ITS PAINFUL
1 Samuel 1:1-18
I want to bring to your attention or remind you that in life it's painful when things are not going well.
It's painful when your neighbor or friend is doing well in business while you are not.
It's painful when all your friends are getting married while you there is not even a single one to propose to you.
It's painful when your friends are having children while you are not
It's painful when others are enjoying health while you are sickly every week.
It's painful when your neighbor is eating well while you are sleeping without food.
It's painful when others are doing well in ministry while you are struggling even to have 10 members.
The list goes on and on but let me bring to your knowledge that even Hannah went through the same pain you might be going through.
Listen to this:
I Samuel 1:2, 6-7 NKJV
[2] And he had two wives: the name of one was Hannah, and the name of the other Peninnah. Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children.
[6] And her rival also provoked her severely, to make her miserable, because the Lord had closed her womb. [7] So it was, year by year, when she went up to the house of the Lord, that she provoked her; therefore she wept and did not eat.
The bible says peninnah had children but Hannah had no children. Peninnah provoked Hannah severely. She was mocked, insulted, laughed at. She went through a lot and this happened year after year because of her barrenness. Imagine the pain she endured. The humiliation she experienced.
It's painful, it's painful, it's painful!!! She wept and wept, sometimes she even stayed without eating. The encouragement she received from the husband didn't make sense to her. It's painful!!!
But that's not all, there is one thing that turned Hannah's situation around in favor of her. And that is prayer. Say it 3 times : PRAYER!!! PRAYER!!! PRAYER!!!
Let me say prayer is the master key of whatever you are going through. Until Hannah had to pray things would not have changed to her. Imagine if she continued crying, complaining, feeling self- pity things would have remained the same until her death.
But she decided to do one thing and that is prayer.
Listen to this:
I Samuel 1:9-10 NKJV
[9] So Hannah arose after they had finished eating and drinking in Shiloh. Now Eli the priest was sitting on the seat by the doorpost of the tabernacle of the Lord. [10] And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed to the Lord and wept in anguish.
Hannah prayed, prayed, prayed , she continued praying until there was no voice to be heard. She looked like a drunked person.
Prayer changes things. It doesn't matter how hard or bad the situation is prayer Will turn it around in favor of you.
Let me say that pain you are feeling right now will go. You will smile once again. You will celebrate, you will testify to the glory of God in the name of Jesus Christ Amen and Amen.
