NOT JUST AN ADDITION TO YOUR RESUME

The disciples had a reputation of being with Christ. Their actions and ways of life preceded the justification people had about their relation with Jesus. When Peter denied Him during the arrest, he was still pointed out as being with Jesus. Matthew 26:71 - *Later, out by the gate, another servant girl noticed him and said to those standing around, "This man was with Jesus of Nazareth." Later in Acts, they were called Christians because they looked and behaved like Christ. Acts 11:26 "...It was there at Antioch that the believers were first called Christians."

There was no tag or title description by anyone in the early church of loving God. No one stated "lover of Jesus" as an addition to their resume. Men loved Jesus and it was shown in their actions. The condition Christ gave as a proof of your love for Him is to do what He says. John 14:15 - "If you love me, obey my commandments." Not just to add it to your resume. Saying "lover of Jesus or I love God" as a way of completing a description about yourself. It doesn't override the fact that you don't when you live in continual disobedience.

Being a Jesus lover should not just be a name tag. It should not just be an addition to one of your titles. It should not just be part of your resume. Let your actions support the claim. Apostle Paul never bragged on how much He loved the Lord. Rather emphasized on how much Jesus loved him. His way of life and sacrifices made through the obedience of the commands of Christ were clear proof of how much he loved Jesus. People see and can tell, no need to force an idea into any man. Let loving Jesus not just be an addition to our resume, rather a testimony that men have of us.
God loves you...

YOU DON'T STOP GROWING

No form of Spiritual manifestation or experiences should deter the believer's desire to grow in the knowledge of Christ.
Growth in the knowledge of Christ is what we've been called into. John 17:3 - "And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent". You don't outdo the need for growth because of the demonstrations of Spiritual gifts. You don't stop growing in the knowledge of Christ for any reason.

Growth in the knowledge of Christ is God's desire towards you. 1 Timothy 2:4 - "who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth". There's no mark to reach and stop, it is a life the believer has been called into. The word of God continues to unfold itself, revealing the precise and concise revelation of Christ in a progressive manner. There's always more to learn about Christ. As Apostle Paul even in his advanced age in ministry said; Philippians 3:10 - "that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death."

No form of Spiritual activities or exercises should replace the need for growth in the knowledge of Christ. Infact, all Spiritual activities should have an end goal of growth in the knowledge of Christ. You don't stop growing, don't stop studying. You don't stop growing, don't stop learning. The revealed knowledge has no reaching point. We continue to grow in the knowledge of Christ till we exit this earth. Don't stop growing dear believer.
God loves you.
Jesus remains glorified...

BE OF GOOD REPUTATION ACCORDING TO GOD'S STANDARD

A reputation is what someone is known for. It's sort of a "name" some have tried to build for themselves. There is a good and bad reputation. The believer was even instructed to be of good reputation. 1 Timothy 3:7 - "He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil's trap". However this reputation is within the confines of biblical standards.
Preservation of worldly reputation will restrict you to serve God effectively.
The day you became born again was the day you signed an official agreement to lose whatever worldly reputation you carry.

Worldly reputations are insignificant compared to what you've received in Christ. Apostle Paul puts it this way. Philippians 3:7-8 - "I once thought all these things were so very important, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done Vs.8 - Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the priceless gain of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I may have Christ". Christianity requires service to God, interacting with His people, meeting their needs etc. It becomes an unachievable task when a man tries to uphold some worldly reputation that puts a barrier between you and people.

Some reputation teaches you to develop pride and ego. Some reputation teaches you to insincerity. There are Christians that care about their worldly reputation compared to their effectiveness in the Christendom. Whatever worldly reputation you carry, you must be ready to lose it for Christ. You must be willing to let go so you serve God effectively. Be willing to get a bad name for speaking the truth about Christ. Be willing to be provoked in your service to God. Men will laugh, make mockery of you, say bad things about you, will not hail you or applaud you. The reputation of looking good and perfect in the eyes of unbelievers because you're not doing anything Christ related is one you should work hard to lose. Be of good reputation according to God's standard.
God loves you.

DO CHRISTIANS SIN?
____________________

Yes, Christians (including me) do sin. While Christians are called to live according to God's standards and avoid sin, they are not perfect and still struggle with sinful tendencies because they live in a fallen world and have human weaknesses. However, there are key teachings in Christianity about sin and the believer's relationship to it:

1. Sin Nature: Christians believe that all people, including believers, are born with a sinful nature (Romans 3:23), which means that no one is naturally perfect or free from sin.

2. Forgiveness through Christ: Christians believe that through Jesus Christ’s sacrifice, their sins are forgiven (1 John 1:9). When they repent and ask for forgiveness, God offers grace and pardon.

3. Ongoing Struggle: Even after becoming Christians, believers experience a continuous struggle against sin (Romans 7:15-25). This is often referred to as the battle between the flesh" (the sinful nature) and the "spirit" (the new nature in Christ).

4. Growth in Holiness: The Christian life is a process of sanctification, where believers grow more like Christ and overcome sinful patterns through the power of the Holy Spirit. Though they still sin, they seek to repent, grow, and avoid willful sin (Galatians 5:16-17).

