In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Heavenly Father,
we thank You for the gift of this new day and for the blessings of life, faith, and hope.

Lord Jesus, guide our steps today. Give us hearts that are humble, patient, forgiving, and ready to serve others. Strengthen those who are struggling, comfort those who are grieving, heal the sick, and provide for those in need.

Holy Spirit, fill us with Your wisdom and peace. Help us to remain faithful to God even when life becomes difficult. Protect our families, our children, our parish community, and all those entrusted to our prayers.

Mary, Mother of the Church, pray for us and lead us closer to your Son, Jesus.

Lord, may everything we do today bring glory to Your Holy Name. Amen. 🙏🏽

🌹 Memorial of Our Lady of Sorrows

O Mary, Our Lady of Sorrows,
you who stood faithfully beneath the Cross of your Son, Jesus Christ, teach us to remain faithful to God even in times of pain, suffering, uncertainty and trials.

Mother of compassion, look kindly upon all who are carrying heavy burdens today. Comfort those who are grieving, strengthen those who are discouraged, heal those who are wounded in body and spirit, and give hope to those who feel lost.

Help us to learn from your faith, patience and courage. May we never run away from God in our difficult moments, but draw closer to Him, trusting that every suffering offered with faith can lead us closer to Christ.

Our Lady of Sorrows, pray for us.
Pray for our families, our parish community and the whole Church.
Pray for peace in our hearts and in our world.

Through Christ our Lord.

BISHOP EDWIN MULANDU CALLS FOR PRAYERS FOR PEACE AHEAD OF ZAMBIA’S 2026 ELECTIONS

The Catholic Bishop of Mpika, Rt. Rev. Edwin M. Mulandu, has urged all parishes, religious communities, and the lay faithful in the Diocese of Mpika to intensify prayers for peaceful and credible elections ahead of Zambia’s 2026 General Elections.

In a memorandum dated 6th August 2026, Bishop Mulandu condemned recent incidents of election-related violence in parts of Zambia. He described them as “a source of deep concern” and called on Zambians to renew their commitment to peace, justice, truth, reconciliation, and national unity.

While thanking God for the peace that continues to prevail in Muchinga Province and the Diocese of Mpika, the Bishop directed that special prayers be offered throughout the Diocese leading up to and after the elections.

The Prayer Intentions include:

1. Protection from violence, hatred, division and destruction of property
2. Healing for victims of recent violence
3. Wisdom and dialogue for political leaders, candidates, electoral officials and security personnel
4. Preservation of peace in Muchinga Province
5. Truthful campaigns free of misinformation and hate
6. Peaceful, free, fair, transparent and credible elections

Bishop Mulandu further directed that:

1. Holy Mass for Peace and Credible Elections be celebrated in every parish from 10th to 12th August, 2026 at 17:00hrs

2. The faithful are also encouraged to pray the Holy Rosary

3. Spend time in Eucharistic Adoration

4. Recite the attached Prayer for Peace at every Mass until further notice

He invoked the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of Peace, for Zambia.

The event saw choir members take a beautiful trip down memory lane, dressed in classic vintage outfits that honored the timeless style, wisdom and legacy of our grandparents and the elderly.

It was a joyful and memorable way to celebrate those who have paved the way for us, reminding us that their faith, love and sacrifices continue to inspire generations.
