THE NEED FOR PREACHING TO THE SOUL UNDER A STORM
•Storms in life represent trials, difficulties, and seasons of testing.
•The bible shows that storms can have both painful effects and positive spiritual outcomes when we trust God.
1. STORMS BRING FEAR AND ANXIETY
🔸Storms often make us feel uncertain and afraid.
🔸The disciples feared for their lives during the storm - MARK 4:38-40
🔸Since God is in control, storms test our faith
2. WE MAY LOSE POSSESSIONS, OPPORTUNITIES, RELATIONSHIPS, OR COMFORT
🔸JOB 1:13-22
3. STORMS HUMBLE US
🔸They remind us that we cannot control everything and need God's help.
🔸2 CORINTHIAN'S 12:9-10.
4. MANY PEOPLE PRAY MORE SINCERELY AND SEEK GOD'S PRESENCE DURING HARDSHIP.
🔸PSALM 46:1; PSALM 34:17-18.
5. STORMS REVEAL GOD'S POWER AND FAITHFULNESS
🔸God often demonstrates his ability to save, provide, and protect in the middle of the storm.
🔸MARK 4:39; EXODUS 14:13-14.
6. Our experiences equip us to comfort and encourage those facing similar trials.
🔸2 CORINTHIANS 1:3-4.
7. STORMS STRENGTHEN OUR HOPE
🔸As God brings us through difficulties, our confidence in his promises grows.
🔸ROMANS 8:28; ISAIAH 43:2.
COMMON SERMONS NEEDED UNDER THE STORM
👉When preaching to your soul, you intentionally replace fear, doubt, and discouragement with God‘s promises. e.g.
1. WHEN YOUR SOUL IS AFRAID
•Promise: "fear not, for i am with you..." — ISAIAH 41:10
•Sermon to your soul:
•My soul, do not fear. God is with me. he will strengthen me, help me, and uphold me with his righteous right hand.
2. WHEN YOU FEEL HOPELESS
•Promise: "for i know the plans I have for you..." — JEREMIAH 29:11
•Sermon to your soul:
🔸My soul, God has good plans for me. my future is in his hands, and he will give me hope.
3. WHEN YOU FEEL ALONE
•Promise: "I will never leave you nor forsake you." — HEBREWS 13:5
•Sermon to your soul:
🔸"My soul, you are not alone. the lord is always with you."
4. WHEN YOU ARE DISCOURAGED
•Promise: "those who wait on the lord shall renew their strength." — ISAIAH 40:31
•Sermon to your soul:
🔸"My soul, wait on the lord. your strength will be renewed, and you will rise above this trial."
5. WHEN YOU FEEL GUILTY
Promise: "there is therefore now no condemnation..." — ROMANS 8:1
•Preach to your soul:
🔸"My soul, christ has forgiven you. live in his grace and freedom."
6. WHEN YOU FACE DIFFICULT CIRCUMSTANCES
Promise: "and we know that all things work together for good..." — ROMANS 8:28
•Sermon to your soul:
🔸"My soul, even this situation is in God's hands. he will work it for my good."
7. WHEN YOU NEED PEACE
Promise: "the peace of God... will guard your hearts and minds." — PHILIPPIANS 4:6–7
•Sermon to your soul:
🔸"My soul, do not be anxious. pray, trust God, and receive his peace."
8. WHEN YOU FEEL WEAK
Promise: "my grace is sufficient for you, for my strength is made perfect in weakness." — 2 CORINTHIANS 12:9
•Preach to your soul:
🔸"My soul, God's grace is enough. his strength is greater than my weakness."
9. WHEN YOU NEED COURAGE
Promise: "be strong and courageous... for the lord your God is with you wherever you go." — JOSHUA 1:9
•Sermon to your soul:
🔸"My soul, be courageous. God goes before you and walks beside you."
10. WHEN YOU NEED VICTORY
Promise: "in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us." — ROMANS 8:37
•Sermon to your soul
🔸My soul, you are not defeated. through christ, you are more than a conqueror.
