The greatest problem with many mentees is that they have spent more time studying fatherhood than sonship. You know how fathers ought to behave, what they should provide, how they should act; but you have not paid equal attention to what it means to be a son. Until you embrace sonship, you cannot truly appreciate fatherhood.
As the prophet Malachi mentions, God ties the survival of a generation to this relationship. If there is no restoration between fathers and sons, no honour flowing up and no care flowing down; the land itself suffers under a curse. That is how serious this covenant order is.
Don’t wait for your father to act first; turn your heart as a son. Don’t become an expert in judging fathers while remaining a stranger to sonship. When sons and fathers are reconciled, blessings flow. When that bond is broken, curses prevail. Choose sonship, because it is the key that unlocks fatherhood, and the shield that protects a nation.
