Why We Must Pray in the Holy Ghost

Jude 1:20 KJVS - 0 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,

Just by going through most of the epistles, you will notice that 'pray in the Spirit' is a much emphasized instruction

Ephesians 6:18 KJVS - 18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit.......

Jude 1:20 KJVS - ..........building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost...

Jude says that, the believer that prays in the Holy Ghost builds himself up on his most Holy faith.

Paul also writes similarly in

1 Corinthians 14:4 KJVS - 4 He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself

The word edify ( Grk: oikodomeō) used for building, repiaring, establishing, restoring and emboldening.

It was also used as follows

Colossians 2:7 KJVS - 7 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

Which will imply to anchor strong, yo firmly establish and can figuratively mean to charge up to full strength

So Jude says a man that prays in the Holy Ghost builds himself up on his Holy faith

What does this imply?

Remember John says

1 John 5:4 KJVS - 4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

Faith is our victory which overcomes the world!

What this means is that as we pray in the Holy Ghost we are setting ourselves for victory!

Paul also said

Ephesians 6:18 KJVS - 18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit

Now read in its proper context, you notice he started by saying

Ephesians 6:10-11 KJVS - 10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11 Put on the whole armour of God.....

Implying that is how we are strong in the Lord and the power of his might

He also says its how we communicate with God

1 Corinthians 14:2 KJVS - 2 For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God.......

Let me close by sharing an encounter Bro Hagin had in 1956

He says, "...I was awakened suddenly in the night. It was as if someone laid his hand on me. I sat bolt upright in bed, my heart beating rapidly.

"Lord," I cried, "what is the matter? I know something is wrong somewhere. Holy Spirit in me, You know everything. You are everywhere as well as within me. Whatever this is, You give me utterance."

I prayed in tongues for an hour and then began to laugh and sing in tongues. (When praying this way, always continue praying until you have a note of praise. Then you will know that whatever it is you are praying about, is settled.) I knew what I had been praying for had come to pass. I had the answer, so I went back to sleep.

I dreamed that I saw my youngest brother become extremely ill in Louisiana. I saw an ambulance with lights flashing take him to the hospital. In the dream, I stood in the corridor outside his hospital room door. The door was shut.

Then the doctor came out that door, pulled it shut behind him, shook my hand and said, "He is dead."
"No, doctor, he is not dead," I replied. "What do you mean, he is not dead?"

"The Lord told me he would live and not die."
At that the doctor became angry and said, "Come with me and I will show you that he is dead. I have pronounced too many people dead not to know when someone is dead." He took me by the arm and led me into my brother's room. He walked over to the bed and je**ed the sheet back. When he did, my brother's eyes opened.

The doctor saw that he was breathing. He began to stutter, "You knew something I didn't know. He is alive, isn't he?" In the dream I saw my brother rise up from the bed, well. That was what I had been praying about.

Three months later we came home to Texas. My brother came by to see me and said, "I nearly died while you were gone." I told him that I knew he'd had an attack during the night while staying in a motel in Louisiana, and had been rushed to the hospital. He thought someone had told me about it, but they had not. I told him about my burden of prayer followed by the dream. "That's exactly how it happened! They told me that for about 40 minutes at the hospital the doctor thought I was gone."

Praying in the spirit provides a way for things to be prayed for that we wouldn't know anything about in the natural. The Holy Ghost, however, knows everything.

So go ahead and pray in the Holy Ghost and see the change

I call you blessed

God's Word Living in His Plan Part 2

Deuteronomy 8:1 KJV - All the commandments which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do, that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers.

The word of God, gives us His intent for us and what we should be like.

He shows us by the word who we are and where we should be.

Observe He says "....All the commandments which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do, that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers."

In essence we live or are sustained by His word

Deuteronomy 8:3 KJV -......man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.

This is why Job says

Job 23:12 KJV - 12 Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.

From Jobs description of the word, we note that he sets the word of God high above, he says his necessary food, meaning the word is more important than the feed needed for him to live.

This in essence shows, that the word is far essential to him, to do without.

Why is this so?

We can learn something from Joshua

Joshua 1:8 KJV - 8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

The word 'way' from hbrw derek used for a course of life or a journey

While the word 'prosperous' is from the hbrw tsâlach tsâlêach used for making progress, succeed or to be profitable

This shows that his course was only guaranteed in him staying in the word.

The word is how our pursuit is guaranteed success

Psalm 119:104-105 KJVS - 104 Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way.105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

The word of God makes clear and illuminates our path or course, we know what to do and how.

Observe he says it gives understanding (hbrw bene) used for discernment or insight

Psalm 119:130 KJVS - 130 The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.

Look at what Proverbs says about the word

Proverbs 4:18-27 KJVS - 18 But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day. 19 The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble. 20 My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. 21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. 22 For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.

