Psalm 1
1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
6 For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

*THINGS WE TAKE FOR GRANTED*

Have you ever noticed how we have always been *sure* that some things will always be there? Just as sure as the rising of the sun in the east and it's setting in the west.

We have always known that school terms are pre-set years in advance. Here in Zimbabwe we have known:
First term: January - early April.
Second term: May to August.
Third term: September to December.
I know each country has it's own school calendar.

What a disruption in 2020...this is almost end of July and the second term is not in session yet. *Taken for granted but never came to be.*

I will go on vacation and fly out as usual. *Taken for granted until all planes were grounded for months.*

When I get my thirteenth cheque (annual bonus), I will spend it this way. *Taken for granted but today the company is waiting for a bail out from the state.*

Man plans but God executes. "Never boast about tomorrow. You don't know what will happen between now and then." Proverbs 27:1.

How many things have we seen working well and we take it for granted that it will always be like that?
Food is available in the stores, public transport runs well, fuel is always available and affordable, water is always running in the taps, I am well cushioned...my pension is guaranteed, my investments are fine, my bank balance is good, my business is doing well.
So many things pointing in the right direction.

Coronavirus...Covid 19 has shown us that normal life can be disrupted drastically and abruptly.
Economies that were growing suddenly shrunk - that is unfathomable!
Companies that were thriving just collapse.
Unprecedented!

"Before long I will shake heaven and earth, land and sea." Haggai 2:6. We can't deny that the earth has been shaken - industry, commerce, health sector, travel, tourism, education. Nothing remains the same and some changes are irreversible - they have become permanent.

It was always known that whenever you want to attend a church service you could go any time church is open. *Well, church doors closed for months.* Taken for granted until the unleashing of Covid 19.

Here are two important things:
First - Be thankful of what you have or are benefiting from because tomorrow it may not be there. "In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." 1 Thes 5:18.
Second: Use your time profitably - do today what needs to be done, tomorrow may be different. "Make good use of every opportunity you have because these are evil days." Ephesians 5:16.

Look at how many opportunities are being wasted...to pray fervently, to worship, to witness, to preach powerfully, to give, to forgive, to work at church, to show love, to labour for God, to use your talent and skill.

"So we are to use our different gifts in accordance with the grace that God has given us...." Romans 12:6.
"Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord." Romans 12:11.

Time to do what we should do is now....if not now when?

*REALITY*
What you think will be may not be.
The convenient time you are waiting for may not come.
Things will not get better, they will get worse.
"This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come." 2 Timothy 3:1.
Perilous: difficult, hard, rough, tough, dangerous.

*CHALLENGE*
This is the time to make things right with God.
He will forgive you and give you a fresh start, a new life.
Change is possible - you can focus more on God than you are doing.
What you are leaning on can break and there will be no support.
"The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth to it and is safe." Proverbs 18:10.

Jesus is coming back as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Prepare to meet your God. Amos 4:12.

There has been a lot of activity on social media on Coronavirus - Covid 19. Prophets have weighed in with their input also.
Remember previous messages that were preached in church.

The bible mentions evil days... time of Jacob's trouble... tribulation and
great tribulation, the day of the Lord's anger persecution and the day of the Lord.
Just the bible as our source gives us all about our time and the future.
What is happening in the world? What is this plague affecting every nation? Where did it come from? How will it end?

Matthew 24 covers this and so does Mark 13.
"The Lord has a controversy with the nations..." Jeremiah 25:31 (Read verses 27 - 33).
"Behold, the Lord maketh the earth empty and maketh it a waste, and turneth it upside down and scattered abroad the inhabitants thereof." Isaiah 25:1
"The earth has broken down in utter collapse, everything is lost, abandoned and confused. The world staggers like a drunkard, it shakes like a tent in a storm. It falls and will not rise again, for the sins of the earth are very great."Isaiah 25:19 - 20. (Read the whole chapter).

Before everything winds up and all is over....the church will rise in power and give the world one final witness.
We are just about at that time.
"And I will give power to my two witnesses...." Rev 11:3.

RISE UP, IT'S OUR TIME NOW TO SHINE!!

This is what you can tell those situations:
He created all things out of nothing.
He simply said, "Let there be" and it came into being.
He opened the Red Sea and they crossed on dry ground.
He made water come out of the rock.
Millions of litres flowed out of one rock to satisfy 2 million people plus their cattle, sheep and goats.
Manna and quails "rained" from heaven to feed Israel in the desert.
About 2 million people were fed breakfast and dinner every day in the wilderness without food running short for 40 years.

Food rations were guaranteed for 40 years every single day without fail or excuse.
Manna....what is it? Whatsoever you desired it to be, so it was!
For 40 years their clothes and shoes did not wear out.
The waters of Jordan River stopped flowing for Israel to cross over and enter Canaan.
Walls of Jericho fell just by blowing trumpets and shouting.
He gave power to Samson, boldness to Deborah, cunning ability to David, wisdom to Solomon and commitment to Mary Magdalene.
(Give me this mountain - I will conquer it because I believe!!).

Jesus commanded the waves to stop and also walked on water.
He healed all manner of disease and ailments.
He resurrected the dead - Lazarus and others.
Jesus fed 15 000 people from 5 loaves and 2 fishes.
He conquered death - rose from the dead on the third day.
Went up to heaven in a cloud - overcame the power of gravity.
He is coming on a white horse and the armies of heaven will follow him.

What else can we say because He is all powerful, all knowing, all present...no situation can resist His glory (shekinah) and presence.
WHAT A MIGHTY GOD WE SERVE!

"I am the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt where you were slaves." Exodus 20:2.
The story of the EXODUS - a story with so many stories in it.

INFLUENCE
Influence is the capacity to have an effect on the character, development, or behaviour of someone or something, or the effect itself.
Matthew 5:13-16
"You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. "You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. “Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
Everyone has influence over someone, whether for good or for bad. Such influence can have a positive and negative impact on you. Bad company corrupts good morals.
Jesus was the greatest influencer of all times, his life touched billions of people. Act_4:13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marveled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.
Naomi had influence over Ruth to the point that Ruth had to forsake all and go with her mother in law.
David had influence over Jonathan to the extent that they become friends, with the son of his “enemy”.
The devil had influence over Adam, which brought ruin to humanity.
Delilah had influence over Samson which brought Samson to his demise.
At school students have influence over each other, because of it, some do drugs, while others become study partners.
Marriages are built and destroyed because of the influence of friends and relatives
Some are promoted into a position of authority due to influence.
Kingdoms are built and destroyed by influence.
Use your influence to benefit humanity not to defraud it.
Hi**er and Mussolini used their influence to destroy humanity
While Martin Luther King Jr and mother Theresa used their influence to heal a broken world.
Husbands have been destroyed due to their wives negative influence ask Ahab, Eve, on Adam Genesis 3:17-19
Wives have also saved their husband from destruction due to influence- ask Abigail how she saved Nabal
Influence is a dangerous weapon in the hands of a fool; influence can be an agent of positive change in the hands of a wise man –
Influence depends on one’s character and name
Influence changes people – when the Pharisees saw the apostle they knew that they were unlearned, but they perceived that they had been with Jesus, his influence had rubbed on them

Be a positive influence in your generation
