Topic: MAKE SURE YOU ARE REALLY STANDING
"Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall." 1 Corinthians 10:12
Some people think they are standing when, in actual fact, they have fallen.
There is nothing more dangerous than falling and not knowing it. At least the person who knows they've fallen can cry out for help. But the one who has fallen and still believes they're standing has no urgency to rise, because in their own eyes, there's nothing to rise from.
This is why the Scripture doesn't say "let him that has fallen take heed." It says let him that thinks he stands take heed.
Maybe it's selfishness that has quietly crept in, and you call it self-love. Maybe it's compromise that has settled into your life, and you call it "balance" or "being relatable." Maybe it's coldness toward God that has set in, and you call it "just going through a busy season." Falling is not always dramatic. Sometimes it is a slow, comfortable drift from your commitment and steadfastness in Christ.
Peter warned: "...beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own steadfastness" (2 Peter 3:17).
Take heed. Examine yourself. Paul told the Corinthians to do exactly that: "Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves" (2 Corinthians 13:5). Ask yourself the honest questions. Is your walk with God better today than it was yesterday?
PRAYER
Dear Father, thank you for your Word that inspires growth, discipline and spiritual strength in me. Amen.
