KBC Children's Ministry

We are an outreach team under Kabwata Baptist Church that specialises in Christian ministry to Children (3-13yrs), both in and out of the church.

Last week Saturday, the 7th of December 2019, the KBC Children's Ministry successfully held an Inter-church Sunday School Bible Quiz, at Kabwata Baptist Church. The Bible Quiz saw Sunday School children 13 years and younger, from 3 different Baptist churches, contesting for first prize. This time around, the children contesting were from Crossway Baptist, Emmasdale Baptist and Kabwata Baptist Sunday Schools.

The set categories for the Bible Quiz were as follows;
1. Bible Verse Contest
2. Book Chapter & Verse
3. The Gospels
4. The Life of Moses
5. The Life of David
6. The Apostle Paul
7. The One-minute Dash

By the end of the Bible Quiz, the Emmasdale Sunday School team came out in first place, for the second time in a row. As though that were not enough, once again their team Captain, Grace Chiwala scooped the prize for most outstanding participant! Kabwata Baptist came in second place and Crossway in third. The children performed extremely well, generally speaking, and the contest was a lot more competitive this time around. There was a prize-giving ceremony at the end of the event and the 3 Sunday school teams took a group photo, just to re-emphasize the fact that this activity was both a tool of ministry and a means of cementing their bonds as sister churches.
May the Lord's Name be praised for all that was accomplished that afternoon.

Kabwata Baptist Church Vocational Bible School 2019!!

Kabwata Baptist Church Childrens Ministry successfully held the 2019 VBS on dates 14th-16th August 2019.

This year’s VBS was based on the theme “S***m and Gomorrah”.
It was Intended that by the end of VBS the children be able to:

✔ Narrate the whole story of S***m and Gomorrah.
✔ Appreciate that sin has consequences and the LORD punishes sin.
✔ See that through the Lord Jesus Christ, we can find forgiveness of sin.

Our Teachers focused on the passages :
Genesis 13:1-13 (Lot settles in S***m)
Genesis 18:1-33 (Abraham intercedes for S***m)
Genesis 19:1-38 (God destroys S***m).

The Children also enjoyed Fun Activities and Games that were lined up for them.
They also participated in Bible Quizzes aswell as Memorising of Scriptures. A good number of them were able to recite from memory! We thank God for that!

Join us in thanking God for the success of this Three Day Event, for his Faithfulness,Provision and Goodness towards the Childrens Ministry.
Also join us in praying for Fruit and that his word may continue being shared to the Children effectively and truthfully.

Join us in thanking God for the Two(2) days Childrens Conference that was held on 2nd and 3rd of March.
The conference was under the theme:
Missions! The Task Unfinished.
It went on very well and was successful.
DAY ONE of the Conference focused on ensuring that by the end of the lesson children could be able to:
✔Recognise a graphic picture or down- to- earth appreciation of what it means to follow Jesus Christ and become a missionary.
✔State in simple and plain terms what repentance means and to testify to the wonder of Christian conversion.
✔Understand the importance of missions and be encouraged to support missionaries
✔Have an appreciation of how to support missionaries by activities such as prayer, giving financially/ materially, visiting missionaries e.t.c
The main text was from: Mark 1 verse 17, 2 Peter 1 verse 3-4
DAY TWO of the Childrens Conference focused on ensuring that the children could be able to:
✔Have an appreciation for some of the challenges that Missionaries have in the missions field.
✔Have an appreciation of how to support missionaries by activities such as prayer, giving financially/ materially, visiting missionaries, e.t.c
✔Understand that they are never too young to support missions work. The main text was from : Philippians 4 vs 14- 20

We thank God for the oppotunity given to share the Gospel with all the Children that attended.

This Saturday, KBC will be hosting 2019 children's conference

Please do join us in thanking God, because four (4) days ago, on the 19th of January 2019, we as a ministry had our AGM. The meeting was well attended, and quite successful in light of what we had hoped to achieve from the onset. We reviewed the year 2018 and managed to elect a leadership team for the year 2019.
We pray for more of God's grace in the year ahead, as we try to look out for more ministry opportunities, and see how we can make the most out of them.

THE KBC INTER SUNDAY SCHOOL BIBLE QUIZ

Two days ago, on Saturday the 12th of January 2019, we as a children's ministry hosted an Inter Church Bible Quiz, for children 13 years and younger. The event was a great success, even though we were doing this for the first time. The Quiz had 4 Sunday School teams, namely; the Ibex Hill Baptist, Emmasdale Baptist, Crossway Baptist and Kabwata Baptist Sunday Schools. Each team comprised 6 children [ie. 4 on the panel and 2 on the bench] and 1 adult, who was their coach. The teams also came with friends and family to cheer them all the way.

The quiz was set with 5 categories, namely; the Bible Verse Contest, the Life of David, the Life of Samson, the Gospels and the 60 Second Dash. 3 points for every correct answer, 1 point for every fair attempt and 0 points for every incorrect response.

When the quiz finally came to an end, Emmasdale Baptist emerged victorious, with their team captain Grace Chiwala scooping the prize for "Most Outstanding Panelist". Ibex Hill Baptist came second, while Kabwata Baptist came in third place and Crossway Baptist in fourth. The children had so much fun, even though a few questions seemed a little too much for them.

For about 8 minutes, the children sat to listen to the preaching of God's word, as our brother Mwindula Mbewe preached on "The Cross and the Rainbow", from Genesis 9 and Colossians 2.

Thereafter, we proceeded to give the Trophy and prizes to the most outstanding team and individual, as well as consolation prizes to the other teams. It was an exciting event, and one that marked the end of our 2018 List of Planned Activities. We thank God for it, and generally for how He has used us throughout 2018 to reach children with the Gospel. Pray for us, as we have our AGM this coming Saturday.

Yesterday during Sunday School.

Aunt Mwaba took the Baby Class [ie. 3, 4 and 5 year olds] of our Sunday School, and apparently had a great time with them.
No prize for guessing what the lesson was, given the time of the year. You guessed right, it was "the birth of Christ"! Although she gave an account of Christ's birth, she particularly zeroed in on King Herod, and the level of wickedness he demonstrated in an attempt to destroy Jesus. She then likened this to every child who has not Christ within their hearts.
"No matter how young, innocent-looking or cute you might be, if you don't receive Christ in your life, just like Herod you too will perish!"

At the Children's Outing

Here, children are put into groups [each comprising 10] and are requested to send 3 of their brightest and most able minds, to represent them in a contest and the following are the rules;
- There are identical image puzzles on the tables
- Representatives of each team get one
- Moderator dismantles all images into separate piles [each team with its own pile]
- At the count of 3, all teams get cracking.
- First team to complete their image carries the day!😊
- The Prize? Cadbury Chocolate [Top Deck] for every member of the winning team! How about that?!

Children's ministry is a very unique ministry, because unlike other forms of ministry, we get to reach people at their most vulnerable and gullible stage of life; during their childhood. It is therefore, quite humbling to see how parents trust us with their children and allow us to lead them, to teach them and to basically leave a lasting imprint on their lives. Sunday school teachers often don't realise it, but we have a great privilege and responsibility to shepherd people's children, which therefore makes us just as accountable to the children's parents as we are to God Almighty.
