VERSE
Amos 5:14-15 (KJV) Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live: and so the LORD, the God of hosts, shall be with you, as ye have spoken.
Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish judgment in the gate: it may be that the LORD God of hosts will be gracious unto the remnant of Joseph.

INSPIRATION
How many evil things have been done in the name of God? It takes a huge ego to act as if it is our choice. The verse before this mentions how the prudent keep quiet in evil times. Sometimes the wisest words are the ones that we keep to ourselves. Look for the good in things, and if you aren’t certain what that is, the wise person would keep quiet.

PRAYER
Our God in Heaven, it is difficult to remember how little we understand. Help me realize Your ways and to keep quiet when I am unsure. Help me to see the good around me and choose my words wisely. With Your aid, my Lord, I feel that I can improve my understanding day by day. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Acts 5:29 (KJV) Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

INSPIRATION
When the commands of men, even of those in governmental or religious authority positions, conflict with the commands of God, we must obey God and not men. While Christians are supposed to submit to legitimate governmental authorities, they are instructed to practice "civil disobedience" if a law of man tells them to violate a law of God.

PRAYER
Lord, let us not be such as rebel against governments which you have ordained and pridefully say that we have no obligation to submit to man's laws. For there is no power but of God, and the powers that be are ordained of God (Romans 13). But let us also have courage to stand firm and resist if we are forced to choose between obeying you and obeying mere men. Amen

Romans 6:23 (KJV) For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

INSPIRATION
If we had been left to our own devices and our life of sin, we would have died and faced damnation. But because of what Jesus Christ did for us, we have eternal life. We have been saved from the flames and we have been brought into a glorious life of eternity.

PRAYER
Dear God, I thank you for my salvation. Thank you for saving me from a painful future ahead and replacing it with a life with you, forever. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

INSPIRATION
Jesus, the Word of God, was sent to earth as a baby to live as a man. He grew from a baby in the womb to the Savior on the cross. He lived among us, He ate with us, He healed us. By taking on flesh, He also took on our sins on the cross. His death on the cross is what granted us reconciliation with his father. May we never forget His sacrifice.

PRAYER
Dear God, You sent Your son to this fallen world to offer us atonement when we did not deserve it. Thank you for Your mercy and grace, O Lord. You sent the holy word down to our world full of sin to shine like a light in the darkness. Knowing we are children of God, may we live like Your Son, Jesus Christ. In His precious name, amen.

INSPIRATION

Barnabus was so trusted as to be sent by the Jerusalem Church to investigate the reports of Gentile converts in Antioch. He rejoiced in what he found God had done, and through him, many more were added to the Church. Barnabus was full of the Holy Spirit, meaning submissive to Him in his daily walk, which led to his being used greatly of God.

PRAYER

Use me, Lord, as you used Barnabus, to lead many to you, I pray. Help me submit to the Spirit's leading, which comes through your Word, that I may be ready to speak and act for you in every situation that arises. Amen

INSPIRATION
Christ resurrected, presents one of the most miraculous events in all of our Biblical history. It presents clearly for all followers, the path before us; life towards death, death followed by eternal life. For followers of Christ, life on earth is not the end, it is but the briefest of moments before everlasting peace and glory. In place of fear for death, with belief in Christ, our focus should be on preparing our souls for the world beyond, on embarking on a new journey that brings us closer to God.

PRAYER
Lord Almighty, You have raised the dead, and given the living hope. Through Your Son, I thank you for the ultimate sacrifice, and the debt paid unto us by His suffering. Help absolve my sins, to purge and clean my soul of all fear and malice, so it may be pure in Your embrace, and upon my entry into Your Heavenly Kingdom. In Your name I pray, Amen.

Ezekiel 7:23 (KJV) Make a chain: for the land is full of bloody crimes, and the city is full of violence.

INSPIRATION

Ezekiel preached the coming captivity of God's people, Israel, for the blood and violence in their land. For they were not all Israel who were called Israel (Romans 9:6), and the land was His, not theirs. They had forged their own chains by their continual rebellion against Jehovah, King of Israel.

PRAYER

O Lord, they were not all true Israel who were of the seed of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. And they are not all Your people who enter through the doors of a church building. We fear that time when "judgment must begin at the house of God," and we see apostasy rampant all around us. Keep us, O Lord, in Your truth. We pray for Your Church, and we know that none who belong to You will fall away from the faith, for they are "kept by the power of God. Amen

INSPIRATION

Life moves fast these days, and so often it is hard to simply comprehend how fortune we are, for our health, friends or family etc. It is hard perhaps to do this, seeing as so often these immeasurable or intangible goods, these gifts from the Lord are so often squandered or easily quantified into comparing it with others. Nothing ultimately, is to be purchased from feelings of superiority or feeling one satisfied with oneself since others may not have been so fortunate. Truly valuing God’s gifts requires appreciating things for themselves, for their own intrinsic goodness and benefit, not in how they might compare to others. For in doing the latter, we in fact close our hearts and eyes to truly appreciating what is most valuable to us.

PRAYER

In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost, I pray to thank thee for thy mercy and love, for giving me life. Give me strength and the insight to appreciate what I already have, whilst I pray for those without. Give me strength and the insight to value all You have given me, whilst I pray You to grant these gifts to others. In Your name I give thanks, and ask You to bestow Your grace upon all my sisters and brothers, in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost, Amen.

(INSPIRATION)
To have reverence of the Lord, God Almighty, truly is what is meant by “fearing God”. Having reverence for God makes us remember who He really is – the God who created everything, who knows all things, and is all mighty and all powerful. Having reverence for God will affect the decisions we choose to make, and the actions we take – we will not be quick to act in ways that are deceptive, destructive, or unwise.

(PRAYER)
Dear God, I pray that I never take your authority and your supremacy for granted; to do so, would be a terrible mistake on my part. Father, I thank you that with the assistance and guidance of the Holy Spirit, I will continue to revere you and uphold your sovereignty. May my life be an expression of my reverence towards you, Heavenly Father. In the name of Jesus’, I pray. Amen.

(INSPIRATION)
We should never forget that only God can be our refuge; He is our place of rest and security. There is no one we can put our trust in completely beside God. Only God has promised to keep us from the wiles of the enemy and see us through the challenges and temptations of life.

(PRAYER)
Dear God, I am grateful that I can find my rest in You. There is no one else and nothing else that can give me peace and protect me, the way You do, Father. Thank you for always being faithful in Your promises, Lord. I have every reason to put my trust in You and I will never forget that. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
