DONT GIVE ROOM FOR THE EVIL SPIRIT OF FAMILIARITY
“Jesus left and went back to his hometown. His followers went with him. On the Sabbath day Jesus taught in the synagogue, and many people heard him. They were amazed and said, “Where did this man get this teaching? How did he get such wisdom? Who gave it to him? And where did he get the power to do miracles? Isn’t he just the carpenter we know—Mary’s son, the brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And don’t his sisters still live here in town?” So they had a problem accepting him. Then Jesus said to them, “People everywhere give honor to a prophet, except in his own town, with his own people, or in his home.” Jesus was not able to do any miracles there except the healing of some sick people by laying his hands on them. He was surprised that the people there had no faith. Then he went to other villages in that area and taught.”
Mark 6:1-6 ERV
The scriptures above teaches us that when people are familiar and know the servant of God to much they lose the blessings ofGod that can come through that man of God. When Jesus was preaching in his home town, people who knew him from childhood and his parents started to doubt him, they said isn’t he the capenter’s son, what can he tell us. They despised him, and the Bible said, he couldn’t do miracles there.
Miracles happens in the place where people believe in God and his servant. You must believe in the prophet and pastor God has send to you, and you will see miracles happening in the church.
“So they rose early in the morning and went out into the Wilderness of Tekoa; and as they went out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, “Hear me, O Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem: Believe in the Lord your God, and you shall be established; believe His prophets, and you shall prosper.””
II Chronicles 20:20
As you come to church this Sunday, come believing In God and his Servant. Be like the Christians in the the times of the Apostles who believed their pastors.
“And through the hands of the apostles many signs and wonders were done among the people. And they were all with one accord in Solomon’s Porch. And believers were increasingly added to the Lord, multitudes of both men and women, so that they brought the sick out into the streets and laid them on beds and couches, that at least the shadow of Peter passing by might fall on some of them. Also a multitude gathered from the surrounding cities to Jerusalem, bringing sick people and those who were tormented by unclean spirits, and they were all healed.”
