God knew that the people of Niniveh were Gentiles and for this reason, it was not possible for those Gentiles to receive the gospel of repentance without a SIGN of the death of Christ for three days and three nights, and his resurrection from the dead.
This explains why God made Jonah to be swallowed by the fish and be in the belly of the fish for three days and three nights, and finally be vomited out upon the dry ground.
God's way is just amazing.
May honour and glory be with him forever and ever. Amen
