Why Holy Ghost Meeting?

One may be wondering, why have a Holy Ghost Meeting? I mean it could be any meeting.

Kenneth E. Hagin is known to have said that the things of the spirit will be lost to a generation except they are taught.

We can easily see why in the scriptures

Firstly, it is Important to note that the Scriptures are emphatic on the Supernatural world and this is the reason why the study of the Spirit and the things of the Spirit is a major theme of the Bible.

It is particularly important to also note that the first Book of the bible (Genesis) opens up with the theme of “the Spirit of God” which also has other related biblical concepts.

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. Vs 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

Genesis opens up with the theme of chaos, disorder and the work of the Spirit (which is to re-order; set things in order; bring into proper function) which was clearly highlighted in Genesis 1:1-31, 2:1-3.

This introduces us to God’s intention and plan to work with his creatures, of which (Man) has a major role. His intention is to partner with, dwell in, tabernacle in and with; to work in and with Man to carry out his work in the earth.

We can also easily see this in Jesus' words about the Spirit among us, John 14, John 16 and Luke 24:47 for instance. We also see in Acts 1 that Luke reiterates it. In Acts 2, we seeing the Spirit poured out and in most of the book of Acts we see the work and the gifts of the Spirit.

In the epistles, Paul will now write severally write on the Spirit and an entire 3 chapters on the gifts of the Spirit.

1st Corinthians 12:1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.

The word "ignorant" is not to know or not to understand

This is why we must have a Holy Ghost Meetings, where the things of the Spirit are taught and the Spirit is given free course and believers leave through the door of rejoicing.

This firmly places the believer right in God's plan, as this is by His Spirit.

Paul, in later verses and chapter, emphasizes a strong desire for the gifts of the Spirit

1st Corinthians 12:31 But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way

1st Corinthians 14:1 Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy… Vs 39 Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.

The word covet is to a having a burning passion to get or zealously persuit.

Being in such meetings is one of the ways you covet or express strong desire.

1 Corinthians 14:26 KJVS - 6 How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.

When we gather together, we can expect gifts in operation and the gifts are there to build us up...

We can expect to wotk in them and to receive of the gifts...

We expect and anticipate

Why You Must be in the Holy Ghost Meeting

God is in the gathering of believers

One of the surest way of encountering and fellowshiping with God is in meetings. Where a meeting is called in His name, you are sure to have him in our midst.

Matthew 18:20 KJVS - 20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

Its easy to see this in a number of accounts where believers gathered and God was graciously in thier midst.

Let's look at a few

On the day of pentecost, as they were gathered and prayed.

Acts 2:1-4 KJVS - And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. 3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

We see activities of the Spirit, they heard, the saw and spoke as they were filled with the Holy Ghost.

Again in Acts 13, they gathered and ministered unto the Lord.

Acts 13:1-2 KJVS - Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.2 As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.

Gifts of the Spirit were at work, the Spirit spoke and the believers were blessed and purpose was reaffirmed.

Observe what Luke says '....the Holy Ghost said, Separate me...'

So we are sure to hear him speak, Glory to God!

We also see that as the word is taught, God's power is available to all present;

Luke 5:17 KJVS - And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judæa, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them.

When God's power is available, the miraculous can happen;

Luke 5:18,25 KJVS - 18 And, behold, men brought in a bed a man which was taken with a palsy: and they sought means to bring him in, and to lay him before him...........25 And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and departed to his own house, glorifying God.

God appear's in power and glory as we meet...

With the gifts of the Spirit in operation, we're sure to be built up, bettered and blessed. Look here;

1 Corinthians 12:7 KJVS - 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.⁠

As words are spoken, prophecies and much more by the Spirit, the believer is sure to be edified

1 Corinthians 14:26 KJVS - 26 How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.

With the Spirit in us and among us, we are in God's plan and that is exactly what we see. Jesus in his parting shots in the gospel spoke of the Spirit given to man and him being among men.

Mark 16:20 KJVS - 20 And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen!

This summarizes what we see in the book of Acts;

Having recieved the Spirit, they went forth and walked right in God's purpose and plan.

This and yet much more do we receive in such meetings.

A Holy Ghost Meeting

There are different kinds of meetings such as teaching meetings where the word is taught line upon line, precept upon precept, an evangelistic meeting where the thrust is to reach the lost, a healing meeting to minister to the sick, a worship meeting or a prayer meeting and a Holy Ghost meeting, which is however a different kind of flow where the Holy Ghost is given room and we follow the direction of the Holy Ghost. Every church needs these different kinds of meetings to be all God wants them to be.

We can see this in scripture

2 Chronicles 5:13-14 KJVS - 13 It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of musick, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the LORD;14 So that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of God.

Yes we did

Bro. Kenneth E. Hagin of blessed memory said; “…there is a move of the Spirit that would be lost to this generation except they are led into it …"

What do we expect?

The word will be taught, line upon line and precept upon precept.

The Holy Ghost will lead and guide

He will be in demonstration and manifestation.

The needs of the people will be met and we will be full of joy!

So expect to be blessed, expect your needs to be met and expect to be full of joy.
