VERSE
Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. Romans 8:38

DEVOTION
No matter what life throws at us - temptations, persecution - we can be victorious. As we grow in our faith, we must fight the good fight. Challenges, frustration, disappointment, and failure may come, but we must stand strong in the Lord and fight with faith. Don't let Satan see us defeated - put on a smile and fight with faith, and we will always win. Through Christ, we are more than conquerors!

VERSE
2 Peter 1:4 (KJV) Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

INSPIRATION
Promises have been made and kept to us. We were given the gift of potential everlasting life. All we must do is to avoid the temptations of Satan, the sins of this finite world. It sounds so simple when the reward is eternal life, but as we all know, it is much easier said than done.

PRAYER
I vow to always worship You, O Lord, and rejoice in Your name. Forgive me for my many transgressions for I have sinned. I pray that You help deliver me from this evil, hardening my heart to the evils of this world. Through Your glory, I know that all things are possible, gracious Lord, my rock and strength. Amen.

VERSE
Deuteronomy 7:21 (KJV) Thou shalt not be affrighted at them: for the LORD thy God is among you, a mighty God and terrible.

INSPIRATION
Jehovah God was "among" the Israelites of old. He is the "landlord" of all the earth, and he decided to take the land of Canaan from the idolatrous and wicked Canaanites and give it to his people for an everlasting possession. Moses told Israel they need not fear what man could do to them since the mighty God of Jacob was in their midst.

PRAYER
O Friend of sinners, if you be for us, who can stand against us? If we take up your sword, your Word, and use it aright, and the Spirit wields it inwardly even as we wield it outwardly, Satan cannot defeat its power. Teach us to trust your Word, your truths, and your Spirit. Show us you power to save. Let us not be afraid when we know you are walking among us. Amen

VERSE
Matthew 5:14 (KJV) Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

INSPIRATION
What does light do? It eliminates all forms of darkness. As Christians, we carry light – Christ – and that light will help eliminate darkness from the lives of many. When we are in Christ, we cannot be stopped. The light cannot be put out. Shine your light; the world needs it!

PRAYER
Dear God, I pray that I will always be a pointer to you in every situation I find myself in. May this light that you have placed in me shine brightly and may it help more and more people come to you. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

VERSE

Hebrews 10:25 (KJV) Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

INSPIRATION

While we can have fellowship with God and with other Christians at other places than at church, God has established churches for our edification and growth in godliness. He commands us not to forsake to attend them in favor of merely watching preachers on TV or hearing no preaching of the Word at all.

PRAYER

Give me, O Lord, a strong desire to fellowship with your people and learn from your Word at a local Church that I can regularly attend. Help me to find the time and resources to attend it. Help me to consistently attend unless there be a valid reason why I'm unable to for a particular day. I love your people, O Lord, and desire a regular "church home." Amen

(VERSE)
Matthew 10:38-39 (KJV) And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.
He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

(INSPIRATION)
Anyone who chooses the things of the world, over a life with Christ, will end up being denied by Christ because they first denied Him. We should never let fear, greed, or pride try and convince us there is a better way than following Christ – such thoughts will lead to death and destruction. The sacrifices we make now, as we choose to be disciples of Christ, will seem like nothing when we see the beauty and the glory that lies ahead.

(PRAYER)
Dear God, I pray that I never be deceived into considering that anything to be worth more than a life with you. Such thinking is foolish and bound to bring sorrow and great pain. Lord, I know the heavenly gain that is in following Christ. I know the honor that is in being your child. I don’t see anything else that could be worth more. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

((REJOICE))

(THE MORE WE READ SCRIPTURE AND SEE HOW GOD IS ACTING IN OUR LIVES, THE MORE OUR FAITH BECOMES TRULY OUR OWN)

(VERSE)
Matthew 28:8-9 (KJV) And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word.
And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.

(INSPIRATION)
On the first day of the week, the women came to the tomb to perform the burial rites for Jesus as they had not had the time to anoint his body before it was buried. Imagine their surprise when they found the stone rolled back and the tomb empty of Jesus’ body and an angel sitting there waiting for them. He told them that Jesus had risen and was going before them into Galilee and they were to go and tell the disciples. Then, Jesus, himself, greeted them. Can you even begin to imagine their wonder and joy? In this, Matthew’s Gospel, the disciples believe them and do go to Galilee where Jesus met them. In the other Gospel accounts, they were suspicious of the women’s account and had to go see for themselves that it was true. What was our reaction to the resurrection when we first heard it? Did you immediately believe, or did you have doubts? Faith is an interesting thing. It really doesn’t become our own until we examine our beliefs and test them. The women didn’t need to believe that Jesus had risen because they saw and heard him themselves. The disciples weren’t convinced. First, they had to check it for themselves. They were still trying to wrap their heads around his crucifixion. Jesus had warned them, but they didn’t understand what he was trying to tell them. Even Peter, James and John who had witnessed his transfiguration didn’t get it. And so Peter and John hurried to the tomb to check it out. It’s okay for us to have doubts as well. The more we read Scripture and see how God is acting in our lives, the more our faith becomes truly our own.

(PRAYER)
Thank you Lord, for giving us the witness stories of those who saw you following your resurrection. May we continue to see you each day as you journey with us on the path of faith. Amen

((JEREMIAH'S WARNINGS))

(JESUS CHRIST'S NAME WILL BE REMEMBERED BECAUSE OF US AND THOSE WITH WHOM WE SHARE THE GOOD NEWS)

(VERSE)
Jeremiah 11:18-19 (KJV) And the LORD hath given me knowledge of it, and I know it: then thou shewedst me their doings.
But I was like a lamb or an ox that is brought to the slaughter; and I knew not that they had devised devices against me, saying, Let us destroy the tree with the fruit thereof, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered.

(INSPIRATION)
Jeremiah’s warnings made the leaders in Judea very uncomfortable because of the fear he was trying to instill in the people so that they would turn back to God and abandon worshiping the false gods of Baal. They plotted against him but failed to stop him. The leaders of Jesus’ time plotted against him and hoped that the name of Jesus would be remembered no more. They continued even after Jesus’ death to stop the disciples from preaching in the name of Jesus. Their efforts there failed as well. Today, we know the names of Jeremiah and Jesus, but we don’t know the names of the plotters of Jeremiah’s death and we don’t know the names of the Pharisees. It seems that the more people try to silence those who are working to do the right thing the more their names are known and their truths spread. Seldom do we know the names of those who oppose them. Gandhi worked for justice for the people of India. Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation that ended slavery in America. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. worked to end segregation and other acts of injustice in the United States. Nelson Mandela was a prisoner for many years in South Africa and helped to end apartheid. L**h Walesa was a key figure of the Solidarity movement in Poland which helped to lessen the hold of the government on business. These names will remain known because of their historical significance. I don’t know the names of those who opposed them, do you? In order for all of the above to have succeeded there were the unknown and unsung that supported them. Jesus’ name will be remembered because of us and those with whom we share the Good News.

(PRAYER)
Almighty and eternal God, you supported Jeremiah during his ministry even though the rulers tried to silence him. We know you will support us as we work to spread the good news and work to establish a climate of love and justice in our world today. Amen
