Oasis Of Salvation Christian Assembly OSCA Matthew 22:14 (KJV) For many are called, but few are chosen.

Psalms 23:2 (KJV) He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

VERSE
2 Chronicles 7:14 (KJV) If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

INSPIRATION
Part of being a Christian is humbling ourselves and realizing that without God, our lives truly mean nothing. We are to acknowledge that we have made a conscious choice to turn away from the bad deeds and sinful habits, and we have turned to the holy life God has presented before us.

PRAYER
Father, I humbly present myself as one who has chosen to turn away from their sinful ways. It is a choice I made when I chose to follow you and Lord, it is a choice I intend to abide in. Father, help me to walk in a way that is worthy of this calling. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

VERSE
2 Corinthians 10:3-5 (KJV) For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:
(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

INSPIRATION
As Christians, we need to remember that the battles we face are not physical. Every form of opposition be it in man or in circumstances, though it may come in the physical, is actually spiritual. Attacks will come in the form of people and strenuous situations but we cannot afford to not see everything as spiritual. God has equipped us and He covers us to ensure that the enemy will never overthrow us, no matter what.

PRAYER
Dear God, I am aware that, every day, the enemy tries to attack me through the words and actions of people and through stressful situations too. Father, in times where the fight may seem like too much, I ask that you help me stand firm on your word. May I never forget that I already have the victory. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

VERSE

Hebrews 12:5 (KJV) And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:

INSPIRATION

Even as an earthly father who loves his children will chastise (discipline) them if he truly loves them and wants what is best for them, so also is our Heavenly Father. He does not condemn us like a judge in a courtroom, for there is no condemnation to those in Christ. His punishments of us are not legal, but parental. They are not required by "the rules," but are done as needed to help us grow and learn his ways of holiness for our good and his glory.

PRAYER

Let me not resent your discipline, O Father, for I know that if you discipline me, it is only because you love me. Help me to want what you want for me, to desire the object of your discipline, which is to teach me your Word and lead me in the paths of righteousness for your name's sake. Amen.

(Verse)
My brethren, having faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, do not show favoritism. For if a man with a gold ring and fine clothes comes to your meeting, and a poor man in dirty clothes also comes, and you show respect to the one who wears the fine clothes, and say to him, “You sit here in a good place”, and say to the poor man, “You stand over there, or sit here by my footstool”, are you not showing partiality among yourselves, and becoming judges with evil thoughts?
James 2:1-4

(Inspiration)
God does not show favoritism or partiality. As believers in Christ we must follow Him in this (Rom 2:11; 1 Cor 12:13; Eph 6:9; Col 3:11, 25; 1 Tim 5:21; 1 Pet 1:17). It is a sad truth that this instruction is often ignored and disobeyed in churches. James (and God’s Spirit speaking through James) plainly tells us that favoritism comes from “evil thoughts” (v 4). In Christ we are to accept all men alike, and honor and respect all alike – Rom 12:10, 16. Looking down on fellow believers because they are poor, or uneducated, or poorly dressed, or from a different class or group or caste, or for any other reason, must have no place among Christ’s people.

(VERSE)
Hebrews 13:6 (KJV) So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

(INSPIRATION)
Yes, we can take comfort in knowing that God will forever be with us, His children. God’s promises to be with us through everything we face, will never run out; His promises will never expire. God has always proven His faithfulness and because of this we can be fully confident in and encouraged by Him. If you are going through any trials or tribulations, take heart, for God is with you.

(PRAYER)
Dear God, I take courage in knowing that you are always with me and you are for me. Lord, in times where people may try to oppose me, may you help me to stay focused on you and nothing else. For as long as you are with me, I know that I can never be shaken. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

(VERSE)
Ezekiel 38:23 (KJV) Thus will I magnify myself, and sanctify myself; and I will be known in the eyes of many nations, and they shall know that I am the LORD.

(INSPIRATION)
There will be trouble in this world. There is darkness that is prevalent. Have you sensed it? Have you noticed the culture changing to appease society rather than God? While it may seem like nations are turning through backs on the Lord, he will not be forgotten. The Lord will make himself known. While we do not know his ways, we have faith that he will show his greatness and holiness. For those who believe, we can cling to this promise. In the end, every knee will bow and every nation will worship the Lord.

