PRAYER OVER PRESENTS

May 12th, 2026

By Tapiwa Chawasarira

Major Florence Shayamano, Chiwaridzo Corps, Bindura Division urged mothers to choose prayer over disappointment on Mother’s Day, reminding them that true motherhood is marked by unwavering love, grace, and compassion.

She encouraged mothers who may not receive gifts to resist bitterness and instead cover their children in prayer, trusting God’s hand over their lives.

In this, she highlighted that a mother’s greatest gift is not what she receives, but the enduring love and faith she continues to pour into her children.

At Chiwaridzo, there is a song that needs no introduction—“Ichokwadi Mwari Variko.” And there is a life that has come to embody that very message: the life of Mai Chitima.

If you walk into Chiwaridzo and simply mention that song, you won’t need to explain further. Almost everyone will smile and say, “Ahh… that’s Mai Chitima’s song.” And when she sings it, you can picture it clearly—gently playing with her finger, stressing each word with conviction, as if declaring to every heart: “Indeed, Mwari variko.” Truly, it fits her—because her life itself is a living testimony that God is real.

Today is not just another date on the calendar. Today, we celebrate a life that has quietly, faithfully, and consistently spoken louder than words.

As Chiwaridzo Media, we pause with grateful hearts to say: Happy Birthday, Amai vedu!

Happy birthday, our mother. Your special day comes just four days before Mother’s Day—as if heaven itself set this time apart to honour you twice.

You are not just a member of this church—you are home to many. A mother. A guide. A steady hand in moments when direction is needed. In your calmness there is wisdom, in your silence there is strength, and in your presence there is reassurance. As the Word of God reminds us in Proverbs 31:26, “She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.” This is the grace we see in you every day.

For years, you have served faithfully as our Corps Treasurer with integrity and dedication—handling the work of God with humility and a committed heart. Not for recognition, but because you understand what it truly means to serve. Beyond the church, you are also a veteran health professional, a nurse whose compassionate care has touched many lives, bringing healing and hope in the same gentle and selfless spirit you bring to ministry.

You are a veteran not just by years, but by impact. You have carried the work, supported the vision, and stood firm through seasons—seen and unseen. Many may not say it every day, but your life has shaped this church and community in ways that cannot be measured.

Amai, you are a blessing. A true one.

As you celebrate today, our prayer is simple but deep:
May God continue to strengthen you.
May He reward your faithfulness.
May He fill your days with peace, joy, and grace.
And may your life continue to declare, louder than ever before—
Ichokwadi… Mwari variko.

Happy birthday, Amai Chitima — our grandmother with the infectious smile that lights up every room. May your day be filled with the same joy and warmth you so freely share with everyone around you. We love you and celebrate you today.

Happy Birthday, Mai Chitima.
We love you. We honour you. We thank God for you.

Today, with hearts full of gratitude and admiration, we celebrate a remarkable woman — Mrs Chirume.

As the Chiwaridzo Corps Media Team, we are truly blessed to serve alongside you and to witness the beauty of your calling in action. Yours is a life that speaks — not in noise, but in quiet strength, unwavering commitment, and a deep, unshakable passion for Christ.

Mrs Chirume, we have seen your dedication. We have seen your hunger for excellence and your tireless pursuit of growth. In your humility, we have encountered a rare kind of leadership — one that lifts others, one that serves, one that builds.

You carry the responsibility of Corps Secretary with such grace and diligence, ensuring that the house of the Lord is administered with order, professionalism, and purpose. Even in the midst of demanding moments, your spirit remains gentle, and your radiant, infectious smile continues to encourage and uplift us all.

Wisdom fountain — that is what you are. To many, you are affectionately known as Sis Mid, and indeed, you are a big sister to many — a source of guidance, a pillar of strength, and a giver of great counsel. Some may say you are a woman of few words, but when you speak, heaven listens. What flows from your mouth is wisdom, deep understanding, and counsel inspired by the Word of God — words that build, correct, and uplift.

Mai Tadi, when you smile, we see love flowing from the depths of your heart. You carry a gentle spirit — always smiling, always speaking with a soft and calming voice. Yet we do not mistake that softness for weakness, for within it lies authority, conviction, and a presence that commands respect without demanding it.

Your life is a quiet sermon — teaching us that true greatness is found in service, that strength is clothed in humility, and that leadership is proven through consistency and love.

On this special day, we pray that God remembers you richly. May He replenish every strength you have poured out, honour every sacrifice you have made, and open doors that reflect His divine favour upon your life. May your journey ahead be filled with peace, elevation, and fulfilment beyond measure.

We also take this moment to sincerely appreciate Mr Chirume, whose support stands as a strong pillar in your life. Truly, behind such a graceful and impactful woman is a foundation of strength, and for that, we are grateful.

Mrs Chirume, we celebrate you. We honour you. We thank God for the blessing that you are to Chiwaridzo Corps.

Continue to shine, continue to serve, and continue to be a vessel of honour in the house of the Lord.

“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles…” — Isaiah 40:31

Happy Birthday, Mrs Chirume. May your strength be renewed for even greater works ahead. 🙏

*Beyond Our Church Circles: A Sunday That Taught Us the Power of Unity at Chiwaridzo Corps*

By Chiwaridzo media

"In a world where we often pass each other unnoticed, God’s love reminds us that every face in His house is family."

