CHAPTER 5:

THE HARD DECISION

Days turned into weeks.
Bwalya tried to pray it away. Tried to hold on. Tried to believe things could go back to how they were.

But trust… once broken… is never the same.
Tony stopped pretending.
He admitted everything.
He had been with Samantha for years.
They were living together in the UK.
Years.

While she was at home raising their children. Waiting. Praying.

That truth changed everything.

One evening, Bwalya sat her children down.
Her heart was heavy, but her voice was calm.
“Your father and I are going through something,” she said gently. “But no matter what happens… we both love you.”

It wasn’t easy.

There were tears. Questions. Silence.
But she knew she had to be strong not just for herself, but for them.

After many conversations, family meetings, and guidance from church elders…
A decision was made.

They would separate.
And eventually… divorce.

Not out of hatred.

But because peace mattered.

To be continued!!

CHAPTER 4: WHEN TRUTH CAN’T BE HIDDEN

That night, Bwalya didn’t sleep.
Her eyes were swollen from crying, but her mind refused to rest.

Every memory replayed like a painful movie his voice, his promises, their prayers.
The next morning, she did something she had never imagined.

She called Tony.

He answered on the second ring.
“Hello, my love,” he said casually.

That word, love felt like a knife.
“Who is Samatha?” Bwalya asked, her voice shaking but firm.

Silence.
A long… heavy silence.
Then he sighed.
“It’s not what you think.”

But deep down, she already knew.
“Then explain,” she said.

He hesitated before finally speaking.
“I didn’t plan for it to happen… I was lonely… things just changed…”

Each word broke her a little more.

“Nineteen years, Tony,” she whispered. “We built everything together. We prayed together. How do you just… replace that?”

“I never replaced you,” he said quickly.
But his actions had already spoken louder than his words.

That call lasted hours but nothing he said could fix what had already been broken.
For the first time in her life…
Bwalya realized love alone was not enough.

CHAPTER 3:

THE CALL THAT BROKE HER

It was an ordinary afternoon.
Bwalya was folding laundry while Thandiwe and Thenjiwe played nearby and Tinashe and Tatenda worked on their homework. The house was quiet, peaceful, the kind of normal she had grown used to.

Then her phone rang.

An unknown number.
She hesitated for a moment before answering.

“Hello?”

There was a pause. Then a woman’s voice, calm, steady, unfamiliar.

“Are you Bwalya?"

“Yes… who is this?”
Another pause. Longer this time.

“My name is Samatha,” the woman said. “I’m calling about Tony.”

Bwalya’s heart skipped.
"What about him?”

The words that followed shattered her world in an instant.

“I’m his wife.”

Silence filled the room, but inside Bwalya, everything was screaming.
Her hands trembled. Her breath caught. She thought she had misheard.

“I think you’re mistaken,” she whispered, her voice barely holding together.

“I’m not,” Samantha replied gently, but firmly. “We’ve been together for years here in the UK. I didn’t know about you at first… but now I do. And you deserve to know the truth.”

The phone slipped slightly in Bwalya’s hand.
Nineteen years.
Nineteen years of love, prayer, sacrifice… and now this?

Her mind raced through memories, every call, every excuse, every moment she chose to trust.

Tears streamed silently down her face as her world, once so certain, collapsed beneath her.
In that moment, she understood something she had never imagined:

Sometimes, the deepest pain doesn’t come from strangers…
It comes from the one you built your life with.
That night, as her children slept peacefully, unaware of the storm, Bwalya knelt alone.
Not beside her husband this time.
Alone.
“God…” she whispered through tears, “what now?”
And though her heart was broken, one truth remained:
Her story was not over.!!

CHAPTER 2

DISTANCE AND SILENCE

Years passed, and life shifted in ways neither of them had expected.
Tony received an opportunity, one that felt like a blessing at the time. A job in the United Kingdom as a medical doctor. It was everything they had prayed for: growth, provision, and a better future for their children.

“I’ll go first,” Tony had said gently, holding Chisomo’s hands. “Once I’m settled, I’ll bring you and the kids.”

Bwalya nodded, though her heart felt heavy. Still, she trusted him. More than that she trusted God.

At first, everything seemed perfect.
Money came regularly. The children lacked nothing. School fees were paid on time, groceries stocked, and even small luxuries found their way into their home.

Tony called often, morning prayers over the phone, quick check-ins, laughter that still felt familiar.
But slowly… things began to change.
The calls became shorter.

Then fewer.

Excuses replaced conversations.
“I’m busy at the hospital.”
“I’ll call you later.”
“I’m just tired.”

Bwalya tried to silence the unease growing inside her. She prayed harder, fasted longer, convinced that distance not betrayal was the problem.

“Marriage is not easy,” she would tell herself. “This is just a season.”

But deep within her spirit, something felt… off.
Still, she chose faith over fear.

Until the day everything changed.

CHAPTER 1.

A PROMISE BEFORE GOD

The church bells rang softly that morning, echoing through the quiet streets as sunlight streamed through stained glass windows. At just 19, Bwalya stood at the altar, her heart trembling , not with fear, but with overwhelming happiness

She looked across at Tony, the man she had prayed with, fasted with, and dreamed with.

Their love had been rooted in faith from the very beginning. They met in church. Two young souls drawn together by worship, service, and a shared desire to build a life centered on God.

“Love is patient, love is kind…” the pastor’s voice echoed gently as they held hands, promising forever before God and man.

Life after marriage felt like a continuation of a beautiful prayer. They woke up early for devotion, kneeling side by side, whispering their hopes into heaven. Sundays were sacred, matching outfits, shared Bibles and snacks at nearby restaurants.

Two years into their marriage, their sons, Tinashe and Tatenda were born, quiet observant children with their father’s eyes. Two years later came their daughters, Thandiwe and Thenjiwe, full of laughter and light, just like their mother.

Their home was filled with joy, prayer, and the kind of love that felt unbreakable.
Bwalya believed she was living the life God had perfectly written for her.
She had no idea that some stories, even blessed ones, still face storms.......

A little girl felt calm as she put on the Christmas dress her mum had bought her. She remembered the happy times they shared picking out the dress and cooking together—rice, chicken, salad and pudding. On Christmas day she showed the dress to the other kids while waiting for her mum’s special meal. Music played on the veranda, and the warm memories gave her a gentle peace.

Poem on inner peace!

A little girl, with a heart so bright,
Searched for peace, through day and night.
She looked in all the wrong places,
But found only shadows, empty spaces.

Then she turned to God, with a humble heart,
And found the calm, that she'd been searching for from the start.
In His arms, she found a peaceful nest,
A refuge from the storms, where love finds rest.

In His presence, she hears His voice,
Whispering truths, that bring her choice,
To trust and rest, to let go and be,
A child of God, wild and free.
