THEME : SERVING MY GENERATION
TEXT : ACTS 13:36 📖
TO SERVE MY GENERATION MEANS
1. SOLVING PROBLEMS GOD SHOWS YOU. NEH. 2:17-18
🔸See areas of ruins in people’s areas of ruins in people’s lives, families, church & communities.
🔸Nehemiah responded to the broken walls of Jerusalem.
👉Those who serve their generations do not ignore the burdens and problems around them.
👉God often reveals problem (burden or assignment) to people he intends to use as solutions. you’re on a mission!!!
👉are you moved when u see / hear problems?
👉Do u propose solution? - (let us build) vs 18
👉God does not reveal problems merely to make us complain; he reveals them so that we can participate in the solution (ISAIAH 58:12)
👉Revival & rebuilding is not one person’s responsibility. every believer has a role to play. 1 COR. 12:12-27
👉Understand the call to serve the call to serve better. kingdom advances when believers answer the call.
👉Therefore, recognize the ruins, respond to it, rebuild and remove reproach.
2. STANDING FOR THE TRUTH IN YOUR TIME
🔸 DANIEL 1:8 – Daniel purposed in his heart not to defile himself in Babylon.
🔸Defilement starts with compromise in small things. e.g. sinful practices, dishonesty, sexual impurity, bitterness & unforgiveness, etc (MARK 7:20-21)
🔸Live by conviction & not by conviction & not convenient.
🔸 Daniel refused to let Babylon enter his heart even though he was forced to live in it.
🔸Believers can live in a corrupt can live in a corrupt culture without allowing that culture to corrupt them.
3. INFLUENCING PEOPLE TOWARDS GOD
🔸MATTHEW 5:14-16 – believers are the light of the world.
🔸Light represent guidance & truth.
🔸Believers guides others by living according to God’s word.
🔸They help others to see god’s way.
🔸Faith is meant to be public & not. private. a city on a hill cannot be hidden. Jesus said, hidden light is ineffective.
🔸A lump is placed on a stand, not under.
🔸God wants you to influence others, not just to exist for comfort. 1 Timothy 4:12 – by being an example to believers.
🔸To be a light is not for personal recognition but for God’s glory shine through; love, integrity, service, witness and faith.
SUMMARY
TO SERVE MY GENERATION MEANS;
1. Solving problems God shows you.
2. Standing for the truth in your time.
3. Influencing people towards God.
CONCLUSION
👉John the baptist served by preparing people for the coming Christ.
👉Are you preparing people for the coming of Jesus now and forever??