Today, Chiwaridzo Corps experienced a Sunday that would linger in hearts long after the final hymn. What usually begins as a familiar, routine service became a profound lesson in unity, compassion, and connection—a reminder that the church is far more than a building or a weekly ritual; it is a sanctuary where hearts meet, burdens are shared, and strangers become family.

During the offering, Major Shayamano made a simple, yet deeply moving announcement: congregants were to give their offerings with their “friends.” For a heartbeat, confusion flickered across the sanctuary—then realization dawned. She meant the person seated right next to them—the familiar face seen week after week, yet rarely truly known. For a brief moment, hesitation hung in the air. Then, slowly, courage sparked. One by one, members reached beyond their comfort zones—someone from another row, a different age group, a neighbor whose name they may have never learned. Hands touched. Eyes met. Hearts opened. Together, they walked to the altar.

What appeared to be a simple act of giving quickly revealed a deeper truth: how easy it is to sit beside someone week after week without a word, without a smile, without truly seeing them. And yet, each person carries a story—silent burdens, hidden griefs, unspoken prayers, dreams weighed down by doubt. In that short walk to the altar, invisible walls crumbled. Hesitation turned to smiles. Strangers became companions. Conversations bloomed where silence once lived. A small gesture became a living sermon, teaching fellowship, empathy, and love in ways words alone could never convey.

Through this simple, thoughtful initiative, Major Shayamano transformed a routine ritual into a profound lesson: church is not only about what we give—it is about who we see, how we reach out, and the family we build in Christ. As 1 Corinthians 12:12 reminds us: "For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body—so it is with Christ."

Today, Chiwaridzo Corps became a living reflection of this truth—many stories, many faces, yet one heart united in faith, compassion, and love.

Perhaps the most powerful takeaway from this Sunday with a difference is simple yet profound: the person sitting next to you may be carrying a burden you cannot see, fighting a battle you do not know, or whispering prayers through silent tears. Sometimes the comfort they need begins not with a sermon, but with a smile, a greeting, or a hand willing to walk beside them.

For the church is more than a gathering; it is a sanctuary where hearts are lifted, burdens shared, and familiar faces become family through the love of Christ.

🌸 Happy Birthday, Mrs. T. Katanda (née Chisango) 🌸

Today, we don’t just celebrate your birthday — we celebrate a woman of vision, heart, and divine impact.

As the Head of Media, you have been the quiet hand behind powerful messages, impactful coverage, and meaningful storytelling in our corps. But beyond the title, you’ve been a light, a guide, and a blessing to all who’ve worked with you.

Too often, we wait to give eulogies when someone is gone. But today, we give you your flowers while you’re still here — blooming, vibrant, and making a difference.

Your words have healed.
Your excellence has lifted the standard.
Your faith has shaped the atmosphere.
Your heart has touched many, including us.

As the Chiwaridzo Media Team, we are proud to walk this journey with you. You’ve shown us that media is not just about messages — it’s about ministry.

So today, we say:
Happy Birthday, Ma’am!
May grace continue to crown your life. May joy fill your home. And may the God you serve continue to honour your steps.

Thank you for being our leader, our mentor, and our example.
We celebrate you — fully and joyfully!💐🎉📸

“Some Lives Speak Louder Than Words” – A Birthday Tribute to Mrs. Katanda (née Chisango)

Today, heaven must be smiling. Because on this day, God gave us you.

As I reflect on our journey — from dusty school corridors to this sacred friendship — I am moved to tears. What started as classmates has become something rare and priceless: a sisterhood, a bond forged in grace. And if I could sum up your life in one word, it would be this: Impact.

You have lived a life that heals. A life that teaches without shouting. A life that builds others without asking for applause.

Some of us were timid. Unsure. Carrying silent battles. But then you stepped in — softly, gently — and spoke courage into our shadows. You didn’t just give advice… you gave yourself. Your presence. Your prayers. Your faith. Your belief in us when we didn't believe in ourselves.

I walk with my shoulders high today because you chose to stoop low to lift me.

When I look at how far we’ve come, I see the fingerprints of God all over your life. Every added year is grace written in time. You carry storms with poise. You counsel with scripture. You pour out hope like it never runs out. And somehow, through it all, you remain kind… gentle… and unshakably strong.

You’ve always said, “The spirit of excellence lives in me.”
Well, today I testify — I have tapped into that excellence, and I am better because of it.

Proverbs 31:25-26 says:
“She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.”
That is you — every word, every line.

Mother Teresa once said:
*“Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”
But you, Mrs. Katanda, have done great things— and done them all with great love.

You are the kind of woman whose life preaches without a microphone, whose counsel softens hardened hearts, whose faith revives the dead dreams in others.

You have raised hope where there was none.
You have given peace when chaos surrounded us.
You have stood in the gap when others walked away.

So today, I honour you.
Not just with words, but with tears of gratitude.

Tears for every seed you’ve sown in silence.
Tears for every sacrifice only heaven knows.
Tears because this world is better with you in it.

And let me say this — loud and clear:

Too often, we wait until funerals to say, “You mattered. You changed me.”
We give eulogies… but not encouragement.
We bring wreaths… but not words.

Not today. Not for you.

Today, we give you your flowers while you live.
While you can still smell them, feel them, and smile.

Because your life deserves to be celebrated — now.
You are grace in motion.
A bridge builder.
A peace bearer.
A light that keeps shining.

Happy Birthday, Maiguru. Mentor. Friend. Sister.
Your life is a sermon we will never stop reading.
And today, we celebrate you.

With love and honour,
*Someone forever changed by your grace* 💐✨
