THE WOMAN WITH THE ISSUE OF BLOOD
📖 “For she said within herself, If I may but touch His garment, I shall be whole.” — Matthew 9:21
There are moments in life when pain becomes so heavy that words can no longer explain it. The woman with the issue of blood carried such pain for twelve long years. Day after day she suffered physically, emotionally, and spiritually. She spent everything she had searching for healing, yet nothing changed. Her condition only grew worse. But when the world had no answers left for her, Heaven still had a plan. Her story reminds us that when human strength fails, the power of Jesus Christ still remains undefeated.
This woman was considered unclean according to the law, rejected by society, isolated from people, and forgotten by many. Yet while others saw her condition, Jesus saw her faith. Sometimes people will define you by your struggle, but God will always define you by your destiny. The crowd saw a weak woman, but Heaven saw a faith warrior pressing through pain to reach the Savior.
The beauty of this story is that she refused to surrender to hopelessness. For twelve years she carried disappointment, but she never allowed disappointment to bury her faith. Some people quit after one bad season, but this woman kept believing through years of suffering. Her faith became stronger than her fear. Her desperation pushed her toward Jesus instead of away from Him.
As Jesus walked through the crowd, the woman said within herself, “If I may but touch His garment, I shall be whole.” She did not ask for attention. She did not need a stage. She only needed one touch from the Master. True faith understands that one moment in the presence of Jesus can change what years of suffering could not heal. One encounter with Christ can reverse seasons of pain in an instant.
The crowd was pressing around Jesus, but only one touch carried faith. Many people were near Jesus physically, but this woman reached Him spiritually. There is a difference between being around God and truly believing Him. Faith is what separates a casual follower from someone expecting a miracle. Hebrews 11:6 says, “But without faith it is impossible to please Him.” Her faith moved Heaven before her hand even touched His garment.
The moment she touched the hem of His robe, power flowed from Jesus into her broken body. Immediately the bleeding stopped. Immediately the suffering ended. Immediately the years of pain lost their grip over her life. Jesus did not need to speak first. His power responded to faith. This is the God we serve — a God whose power is still alive, still moving, and still healing today.
Jesus stopped and asked, “Who touched Me?” Not because He lacked knowledge, but because He wanted her faith to be revealed publicly. God will sometimes bring your testimony into the light because your breakthrough is meant to strengthen others. The miracle was not only about healing her body; it was about restoring her dignity, her identity, and her confidence before people again.
When the woman came trembling before Jesus, He spoke words that changed her forever: “Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole.” Notice that Jesus called her daughter before He spoke about her healing. This reveals the heart of God. Before He changes your condition, He reminds you that you belong to Him. Your identity in Christ is greater than the battle you are fighting.
This woman’s miracle teaches us that faith presses through obstacles. The crowd was large. Her body was weak. Society rejected her. Yet none of those things stopped her from reaching Jesus. Blind Bartimaeus cried louder when others tried to silence him, and this woman pushed harder when circumstances tried to block her. Genuine faith refuses to quit until it touches the heart of God.
Psalm 107:20 says, “He sent His word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.” The same healing power that restored this woman still flows today through the name of Jesus Christ. God is still able to heal wounded hearts, restore broken families, remove shame, and bring life back into situations that seem hopeless. Heaven has not run out of miracles.
Many people today are bleeding internally. Some are bleeding from rejection, betrayal, depression, grief, disappointment, or silent struggles nobody knows about. They smile in public while suffering in private. But the story of this woman reminds us that Jesus is not intimidated by long battles. What has lasted for years can still be broken by the power of God in one divine moment.
The enemy wanted this woman to believe her condition would define the rest of her life. But Jesus stepped into her story and rewrote her future. That is what grace does. Grace interrupts suffering. Grace restores what pain tried to destroy. Isaiah 53:5 declares, “By His stripes we are healed.” Through Christ, healing is not just physical; it is spiritual, emotional, and eternal.
This miracle also teaches us that faith requires movement. She could have stayed home crying about her condition, but instead she moved toward Jesus. Sometimes your breakthrough begins when you decide to pray again, believe again, worship again, and trust God again even after disappointment. Faith moves before results appear. Faith reaches before miracles happen.
The woman with the issue of blood walked into that crowd as a broken sufferer, but she walked away as living proof that Jesus still restores the impossible. Her pain had an expiration date the moment faith touched Christ. The same Savior who stopped for her still stops for the hurting today. No sickness is too hard, no shame is too deep, and no situation is beyond the reach of God’s power. When faith touches Jesus, everything can change.
