NKJV 2 Corinthians 2:14 Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ…

I realise that a lot of people lose all hope when they are going through a difficult and seemingly impossible to overcome situation. It is normal considering that one would have evaluated the situation and found that it is going to destroy them one way or the other. I also realise that one of the reasons why we give up on all hope is because we do not have knowledge that guarantees us of victory. When we have the knowledge, then it will be because we do not believe it, which technically means we don’t have it (it’s not part of us).

There is a Word that I want you to meditate upon and make it part of you, from today onwards. The Word which says will always lead us in triumph in Christ Jesus. The promises of God are true and possible to us through . No matter what you may go through, remember that all things work for good to them who are in Christ and God will always lead you in triumph. The experiences that will cause us to say we’ve overcome are never pleasant. They are challenging and sometimes life threatening but though you walk through the valley of the shadow of death, there’s no need to fear any evil because God is with you unto victory. God guarantees you and me victory over every setback and difficulty.

You could be a and here’s why.

I realise that a lot of people are hurt when friends and family abandon them at a time when they they’ve lost everything they had. You might have had many people around you when you had the financial means or had a powerful position, but none of them still come around you now that you no longer have what you used to have. I’m sure this is the moment when you get to see those who loved you for who you are and not what you benefitted them. The people who love you don’t just wait to receive from you but they give you when you are in need. They sometimes sacrifice the little that they have to make sure that they give you the help that you need.

It’s easy to think that friends and family betrayed you or they used you until you ask yourself whether you will continue to love God and committing to His ways should He withhold His help or provision from you.

Of course, there’s no way God will lack anything or become broke at any point in time. So when He stops providing you with your needs or doing whatever He has been doing for you, what are you going to do?

Are you going to stop fellowshipping with Him in prayer? Are you going to seek Him less? Are you going to stop doing His work because you hard want anything to do with Him? Are you going to stop believing in Him?

Are you sure you are not acting like those friends and family who love others for what they’re getting from them until they stop getting what they’ve been getting?

God can test your heart to see whether you love Him for who He is by acting as if He can’t do what you expect Him to do. This is what He famously did with Job.

BSB Luke 22:40 …He told them, “Pray that you will not enter into temptation.”
I realise that a lot of people pray when they are emotional about their troubles. I have heard some people saying that most people pray a lot when they’re in but stop doing so when they move to Europe or America. The stated reason for stopping is that 70% of their prayer points are answered by the economic systems in those developed countries. This can’t be far from the truth if a person’s reason for praying is only to ask and ask. They are committed to prayer when things are not moving according to their expectations or when they need something.

The foundation for prayer is about establishing a strong relationship with . It is therein that we can praise Him, worship Him, thank Him or ask Him (talking with Him and not only talking to Him).

One thing that you have forgotten is to pray that you may not enter or fall into temptation. You may be taking this for granted because you have everything else going well with you but you might have forgotten that the devil is prowling round like a roaring lion looking for someone to eat. The scripture says that the devil would go away from only for a season, then come back to tempt Him. If that happened with the , how much more could it happen with you? Do you honestly think that you can stand against the devil without ?

Pray that you may not enter into temptation of thinking that you don’t need in your life. No matter how successful you are and you think it is all by your hard or smart work; you still need and a strong relationship with .

I didn’t know whether to laugh at their reaction.

KJV Matthew 15:23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us. 24; But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

I’ve read this passage a couple of times before, preached about it taking note of how the woman was not discouraged by the responses which she got from . I’ve talked about how the modern generation would see Jesus’ response about feeding the dogs as politically incorrect.

But I had never really thought about the disciples’ reaction. Just imagine them going to Jesus to tell Him to chase the woman away because she was making noise for them. I had this picture in my mind that I didn’t know whether I should laugh. The disciples noticed that Jesus wasn’t interested in attending to the woman and they didn’t want her to be making noise for them either. Jesus responded to the disciples’ request by telling the woman that He wasn’t sent to her.

I realise that a lot of people do not understand that Jesus responds favourably to the requests of those who are close to Him. Jesus had chosen to be quiet, to the woman who was distant to Him, but when the disciples, who were close to Him, asked Him to chase the woman away, He responded. Draw close to Him and you will see how attentive His ears are to the call of His saints. Let’s also be patient with Him, just like Mary asked the people who wanted God’s intervention at the wedding in Cana.

NKJV Romans 6:22 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts.

I realise that a lot of people want to knock on the devil’s door and expect to open it for them. A lot of people are not ready for change. Not just change but the change that is expected of the children in God’s kingdom. A lot of people still want to go their own way and still find the things of God. They seek the worldly ways and expect to find the things of God.

