if he carries his cross.

A true Christian leader has no sense of self-promotion and knows not to put the work of man above the work of the Holy Spirit. In closing, pastor Richard highlighted that a Christian leader must be a son in the gospel, meaning he is completely given his life to the gospel. The greatest barrier to the move of Christ is the heart and character of man. We have to honour Christ fully with our lives.

The Responsibilities Of A Christian Man | 17 May 2026 | Richard Langworthy

Pastor Richard Langworthy began his sermon by mentioning that there is a difference between a man and a Christian man. We need to understand the difference between a fallen man and a spiritual man, an unsaved man and a saved man, because the devil has done his best to remove from man’s thinking who God has called him to be. It is the role of the father to transmit God’s teachings to his children, not only through Scripture and teaching but also through his lifestyle.

We must put away every cultural dynamic we were raised in because it corrupts a man’s mind about what God has called him to be. The husband is the head of the wife in the same way that Christ is the head of the church. This means that the wife and children must have complete and open access to his heart in their time of need. The idea that the father is too high and too busy to be reached is the devil’s lie and should not exist in a Christian home.

The woman is to submit to her husband by grace, not by law. When we bring in the traditions of man, it brings law and is ungodly. A godly man is to encourage his wife and build her up day by day, because God holds a man accountable for the state of his wife. In the same way the Church is a product of Christ’s investment, the wife is a product of her husband’s investment; therefore, a Christian man leads by faith as Christ leads the church. In closing, he encouraged the men that it is time to stand as Christian men, throw away all cultural things, and say, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord,” unashamed; and serve the Lord with all of our hearts, together with our families.

Standing Firm On God’s Foundation | 10 May 2026 | Pst Levy Masuku

Pastor Levy shared with the church that we are living in terrible times. He highlighted that it is impertinent that we are founded on the foundation that has been laid, the foundation of Jesus Christ, brought by the apostolic anointing.

He continued to share that everything will be shaken and what remains is what God is building. In the last days there will be deception and gimmicks. What will help us to discern what is of the Lord and what isn’t of the Lord is the Spirit of God in us.

When we grow in the spirit, we become more discerning because we know that true worship comes from a heart that is broken before the Lord. Therefore, he encouraged us not to be stuck in principles, religions and techniques but instead to let the Spirit have His way. We have been called to share the gospel and there is no more time to waste.

How God Turns Our Weakness Into His Victory | 26 April 2026 | Richard Langworthy

Opening his sermon, Pastor Richard Langworthy emphasised that God will turn our weaknesses into His victory. He did not make a mistake when He chose us, and we are precious to Him. What we consider a weakness is God’s opportunity to do something great in our lives. He then spoke about the challenges we face:

1.Issues we were born with:
No one is born perfect; we all have some form of weakness. We need to realise that our strength is found in our weaknesses. We shouldn’t compare ourselves to others, but we should do what God puts in front of us. When we come to the Lord, we come with our imperfections and hurts, and the Lord will heal them.

2.Our upbringing:
All of us were raised by imperfect parents in an imperfect community. This affects our self-worth and how we see ourselves, but God accepted us as we were. When we became Christians, God placed us into a new community that Jesus died for. He says He will rebuild us into a new creation that has nothing to do with how we were raised.

3.What we have suffered at the hands of others (the unsaved community):
We carry grudges and heaviness in our hearts because of how our bosses or coworkers have treated or misjudged us. God says to forgive and not let their sinful actions become a chain around our hearts. The miracle of God’s grace is that we can forgive others and forgive ourselves.

When we stop fighting injustice in our own strength, that’s when we find God’s grace. The carnal man will not trust God with his life; he wants to stay in charge. The spiritual man lets go. Wherever we are and whatever we’re facing, understand that we are in the perfect hands of God, so we should stop fighting. In closing, he said that when we understand God took us as we are, and He works on us like a potter with His clay, we become free in Jesus Christ.

From vision to foundation, from faith to a place we now call home.

Last year, we celebrated 30 years of the church building and premiered a special mini-documentary telling the story of how Selbourne Park Christian Church came to be and how we found our home.

The mini documentary is available for you to watch on YouTube. 🎬

Do You Remember? | 19 April 2026 | Selby Mpofu

Selby reminded the church that we are here by the grace of God and only by His grace. Then he went on to say that the Lord is preparing His church for His return, for we are living in the last days. We must stay ready, and we must be watchful with open hearts that allow the Lord to build and shape us. There is work that needs to be done while we are here on earth, so at the end of it all, the Lord can say to us, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

However, our weakness is that we so easily forget. We forget about the Lord and that He is coming back soon. We should get our lives in order and redeem the time because time is short. We need to remember that we are living in the last days.

When we crucify the desires of the flesh, the life of Christ comes. Sometimes as Christians we become too complacent, we do not see the urgency, and we forget our first love. We can’t say we are right with the Lord if we are not right with the people around us. The Lord allows things to come into our hearts so as to bring us to repentance. May we remain with a broken and contrite heart, that is pure. He closed by reminding the church that the cry of our hearts should be that we are able to answer the call of God and separate ourselves from the world and remember the zeal we first had for the things of the Lord.

There is Room in the Body of Christ | Pst Levy Masuku | 12 April 2026

Pastor Levy opened by reminding us of the importance of taking care of our spirit man in order to serve the Lord. He went on to talk about how the Lord has the ability to make things come together in the right way. He used an illustration of the Valley of Dry Bones to describe how God orchestrated each bone to connect to its joint. As Christians we are like those members of the body of Christ that the Lord has brought together, with each member having a part to play.

God has a plan and purpose for all of us and we should give our lives to the Lord and serve them from right where we are. We need to remain faithful and believe that the Lord is at work in our lives and that He places us at the right place at the right time.

The Lord does not make mistakes; He created everything for a reason. In the Body of Christ, there is no one who is more important than another. We all have a role to play through the different gifts and anointings that we have.

In closing, Pastor Levy made it clear that when we do things in our own strength, the end result is frustration; but when we give the Lord control of our lives, peace will prevail. It’s time for us to come out of our caves, take our place in the body and let God use us for His purposes.
