Today's Title: THE TEST OF TIME
Text: Luke 16:16-17
‘The Law and the Prophets were proclaimed until John. Since that time, the good news of the kingdom of God is being preached, and everyone is forcing their way into it. It is easier for heaven and earth to disappear than for the least stroke of a pen to drop out of the Law. (NIV)

Generally speaking, if something does not last, it has little value. The test of time proves the reliability of a product, the depth of a relationship, and the potency of an idea. Jesus never disrespected the Old Testament law, but He pointed to Himself as the person who was fulfilling it (Matthew 5:17). Up until the time of John the Baptist, the Old Testament law was the only guidance to know what was good and pleasing to God. But when Jesus came, the ordinary people saw that He was good in every way - pleasing to God and good news for the world (John 6:38) – to follow Him was to please God (John 6:29).
But the Pharisees and religious lawyers had a vested interest in perpetuating the law and despising Jesus. Like all professional legalists they made their money by claiming to be experts in interpretation. However, time and time again Jesus showed that their understanding was very limited, and they were blind to the fact that He was the fulfilment of more than 2,000 years of prophesy (John 8:56).

On the other hand, the gospel of the kingdom was so attractive that many people in the towns and villages forced their way through the crowds to hear what Jesus had to say (Mark 5:24). The religious experts simply could not see that Jesus honoured every word that the prophets had written. These truths had stood the test of time and now revealed Jesus as God's answer to sin - the world's inability to keep God's righteous law (Romans 3:23).
Today many people are searching for the truth, and it is not far away from them. Jesus is the only person who has fully kept God's law and the only person who can rescue us from His punishment

Today's title: RELIGIOUS PRIDE REJECTS REPENTANCE
Text: Luke 15:25-32
‘Meanwhile, the elder son was in the field. When he came near the house, he heard music and dancing. So he called one of the servants and asked him what was going on. “Your brother has come,” he replied, “and your father has killed the fattened calf because he has him back safe and sound.” ‘The elder brother became angry and refused to go in. So his father went out and pleaded with him. But he answered his father, “Look! All these years I’ve been slaving for you and never disobeyed your orders. Yet you never gave me even a young goat so I could celebrate with my friends. But when this son of yours who has squandered your property with prostitutes comes home, you kill the fattened calf for him!” (NIVUK)

The parable of the 'prodigal son' (Luke 15:11-32) is now overshadowed by the grumpy 'loyal son'. Of the two lads, the younger chose to waste his father's inheritance while the older son remained working on the farm. But his reaction to his younger brother's return was anger and contempt. He was intensely jealous of the extravagance of the love which was showered on the one who did not deserve it (1 John 3:1).

Arguing with his father, the older son exposed his attitude of resentful and grudging compliance when he protested that he never had any celebration with his friends and a reward for his dutiful service. The wise father responded that the whole estate belonged to the whole family; but for one who disowned his family and then returned, a celebration was in order. It was a public gift to show that he was fully restored to the family. Although the older son was invited to join in, the story does not tell his final reaction. Jesus intended that ‘hanging' ending would provoke the dutiful religious people to wonder if they were really in relationship with God – as Jesus welcomed the corrupt tax collectors and immoral people (Luke 15:1-2).

Today's Title: The Glory Of The Lord

Text: 2 Chronicles 7:3
And when all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory of the LORD upon the house, they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the pavement, and worshipped, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.

In our text, Solomon had ended his prayer and fire came down from heaven to consume the sacrifices, "and the glory of the LORD filled the house”. Clearly, the fire from heaven was a signal of God's acceptance of the offering that was made. The glory of the Lord was the visible manifestation of His presence and splendour.

The Lord was pleased with Solomon's offering; the evidence was the fire that came down from heaven and consumed the sacrifice. In dedicating the house of God, Solomon bountifully offered twenty two thousand oxen, and a hundred and twenty thousand sheep. What a way of giving back to God part of what He has blessed him with! The dedication ofthe temple afforded the king the opportunity to bring all the children of Israel together to have fellowship and to offer sacrifices before the Lord.

Today, while it is good to build magnificent places of worship for the people to worship the Lord, it is more important and acceptable to "present [our] bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is [our] reasonable service” (Romans 12:1). Our bodies must be preserved for God's use. We should also be willing to sacrifice all that He has blessed us with, including our very lives, on the altar of His service. This way, we will always experience the glory of God in our assemblies.

Prayer & Meditation:
The beIiever's body is the temple of the Holy Spirit.

TRUE TO TYPE
Luke 6:43-45‘
No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. Each tree is recognised by its own fruit. People do not pick figs from thorn-bushes, or grapes from briers. A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of. (NIVUK)

Fruit of all kinds including figs, olives and grapes - grown on trees and vines - have been the mainstay of the Mediterranean economy for centuries. Of course, a diseased tree will hardly support any fruit, while a healthy tree always promises a good crop in a predictable climate. Everybody listening to Jesus knew that the type and variety of fruit depended on the nature of the tree or vine, so He used this illustration to show that people behave according to what is in their heart. Wickedness comes out of evil hearts (Hosea 10:13) and graciousness out of sanctified hearts.

In training the disciples for their future role as church leaders, Jesus needed to emphasise the radical difference between His Kingdom and religion. Religious people can be sincere, informed and socially helpful; but the nature of their hearts is not changed by their indoctrination (Jeremiah 9:8). Our worst excesses may be restrained by rules, but love does not naturally come out of hate any more than grapes come from briars. Caught off-guard, we say what we really mean.

Jesus is recorded as taking this further in Matthew 12:34-37, when speaking to the religious leaders: ‘You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of. A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him. But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for

Topic: Angels Have Charge Over Us

Text: He is my refuge... Psalm 91:2

Modern psychiatrists say that one of the basic needs of man is security. In the 91st Psalm we are assured that in God we have the greatest of security, “There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For He shall give His angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.” If you read and reread this beautiful Psalm, you will discover that in Him we have a permanent abode and residence, and that all of the comfort, security, and affection which the human heart craves is found in Him. Perhaps no visible angels will appear in your life and mine, but God’s promise of security is nonetheless real and certain. Those who live in the realm of God have genuine safety and security.

Good night?

The salvation of man is by God's grace (unmerited favour) and not by law.
In case you don't know, law came:
1. To show us God's standard
2. To convince us that we are sinners.
3. It tells us what to do next
4. It shows us that we need a Saviour
5. It's our tutor unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith
6. It cannot give us the power to obey.
Hence, Christ has done all the work necessary for our salvation. On the Cross He cried, "it is consummated." In other word It is finished. My dear, friend you don't have to worry anymore just repent your sins and believe in Christ Jesus as your Lord Saviour you are saved.
Amen!!