(PRAYER)
Dear God, you rule over all the nations. When it seems like nations are turning away from you, we know that you will show your holiness. Your holiness will not be hidden. We can trust your promises that every nation will worship you and every knee will bow when your glory is revealed. I bow down to you, O Lord. May my life glorify your name and draw others to you. Use me to turn those in my community back to you, God. In Jesus’ name, amen.

((GOD'S PROTECTION))

(GOD DOES NOT SEND BAD THINGS INTO OUR LIVES)

(VERSE)
Numbers 21:8-9 (KJV) And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live.
And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.

(INSPIRATION)
The people had been freed from slavery in Egypt. God had protected them from being captured by Pharaoh’s army, he had sent them manna and fowl to eat, had given them fresh water and had allowed them to defeat the armies that came against them. They still complained against God and Moses and talked about what they had left behind in Egypt. It seems like their complaints had been heard, but the answer was not what they wanted. God sent seraph serpents that bit many of them and of those, many died. Now they begged Moses to go to God and ask for forgiveness and to relieve their suffering. The above is God’s response. We complain all the time. We know, now, that God does not send bad things into our lives, only good. However, we also know that when we have sinned, something dies inside of us. When we are ashamed, we tend to blame the other person. If we are caught in sin, we want revenge on the person who caught us. I probably have already mentioned the friend who for years carried so much anger for an ex-husband that she developed serious stomach ulcers. God doesn’t want us to suffer; he wants to heal us just as he healed the Israelites in the wilderness. He has sent his Son to bring us the healing we need. When Jesus was hung on the cross, there were those looking up at him who recognized who he was and were healed. We know their stories – the repentant thief and the centurion whose servant had been healed by Jesus. If we only look upon the cross of Jesus and witness the love poured out for us in his outstretched arms, we too will find healing.

(PRAYER)
Lord Jesus Christ, you willingly stretched out your arms in love for us as you offered your life so that we might live. May we look upon your love often so that we might allow your healing power to touch our hearts and keep us from sin. Amen

((TO RETURN TO GOD WITH A PRAYERFUL HEART))

(JUST BECAUSE WE'RE NOT BREAKING A STATED COMMANDMENT DOESN'T MEAN THAT WE'RE SINLESS)

(VERSE)
Hosea 14:1-2 (KJV) O Israel, return unto the LORD thy God; for thou hast fallen by thine iniquity.
Take with you words, and turn to the LORD: say unto him, Take away all iniquity, and receive us graciously: so will we render the calves of our lips.

(INSPIRATION)
Hosea has been chosen to bring God’s words to the northern Kingdom of Israel. Hosea is an interesting prophet who was married to an adulteress. In many ways his marriage symbolized the relationship between God and Israel. Hosea loved Gomer in spite of her lack of fidelity. God loves Israel in spite of her infidelity, to her turning to idols and her lack of justice. Just as Hosea never stops loving Gomer or abandoning her, God never abandons Israel. Hosea is begging the people to ask God for forgiveness, to return to him with their mouths open in praise of God as he would accept the sacrifice of bulls from their herds. As we know, his words went unheard and the northern territory fell to Assyria and the people were killed or dispersed into other nations. We are also being told that we need to repent of our sins and ask forgiveness. I know that I don’t always think of myself as a sinner. I live alone and do what I can to help my children and grandchildren. I pray and don’t lie, cheat or steal. So, do I feel that I am perfect? Of course not! God knows what thoughts I have that are not always kind! He knows the words I hold back, but that I harbor in my heart – and they are not always asking God to bless someone. I also can be guilty of sins of omission. I don’t always reach out to help when I could, or spend time with people who I know are alone and could use some company. Just because we’re not breaking a stated commandment doesn’t mean that we are sinless. My goal this Lent is to be a better person – the person God called me to be.

(PRAYER)
Lord, none of us is without sin. Please give me the grace I need to be the person you want me to be and do the work you created me to do. Amen
