Our History
Our parish was born out of St. Pius Parish, Njube.Due to the increasing number of the faithful, the church in Njube could not accommodate the numbers hence the idea of building a church in Mpopoma was born. The then Archbishop Pius Ncube together with Fr. Christopher approached the Bulawayo City Council for a piece of land. The land was a wetland and had reeds.A lot of work had to be done to clear the land. Before the construction of the church ,the faithful from Mpopoma, Matshobane and Western Commonage had Open-air Masses near the church site once amonth.Construction was completed in 2000, the church was blessed and openned by Archbishop Pius Ncube with Fr. Victor Dube being the first Parish Priest. To date, three parish priests have been assigned to this parish, namely Fr. Reason Mlilo and the current priest is Fr. Achim Sidakara.

EXTRAORDINARY MISSION MONTH:OCTOBER 2019. On October 22,2017, World Mission Sunday, Pope Francis made his decision public that October 2019 is to be observed throughout the Catholic Church as an Extraordinary Mission Month. A hundred years ago, in 1919, Pope Benedict XV published the first encyclical on the missionary nature of the Church :Maximum Illud. Pope Francis considers this centenary anniversary as a providential occasion to call on the Church to renew itself and become evermore prepared to work, pray and give financial support to our common mission to bring the Gospel if Christ to all peoples. The Parish held a workshop for the top three leaders of areas, sections, associations and movements to explain the importance of Extraordinary Mission Month :October 2019.The workshop was facilitated by Fr. Mthombeni, he cited Mark 16:15-20 as the genesis of the mission of the Church to spread the Gospel to all nations.
