Your heart has eyes!
Ephesians 1:18: “I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people,”
Am sure we all have at one time or other read or even quoted this scripture but have we ever stopped to ask ourselves what it really means, what does eyes of your heart mean? So, what are the eyes of the heart? What do they look like and how do they see inside the chest? Can this be an error in translation? I don’t think so because there are other passages in the bible that talk about the eyes of the heart.
The eyes of the heart are so important that Apostle Paul prays that we allow light to flood our hearts so that it is enlightened, so that ignorance is removed and we know. When we know we gain mastery, we walk in the power of God with demonstration miracles signs and wonder.
So, what are the eyes of the heart. Eyes are organs used for sight, the two eyes on our heads help us to see what is going on all around us. Therefore, the Eyes of the heart help us to see what is going on inside. The heart stands for our predispositions, inclinations, traits, our intellect, mental recognition and recognition of spiritual truths. The heart also speaks of our thoughts, emotions, actions and desires, we feel, desire and act with our heart. The Bible tells us we that we imagine (Genesis 6:5) understand, (Mark 15:13), reason, (Mark 2:8) think, (Luke 9:47) believe, (Romans 10:9) and love (1Peter 1:22) with our hearts.
Blindness of the heart alienates us from God due to ignorance (Ephesians 4:18) therefore it is very important to have our hearts enlightened so that we are transformed in the way we think, reason, and act. When the eyes of our hearts are enlightened, we begin to understand why we are the way we are, what is responsible for our currents state, this will help us make meaningful changes of our lives. Therefore, we must strive to have our imagination, understanding, reasoning, thinking, beliefs and love flooded and enlightened by the word of God.

Where are you fighting from?

The eagle is one of the best birds to learn spiritual principles from. Here are some facts about the eagle.

Fact number 1. Although snakes love eating eggs, a snake can't or dares not eat eagles' eggs for two reasons. An eagle builds its nest out of reach of snakes by building the nest in any one of the following places. trees, snags, cliffs, and rock promontories. These places usually have a dominant view of the surrounding landscape that gives an eagles an advantage to see anything approaching way before it gets close.

Lessons 1. The security and safety of our children, our household depend on where we have built our physical and spiritual home . When we build on The Most High God, we are out of reach of that old snake Satan, and with the eyes of the spirit we can see that old serpent approaching. Our family is safe because we are dwelling under the shadow of the Almighty.

Fact number 2. Whenever the eagle has an altercation or a fight with a snake, the eagle emerges victorious because it is fighting from a vantage. Secondly the eagle will use its strong talons and sharp beak to kill. However an eagle chooses not to fight the snake on the ground. An eagle is disadvantaged on the ground, while a snake is powerful, wise and deadly on the ground.

Therefore an eagle changes it battle ground, using it strong, sharp talons, it picks up the snake flies as high as it can, taking the fight into the sky. At this height a snake loses its stamina, power and balance. It becomes helpless, weak and vulnerable. From that great height an eagle releases the snake and it drops dead.

Lesson 2. An Eagle have the advantage of height, weight, and power. Not only this, but it also has a strong senses that keep it out of danger, as well as eyesight being able to see for miles

Whether the fight is physical, carnal or spiritual, always choose your fights and the battle ground carefully. Take your fight to the heavenly place, allow, Christ to fight for you, do not depend on your natural sight, use the eyes of the spirit. It is only . In Christ Jesus you will be victorious.

Fact number 3. An eagle can not be harmed by the snake's venom due to its thick, hard, scale-like skin covering its legs. The skin protects the eagle from snake bites.

Lessons 3. Put on the full armour of God. Never go into battle in your own strength. Never fight with your own strength, let the armour of God protect you. In Christ Jesus we have the advantage of the full armour, as well as the name of Jesus, the blood of Jesus and the Holy Spirit to protect and fight for us.

If you are losing battles then you are fighting from a wrong position, wrong height, and without God's Armour. It also means you are fighting from ground, from a natural position. It is time to take the battle higher, take the battle into higher spiritual realms, in Christ Jesus.

If Jesus had lived in this day and age.

I am trying to imagine what it would have been like if Jesus or John the Baptist lived in our time
What would we have thought of a Prophet who wore camel skin, ate locust and wild honey? We would have concluded he was a cult leader, a false Prophet. How about Jesus, what would we have said about him? .
I was intrigued with the story of Jesus healing a man who was born blind. What label would we would have put on Jesus and this miracle and would have been all over social media? Mixing Saliva and mud and ask the blind man to go and wash in a dirty pool, who does that?

