Kampani, Rest in peace my beloved friend

It was with great shock to hear about Rev Kampani’s death. Surely I did not expect that but we all have a limited time to live in this world. To me, he was not only a colleague but a best friend. We share our vision together, we planned together. At work even if we were friends, we did not compromise our duties. He did his work with diligence and without favour. I was proud of him and I will always be proud of him. I will always remember him fondly and have wonderful memories of many times spent with him all during the past years! He leaves behind a wonderful family and I know you will all be a great source of comfort and support to one another. At this moment my thoughts and prayers are with mama Kampani and the entire family during this sad time. We pray that the love of God enfolds you during your difficult times and that he helps you heal with the passage of time.

What do you think?
As a country, we are moving towards elections at the end of the month. In the past few elections we have seen some pastors being involved in elections. These include the likes of Obadiah Msindo and recently Rev Useni Sibanda. My question is; should the Pastors be involved in politics. Is there a biblical mandate or principle for pastoral involvement in political rallies? Should Pastors seek to play a lead role in political movements or parties promoting specific agendas?
Personal I think that the pastor cannot serve God and the state. Pastoral is more than a full time job. If a pastor wants to add politician to his work load, then the church will suffer. It is my belief that pasturing and politicking are two different callings. Being involved in politics will have an impact on how you will be perceived both in the community at large and by your own congregation your church members belong to different political parties and if the pastor aligns with one political party, then will result in disharmony in the church.
But I also believe that pastors have a role to play. The role of the people of God is to be a prophetic voice against injustices in our land and to speak of those who have no voice. From this the clergy should never back away, and when we conflate clergy with politician we often lose this position of critic
