The year was 2011, when I was just an enthusiastic young boy with a passion for ministry. I had the privilege of meeting Pastor Pitman Siamaundu at a camp meeting where he was the first speaker. One afternoon, my mother and I decided to pay him a visit so that he could encourage me in the decision I had made to become a minister in the future.
Pastor Siamaundu welcomed us and gave me two important lessons that I treasure to this day. The first was to read the Book of Proverbs for life. The second was when he gave me two apples, one rotten and one good. He then asked me to choose the apple I wanted and leave the other one for him. I chose the good apple. From that moment, he blessed me and encouraged me to always choose the right things in life if I was going to serve the Lord.
Fast forward to 2016, while I was at Rusangu University, I met a brother named Moses, the youngest son of Pastor Siamaundu. From there, my relationship with the family grew. The Siamaundu family has made a tremendous impact on my life as a young minister. So much so that even my desire to utilise my gifts in media ministry was encouraged by Pastor Siamaundu.
Today, I celebrate his life. I appreciate his ministry and his fatherhood. A man of prayer and a man after God’s own heart. He has left a huge space in our lives, especially in the lives of his family.
But the story does not end here. Someday, Jesus is coming back, and I long for the day when I will meet my pastor again and tell him my story as we walk through the pearly gates of heaven with our risen Saviour, Jesus Christ the Righteous.