Observe verse 22

The word health(hbrw marpê) used for cure or remedy to all your flesh

Meaning the word will preserve and remedy the flesh

See

Psalm 119:133-134 KJVS - 133 Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me. 134 Deliver me from the oppression of man: so will I keep thy precepts.

So what are we to do?

Delight in the word and be full of it, that it will overflow from your heart

Proverbs 4:23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. 24 Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee. 25 Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee. 26 Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established. 27 Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.

The word should be on the believer's lips, remember in Joshua 1, it should not depart from your mouth, which means it should be our daily meditation.

Jesus was ever affirming the word, He spoke of himself in light of the word.

You are what the word says you are and you will fulfill the word of God for your life!

I call you blessed

God's Word Living in His Plan Part 1

Deuteronomy 8:1 KJV - All the commandments which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do, that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers.

The word of God, gives us His intent for us and what we should be like.

He shows us by the word who we are and where we should be.

Observe He says "....All the commandments which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do, that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers."

Now remember that the primary audience is Israel to whom God had promised to Abraham in Genesis 12

Genesis 12:7 KJV - 7 And the LORD appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the LORD, who appeared unto him.

After this God, appeared to Abraham and his generations about multiplying them and setting them in thier land.

The Psalmist reiterated this fact

Psalm 105:8-11 KJV - 8 He hath remembered his covenant for ever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations. 9 Which covenant he made with Abraham, and his oath unto Isaac;
10 And confirmed the same unto Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant: 11 Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance:

And we see how that God, faithfully saw His word through from the Psalmists account in Psalm 105

Now see something in Dueteronomy 8

He uses two key words we must not lose sight of;

Observe (Hbrw:shàmar) which implies to watch over inorder not to lose or to take heed to

Live (Hbrw:chàyàh) used for to sustain life, continue living, have life or remain alive

This therefore implies taking heed to God's word is how the man who is a recipient of God's promise will remain alive or continue to live.

He emphasizes this in the post text, as we will see in verses 2 and 3, with a bold conclusion in verse 3b

Deuteronomy 8:3 KJV -......man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.

The word of God is therefore how we live and follow through God's plan

Jesus perfectly demonstrates this

Matthew 4:3-4 KJV
And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. [4] But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

The context of this account is that He is set himself oncourse to fulfill God's plan and the devil comes to distract him.

He stays with what the word of Gid says and that becomes the blue print of His life

We see the Psalmist, speak to this also

Psalm 40:7-8 KJV
Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me, [8] I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.

The writer of Hebrews, quotes from this account when explaining the life of the Christ and how he fulfills God's will on earth.

Hebrews 10:7,9 KJV - 7 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God..........9 Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.

Likewise staying in the word is how we can walk and fulfill God's plan

James now teaches from the scriptures

James 1:21-25 KJV - receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. 22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. 23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: 24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

He says the word is our mirror and it reflects back to us, who we are and what we really should be.

He then tells us to do the word and practice it, inorder for us not to walk besides ourselves.

Stay in God's word, and stay in God's plan for your life.

I call you blessed

He will do it again

Our faith is often a function of what we have heard

In simple terms, our faith is or is not, based on historical reference

For example, a person will operate in fear if a negative narrative is given or in faith if a positive narrative or outcome is given of a similar scenario

For instance, you want to seek help on a matter from an individual, and you are told by someone who previously sought similar help from the same person, and their outcome was not so good. That account Is likely going to inform your perception and expectation.

You are likely to believe your outcome will be the same!

So faith is a function of past reference

Look at Something in Mark

Mark 5:2-5 KJVS
And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, [3] Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains: [4] Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him. [5] And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones.

Jesus meets a man possessed with a demon and late, we see Jesus cast it

Mark 5:8 KJVS
For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit.

Having cast out the devil, news went out of what Jesus had done, and the people knowing the previous case of the man

Mark 5:15-16, 19-20 KJVS
And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid. [16] And they that saw it told them how it befell to him that was possessed with the devil, and also concerning the swine........ [19] Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee. [20] And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel.

Pay attention to the last part of verse 20
.......began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel.

So, the word went out

Now observe what that did, we see Jiarus seeking Jesus' intervention in his daughter's matter based on what he had heard about Jesus in the earlier verses

Mark 5:21-23 KJVS
And when Jesus was passed over again by ship unto the other side, much people gathered unto him: and he was nigh unto the sea. [22] And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet, [23] And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live.

That is why Jesus would later tell him to only believe and not fear

What did he believe? That his daughter will be well

What was the basis? The seemingly hopeless situation of the man possessed with a demon, yet when Jesus intervened, the man was made whole and well

Why would he be in fear? The contrary news he had just received.