5. Grace and Accountability: Christians rely on God's grace and are accountable to live a life that reflects their faith. They are called to confess their sins and seek to live in accordance with God's will (1 John 1:8-10).

In summary, while Christians sin, they are continually being transformed by God’s grace and are called to strive for a life that honors God, relying on His forgiveness and strength to overcome sin.

WITHHOLDING TRUTH IS NOT LOVE

Lying to escape offending someone is now a norm and has wrongly been assumed to be an act of love. As long as withholding truth doesn't ignite conflict with a friend, truth can be preserved. This was never a practice by Jesus or the Apostles of old. The level of robustness displayed by Christ with the truth could have been misinterpreted as not walking in love in our present era. Sometimes we are too quick to conclude on what love is and what it's not just because truth has exposed a lie. God is the standard of love and the characteristics of this love were well defined in scriptures of which withholding truth is not part of it.

Imagine Jesus making clear the fate of the Pharisees as they refused to believe in Him. John 8:24 - "That is why I said that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am who I say I am, you will die in your sins." Does that mean he never loved them? Should he have said it in a more mild way because He is love? There are numerous ways to salvage a lie to be believed as the truth, but there's no better way to say the truth. As painful, hurtful and harsh as it may sound, it should be said. Apostle Paul rebuked Peter over a wrong practice. You can't use that to claim Apostle Paul never loved Peter. Galatians 2:11 - "But when Peter came to Antioch, I had to oppose him publicly, speaking strongly against what he was doing, for it was very wrong."

Whether it will offend others, make them leave, cause them to hate you, truth should not be withheld. The truth of the gospel and the fate of those that refuse to believe should not be sugar quoted to escape offence. When a man does not believe, damnation awaits. Jesus did not promise us friendship with everyone. He said, Matthew 10:34-35 - "Don't imagine that I came to bring peace to the earth! No, I came to bring a sword. Vs.35 - I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law." Stop prioritising your friendship over the truth, it's not love. Preach the truth in season and out of season, for withholding the truth is not love in any way.
God loves you.

BE A GOOD DISCIPLE...

A disciple is not just any follower, he's a follower that's willing and ready to learn(from the Greek word (mathētēs). Christ was specific in His instruction after His resurrection. Matthew 28:19 - "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit" The word "disciple" in this verse is a noun, which depict an identity. So the verse can as well be interpreted as "go into the world and make people that will learn (learners/pupils/students)." Learn what?

John 17:3 - "And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent." A man that's a carrier of eternal life is a disciple of Jesus Christ. He's a disciple not because he attends discipleship classes or Bible studies. He is a disciple because he has been called into that place of learning about God and His son Jesus Christ. So we have been called to raise men that will learn about Jesus Christ. The believer does not stop being a disciple of Christ. Meaning, he does not stop learning about who Jesus is.

You don't stop being a disciple of Christ because discipleship class ends. You continue to learn about Christ till you exit this earth. That is what it means to be a good disciple of Christ. You have been called into discipleship, a place of learning and growing in the knowledge of God. The church has been called to raise men that will learn about God, not "men of God" followers or church attenders. Be a good disciple, learn about Jesus and His finished work. Yield to teachings, submit to instructions and grow thereby. God loves you.

NOT PROTESTANTS!!

I am a Baptist and Baptists are not Protestants. Why? Because Protestants came out from Catholics but there were Baptists BEFORE there was ever a Catholic church.

"Catholicism" (Catholic means "universal") started with a Roman emperor named Constantine in A.D. 324 when he declared Christianity the official state religion of Rome.

However, Baptists existed since the time of Christ.

Proof?

• Matthew 3:1. The name "Baptist" came from God as John was called "the Baptist" before he ever baptized anyone! So he wasn't called "the Baptist" because he baptized people. People didn't call him that. God called him that.
• Matthew 3:13-17. Jesus Himself had Baptist's baptism.
• Luke 6:13-16 and Acts 1:21-22. The Apostles with whom Jesus started His church had Baptist baptism.

Now, I don't think Baptist is "better" than anyone. I just know that Baptist is more "Biblical" than anyone! The "label" Baptist right away declares salvation by grace, baptism by immersion and for believers only, final authority of the Scriptures etc.
So, who are Protestants? Protestants are former Catholics who "protested" and came out of Catholicism but never really severed themselves completely from Catholic's doctrines or practices.

Below are some of the more known Protestants and the year they were started and who started them:

1530 - Lutherans started by Martin Luther of Germany. (Not Jesus)
1531 - Anglican (Church of England) started by King Henry VIII. (Not Jesus)
1541 - Presbyterians started by John Calvin. (Not Jesus)
1602 - Congregational church started by John Smythe. (Not Jesus)
1785 - Methodists started by John Wesley. (Not Jesus)
1812 - Church of Christ started by Thomas Campbell. (Definitely, not Jesus!)

To name just a few . . . . .

Only Baptists can trace our beginning back to Jesus Christ.

So, my friend, Baptists aren't Protestants!
