TOPIC: TAKING ACTION IN THE TIME OF CRISIS
TEXT: ESTHER 3:5-8, 4:1-17
1. The story of Esther, Mordecai and the Jews
-Everybody knelt down but Mordecai refused.
-There was honor and disappointment
2. The reaction was of Mordecai- He tore clothes, put on sackcloth and ashes and wept bitterly.
3. The reaction of Esther- She was in great distress
-She sent her officials to inquire what the problem was
-she gave excuses
-She later changed her mind and took action.
4.The reaction of the King
-He responded with favor
-Asked Esther to give her request
-The King could not sleep
-He inquired about how Mordecai can be honoured
-He ordered Haman to honour Mordecai
-He ordered Haman to be hanged on the same gallows he prepared for Mordecai.