God reveals to Isaiah that He is the God who leads you by the way you should go. So He knows the way that we SHOULD go and He instructs us how to walk in that way in order for us to get what we hope for. It is very fascinating how people make sure that they carefully and whole heartedly follow the instructions of a wizard or traditional healer when they visit one, and are instructed on what to do in order for them to get what they went seeking. A lot of people don’t see what they are instructed to do by a wizard as a burden but what God instructs them to do.

is calling us unto a righteous living and that is the way God wants us to follow in order for us to find help in times of trouble. He reveals unto us that we have the capacity to overcome sin and it is up to us to do so once we are born of Him.

NKJV 1 Kings 6:22 The whole temple he overlaid with gold, until he had finished all the temple; also he overlaid with gold the entire altar that was by the inner sanctuary.

I realise that the temple which was built by King Solomon, if it was to be valued, was very very expensive. It is believed to be having a current valuation of between US100 and 590 Billion dollars. Just imagine how it was overlaid with gold, not to mention the ivory and other valuable materials that was used to build and furnish it. This was a master piece that took 7 years to complete.

The interesting thing is, given a chance, man would literary do anything to own such a masterpiece, but God says he cannot dwell in that. With all its beauty, God says it is not worthy to be His dwelling place. He doesn’t find joy in staying in that expensive building.

God chooses to dwell in something that other people despise; . That on its own shows us that the God of glory sees more value in a human being that can’t be compared to an amount of money or material things. You may be looking at yourself and thinking you’re nothing because you don’t own material things, or you don’t have money but the one who owns every diamond, gold, silver, or platinum sees you worthy more than all of that. YOU GOT TO KEEP YOUR HEAD HIGH.

It only comes down to the truth that our value is not in material things as the world emphasises. The world says your net worth is so much based on the material things that you own but God says you are worthy more than any material possessions. That’s why He chose to dwell within those who believe in .

You are worthy more than what money can buy and until you begin to see yourself in the lens of God, you will always think that you’re useless or not worthy of anything good.

Something to reflect on.
NKJV Matthew 16:27 For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works.

I realise that a lot often it is easy to say things but very hard to do the same. I find how easy it is to tell others to be strong but when it’s our turn to be strong, we think people don’t understand what’s going on when they tell us to be strong. It is easy to tell people what to do but very hard for us to practise what we preach.

Ask yourself, do you practise what you tell others to do? We should thrive to practise what we preach because we are not excluded from the message of Salvation. Sometimes difficulties will make us aware of what we truly believe and what we don’t truly believe.

We have a tendency of living a public life and a private life. I know of people who are charismatic when they stand before people in public but those who know them closely will be saying in their hearts, “what a monster this person is.” I ask you to reflect on the life that you’re living, does your private life testify of Jesus Christ? Remember that we shall be rewarded according to our works. Where you think you are deceiving the people, you must understand that you are only deceiving yourself.

NKJV Proverbs 4:23 Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.

I realise that a lot of our actions are inspired and shaped by our beliefs. How we feel about something largely depends on how we see and think about it. How we perceive things depends on the knowledge that we have and particularly the knowledge that we have believed.

The Word of God then tells us to guard our hearts because what knowledge enters it and believe will have some influence in your life (consciously or subconsciously). There are some things that we have come to hate not necessarily because they have done us any harm but because we heard someone talking bad about them. There are certain things that we are skeptical of because someone we trust said that those things cannot be trusted.

On the other hand, there are some actions we happily and proudly take because of the knowledge that we have about them. The Word of God shows us how important it is to take control of what we spend time listening to because it will either build us or destroy us. Issues of life come from within us and when there is nothing good in our hearts, then we can’t expect to do well. That’s how bad company corrupts good morals.

If you want to succeed in anything in life (by whatever measurement you use for success), be selective of what you listen to and what you watch.

BSB Luke 15:20 ...But while he was still in the distance, his father saw him and was filled with compassion. He ran to his son, embraced him, and kissed him.

I realise that expectation is a powerful thing in life. So many opportunities have gone past us because of lack of expectations. It may look like a simple thing to practice but it’s not. It’s a simple thing but difficult to practice consistently and that’s why many people don’t.

What makes it difficult is that sometimes you just don’t know when the opportunity is going to come. You have given up hope on many promises because there was no assurance of when it will happen.
Learning so much from the father of a prodigal son, I realise how faith strengthens expectation. And expectation helps you identify an opportunity before its even close. The father had faith that one day, his son would come back but there was no assurance of when it will happen. He never lost his hope day in day out nomatter how long it might have taken. He remained expectant of the return of his son.

When you hear that God is working out something for your good, are you ready to wait for it, expecting it to happen even if there is no guarantee of when it will happen? Are you going to keep watching so that the opportunity won’t pass you by?
