UCZ COMMENDED FOR STRONGER COMMUNITY TIES
President Hakainde Hichilema has assured the Church of government 's shared investment across all denominations.
President Hichilema said contributions by the government to the Church are not favoured but a shared progress.
He said his office is committed to a noble duty of investing in evangelism and God's work.
He was speaking in Kabwe today when he officiated at the grand commemoration of the United Church of Zambia (UCZ) Diamond Jubilee event to mark 60 years of the Church's existence.
The President has commended the UCZ for it's remarkable role in building the moral fiber of Zambian people.
He also expressed gratitude at the role the UCZ has played in serving communities through it's work in mission health facilities and schools dotted across the country.
"We value the partnerships between the government and Church in reaching remote communities,we want to assure you that we are not competitors but complimentors in development "he echoed.
And UCZ Acting General Secretary Rev.Emmanual Bwalya says the UCZ has remained united for the last six decades not by tribe but by faith.
Rev.Bwalya said the United Church of Zambia values the strategic partnership with
government in the socio-economic development of the country .
"We work alongside government in education, healthcare, and community
development among other sectors that impact millions of Zambians,"he said.
Rev.Bwalya emphasized that as UCZ clocks 60 years,it remains committed to spreading the word of God and beyond.
Speaking in his homily,UCZ Synod Bishop Rev. Festus Chulu said the celebration of 60 years of existence reminds the Church to stand as a renewed and revived front.
Bishop Chulu also reminded UCZ members to embrace unity and oneness as it signifies solidarity.
The United Church of Zambia (UCZ) held it's grand and closing Diamond Jubilee Celebrations under the theme "UCZ at 60,changing the narrative."
