Today’s Relationships

My heart bleeds when I see the confusion ravaging the young people today. They are quick to want in and out of relationships. They do not seem to know what they want. If they do not know what they want, do they know who they are? What value are they attaching to themselves? Why do they want to be in relationships? Are there forces outside of their control that push them into relationships? All these and many other questions cross my mind regularly. Clearly I am worried about future generations.
Take time to read this, it may help you.

The thing that will deal with the confusion of relationships today in my opinion is that a young person should be orderly.
Have a good and strong relationship with God, love yourself then your partner. You need this tripartite arrangement for you to be a vessel of honour.
In Genesis God created Adam and later created Eve. Why? He wanted Adam to first have a relationship with Him first. Adam had an opportunity to fortify his relationship with God before doing so with a woman. Fortifying your relationship with God first facilitates you discovering who you are, promotes a positive self image, gives you an opportunity to learn to be happy alone, warm alone and finally it gives you the ability to learn to entertain yourself. This means that before you get involved in a relationship, can you exist alone. If you can, wonderful this is the time for you to get involved. Why? If you are not adequate on your own you will get into relationships for wrong reasons. You will get into relationships for reasons that can be found right inside of you.

Don’t look for things that are inside of you from outside. Respect yourself, love yourself, have a positive image about you. The problem is that many young people have serious feelings of inadequacy, lack total respect for themselves. Then you get involved in a relationship and expect to be loved when you don’t love yourself, to be respected when you don’t respect yourself. The tendency is that you become a burden to the partner, they get tired of carrying you, given the fact that you are so heavy with your baggage you are bring to a relationship

But if you love, respect and you are exactly positive about yourself, you will attract people that will surely love, respect and hold you with high esteem. You literally teach and tell people how they should treat by the way you are treating yourself.

Why is hurting a vicious circle?

No one in the World wants to be hurt. Logically you would think that because people do not want to be hurt they would in turn choose not to hurt. But the whole world is broken because people continue to hurt each other. But why?
Jesus says in Matthew 18:22 that we should forgive each other 7 times 70, which literally means infinitely. It is because Jesus noted that many people had it rough at childhood. They were socialized to hurt.
Some were r***d, some physically and emotionally abused. So all people know hurting because they were taught to hurt through their own experiences.
Proverbs 4: 23 says, "Guard your heart above all else,
for it determines the course of your life."
When you are a child you cannot guard your heart, infact your heart is at the messy of the world. They literally deposit all sorts of Bitterness, anger, hurt, envy, feeling of in adequacy, hollowness and so on. These are the things people grow up with. At the same time the world is expecting one to love, have peace, have joy, patience, self control yet what is inside the hearts of many is exactly the opposite. One cannot give out what is not in your heart. That is why forgiveness is so important. We are being hurt by the hurted and the hurted naturally become the hurters. So hurting is outside of the control of many, because this was instilled at childhood and has become their behavior and personality.
There is need for the vicious circle of hurting to be broken. To break it, you need a miracle of salvation. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:17, "
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."
Are you struggling with forgiveness? Please do forgive because you have been hurt by the hurted. You may contact Pastor V. Mabaso for more insight and for help with forgiveness
