The sudden passing of Elder Mumbuluma Joseph of Luena Adventist Mission District, Luapula Zambia Conference, has left hearts cold and many in grief across the district and beyond.
His passing followed a road traffic accident involving two motorcycles that collided, leaving him terribly injured before he eventually succumbed to his injuries.
Following the family and church arrangements, the deceased was laid to rest today in Lengwe, Luena District. The funeral drew hundreds of mourners from the nearby community and beyond, including people from other districts. Among those present was the Luapula Zambia Conference President, Pastor Ronald Mwindula, who offered words of encouragement from the book of Psalms 144:4. He reflected on the unpredictability of life and reminded the mourners of the need to remain prepared, as life is but a shadow. "Man is like a breath; his days are like a passing shadow"
Pastor Mwindula was accompanied by other pastors, including Pastor Kasongo Sherard, Pastor Moses Zimba, Pastor Eugen Kaoma, Pastor Haggai Tambe, and Pastor Mudenda, who came to mourn and stand with the family, church, and community during this difficult time.
In their voices of mourning, family members, church leaders, and community members reflected on the life lost, echoing one another as they spoke of Elder Mumbuluma's service to the church and the wider community. He was remembered for his commitment to various community development endeavours and his willingness to serve wherever he was needed.
Speaking on behalf of Pastor Joshua Chapi, the Youth Director, who was unable to attend due to other duties, Pastor Moses Zimba delivered a message from the Youth Ministries of the Luapula Zambia Conference. He acknowledged the deceased as Master Guide Mumbuluma Joseph, who served as the Associate District Youth Leader for Luena Mission District until the time of his death, a gallant soldier of the Cross. He then spoke God's comfort upon the bereaved family and encouraged the youth to emulate the good deeds and example left by the deceased.
Truly, Elder/MG Mumbuluma lived a life worth appreciating, touching both the church and the wider community through his service.
The church service and burial were conducted successfully, with mourners coming together to honour his life and commit him to rest.