He was likely going to distracted by fear because as they were going with Jesus, he received negative news about his daughter

Now, look at what Mark said in verse 15 and 16
...see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid. [16] And they that saw it told them how it befell to him that was possessed with the devil, and also concerning the swine

This is what caused Jairus to believe Jesus would make his daughter well.

He heard and possibly saw

Similarly, the woman with the issue of blood

Mark 5:25, 27-29 KJVS
And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,....... [27] When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment. [28] For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole. [29] And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.

Observe in verse 27. She had HEARD of Jesus

That is exactly what convinced her. She would be made whole, and she was, glory to God!

And so your matter is not hopeless! We have enough historical reference to know HE WILL DO IT AGAIN!

Look at Luke's account of Jesus and how men sort Him based on what they heard

Luke 5:15 KJVS
But so much the more went there a fame abroad of him: and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities.

Similarly, in Matthew

Matthew 4:23-24 KJVS
And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people. [24] And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them.

So we see men build faith because there is a reference of what He had done!

We can trust in His faithfulness!

Now, I want you to remember something here, that faith always receives

That is why Jesus tells Jiarus, FEAR NOT ONLY BELIEVE!

You can trust he will do

The days ahead are better days

Miracles abound and we receive in faith

You can believe he will do it for your case just as he has done before for many others!

It reminds me of a meeting I was teaching in around 2009 at Chalo Trust School.

As I was teaching, there was a boy who had been walking on cratches, and I was stirred to tell to walk forward without them, and he so did!

The moment he walked forward, the whole congregation was stirred in faith, and we experienced a move of God in the meeting. The Spirit beautifully moved among us.

Their faith was stirred as they saw what God had done in the boy's life. I have since, seen this happen often in meetings.

God will certainly work in power, in your own case

I hope this helps your faith

I call you blessed!

Clarity in God’s Leading: Learning to Listen to His Voice
God’s leading is never the problem. He is always speaking to His children.
The real question is: Are we listening?
📖 Ephesians 1:13 — “In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise.”
🗣️ Competing Voices
Reasoning = the voice of the soul
Feelings = the voice of the body
Inward witness = the voice of the Spirit
Many have made wrong choices in marriage, business, and life by following feelings, fear, or logic. But God speaks in our spirit.
“It’s better to be a little bit slower than God than to be faster than God.” – Kenneth Hagin
🕊️ Christ Our Wisdom
📖 1 Corinthians 1:30 “Christ is made unto us the wisdom of God.” That means we don’t lack wisdom.
In Christ, we have:
Insight; to know things today
Foresight; to see things tomorrow
🙌 Confess it:
“I don’t lack wisdom. I have insight and foresight. I know what to do.”
🛡️ Faith in Confusion
Faith begins where the will of God is known. When doubt comes, lift the shield of faith and declare:
“I know I’m led by the Spirit.”
“I know what to do.”
As you speak, you quieten the voice of the flesh, doubt, and unbelief.
📖 Anchored in the Word
2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is God‑breathed.
2 Peter 1:20 Prophecy came by the Holy Spirit.
The Spirit in you inspired the Scriptures. Spend more time with the Word, and His leading will become clearer.
🔦 The Inward Witness
Yes, God may use visions, dreams, or prophecy (Acts 9, Acts 10, Acts 14, Acts 20). But the primary way He leads is through the inward witness.
Illustration: In a lit room, you clearly see the blue Bible on your desk. In darkness, you guess. The Spirit is the light. He makes things clear.
Think of it like a scanner: expose your decision to your spirit, and it will detect whether it aligns with God’s will.
⚠️ A Word of Caution
📖 Psalm 127:1 “Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it.”
Many believers have rushed into marriages, careers, or relocating without listening to the Spirit, only to regret later. It’s not wrong to travel or plan, but don’t take major life decisions without exposing them to your spirit.
Brother Hagin said: “God is talking to you. Are you listening?”
🔑 Keys to Clarity
1️⃣ Put the Word first place; Spend time with Scripture. Don’t rush decisions when the road isn’t clear. 2️⃣ Meditate on the Word; Fill your mind with it. Let it purify your thoughts before the day begins. 3️⃣ Confess the Word; In confusion, declare: “I’m not confused. I know the voice of the Spirit. I follow His leading.”
Faith confession affirms the realities of the Word. As you keep saying it, faith calls the things that be not as though they were.
✨ Stay with His Plan
Fred Price said: “God will never bless your plans. He has His own plans, and they are blessed already.”
Stop trying to plan for God. Find His plan for your ministry, business, marriage, and home—and walk in it.
Declare daily:
“I know the voice of the Good Shepherd.”
“I’m led by the Spirit of God.”
“I know what to do.”
🙏 Finally
Stay with His plan, it is already blessed. Don’t let culture, family, or personal vows dictate your choices. Listen to God’s voice above all.
I call you blessed.
