UCZ SYNOD BISHOP ENGAGES SENIOR CHIEF IMWIKO, PRAISES PEACE, LEADERSHIP AND DEVELOPMENT

The United Church of Zambia Synod Bishop, Rev. Bishop Festus Chulu, has reaffirmed the Church’s commitment to promoting peace, leadership, and community development following a courtesy visit to Senior Chief Anang’anga Imwiko in Mwandi.

During the engagement, Senior Chief Imwiko commended the UCZ for its continued contribution to social development within his chiefdom, particularly through the provision of essential services such as schools, hospitals, and other community-driven initiatives.
The traditional leader further acknowledged the Church’s role in fostering peace and maintaining constructive relations within the country, noting that the UCZ has consistently demonstrated responsible leadership.

“Throughout my lifetime, I have never witnessed the United Church of Zambia taking an antagonistic position toward the government,” he said, describing the Church’s approach as one that contributes to national unity and stability.

Meanwhile, speaking at the same event, Rev. Bishop Chulu emphasized the importance of leadership grounded in faith, stating that all authority ultimately comes from God.
He described traditional leaders as a blessing to society, noting that chiefs are divinely entrusted with responsibility and guidance over their people.
Quoting Proverbs 21:1, the Synod Bishop underscored the role of divine direction in leadership.
“The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, and He directs it like a watercourse wherever He pleases,” he said, adding that the scripture reflects how God guides leaders in their decisions and responsibilities.
The visit highlighted the longstanding relationship between the Church and traditional leadership, with both parties reaffirming their shared commitment to peace, service delivery, and sustainable community development.

“Carry your integrity into every space you enter,” the UCZ General Secretary urged as graduates were called to uphold character and purpose in a changing world.

The United Church of Zambia University on 15th May 2026 held its 72nd Graduation Ceremony at its grounds in Kitwe, with a total of 165 graduates conferred with various qualifications across multiple disciplines.

Speaking at the ceremony, UCZ General Secretary Rev. “SEIZE THE OPPORTUNITY” — UCZ GENERAL SECRETARY CALLS FOR PURPOSEFUL LIVING

The United Church of Zambia Chamba Valley Congregation in Lusaka on 10th May 2026 held a special Sunday service marked by Holy Communion and Baptism, with the UCZ General Secretary, Rev. Dr. Chipasha Musaba, delivering the sermon.

The service, presided over by the Minister-in-Charge, Rev. Brig. Gen. Dr. Matifeyo, drew congregants into a time of spiritual renewal, reflection, and commitment as members partook in the sacred ordinances.

Preaching on the topic “Seizing an Opportunity to Participate in God’s Mission,” drawn from 1 Chronicles 28:1–7, Rev. Dr. Musaba challenged the congregation to recognize God’s hand at work in their lives and align themselves with His purpose.
“I challenge the congregation, our starting point is where David started from—look at where you are. Begin to realize that there is a mighty hand of God driving you towards God’s purposes. It is not about you, but about what God wants,” he said.

He emphasized that understanding one’s situation through the lens of God’s involvement is key to spiritual growth.
“Recognizing the hand of God in our situation is the beginning of the whole journey. David took time to reflect and pray about all the issues that were happening in his kingdom and recognized that all that was happening was because of God’s hand,” Rev. Dr. Musaba said.
He further noted that David viewed his life not as a personal achievement but as a testimony of God’s faithfulness, urging believers to adopt a similar perspective.

“God has brought you here for a purpose. Seize the opportunity while you still have time,” he concluded.