Then the media houses, the church leaders, and the community giving their analysis and opinions. In a quest to either authenticate or discredit Jesus and his miracles witness would have been called to give first hand account. In this case half the man's neighbours would say this was the same blind beggar who has been healed and the others would have said he was not the one but he resembled the blind man. Conclusion on this matter would have been, Fake miracle a look alike was brought to pass for the blind man! The religious leaders would also have said fake miracle because no genuine man of God heals on Sabbath! The religious leaders of the day would have issued statements, held press briefing to protect their sheep. Why? because what Jesus was doing had never been done before, He was using unorthodox method! . To drive the point, live interviews with the blind man, his parents and neighbors would be have been held. The answers by the man and parents would have annoyed the church leaders, warranting excommunication to serve as warning to other church members who would want to follow this man. These church leaders did not care that a man born blind, who suffered for year as beggar was made whole, what they cared most about was keeping the Sabbath even if people remained in bo***ge. In all this drama Jesus would not be given a chance to tell his side.

The rest of us would have taken to social media to give our opinion based on heresay forgetting Proverbs 18:17 that says
"The one who states his case first seems right, until the other comes and examines him." (ESV)

The Bible was written for teaching, correction, warning and for our example, that we may learn and avoid making the same mistakes that others made. Before saying anything, or writing anything, stop and think, remember that God will judge every single word that we would have spoken while on earth. The thought of a record of every word ever spoken is kept safely in heaven should be sobering

An eagle's predators

Generally adult eagles in their prime do not have predators because of their position at the top of the food chain, they are are apex predators. Nothing within their ecosystem has the skill or power to take a healthy adult eagle down. But if it is injured or old, then this changes. Fox and wolf in desperation may try and rush a feeding eagle but they will get the eagle’s kill. An eagle in its prime is likely to survive well with enough food resources in its territory. But, there may come a time when food is scarce, and eagles become weak and injured. A struggling eagle on a riverbank can become a target of larger predators.

Humans are one of the most significant threats to eagle populations. They endangered eagle populations, whether through shooting or pesticide use.

Young birds are not as safe as the adults. They are more vulnerable to attack, especially for those that aren’t nesting in trees. Young eagles often don’t have the power or flight skills to defend themselves from attack. Depending on the chick’s size, other birds such as owls and hawks may come and take a chick. Young eagles may have talons and a sharp beak, that will not do much when a determined predator decides to take them out.

Young eagles might assume that they are perfectly safe up in trees, unfortunately they are not, arboreal creatures like bears and raccoons can climb up and take advantage of an easy meal.

Drawing a parallel, a child of God is only safe if they remain in Christ, regardless of the state, age or circumstances they may be going through. When we remain in Christ we are seated with him in heavenly places then we are at the top of the chain, nothing has the skill, the power to take us down, nothing by all means will hurt us. Demon witches etc may try, in Christ Jesus they will fail miserably

It becomes our responsibility to defend and protect young eagles while we teach them how to fly.

An Eagle agle molts to renew itself.

The story of how an eagle renews itself has been told even preached. It goes like this, due to various circumstances, age, storms, battle, eagles feathers get broken, the beak and claws overgrown such that an eagle can not catch prey or eat anymore. It is said the eagle finds a quiet place by a stream where it will pluck all it feathers, break its claws and break its beak remain there for week until it grows new ones. During this time an eagle can't fly, can eat, it is weak and vulnerable. It remains in this secluded place for weeks or months, only drinking water, till it grows new feathers, beak and claws. A parallel is often drawn between an eagle and a Christian's life.

However, a number of scientists have disputed this story saying it is not true, it is a myth. On the other hand scientists agreed that an eagle like most birds go through a period of molting. And that a powerful eagle's survival is linked to its plumage, as its feathers function to insulate, protect, transport, and identify it, therefore molting is a necessary process.

Molting for an eagle begins at age four or five. An eagle molts every year for the duration of its life span of 30 years plus. An eagles may descend for a molt, usually to a safe refuge in a hidden low place on the forest floor, or in the cleft of a rock, or crevice. During molting it will lose all of its plumage, or feathers in patches starting from the head. The feathers are shed in pairs to sustain balance. The shedding and regrowth process take on average 6 weeks.

Some cycles of the molt render an eagle very weak. Most cannot fly or hunt because they have lost vital primary and secondary feathers and it takes a great deal of energy and body resources to grow feathers. An eagle uses the energy stored in fat to grow feather. At this stage in time, an eagles is in greatest danger, it is unable to fight disease or stress, in this weakened state, it is also in danger from predators and the elements of nature.

Interestingly, some experts report that an eagle loses the ability to produce tears, which diminishes its sharp vision. It is also said that calcium accumulates on its beaks, further hindering the eagles ability to survive.

At some stage of the molting process, an eagle especially mature ones lose "meat" to replenish energy. Eventually, the eagle gains enough energy/ strength to fly to a mountain or a high place and to beat or scrape its beak against a rock to break off the calcium. With renewed strength, the eagle soars against the wind to stimulate the flow of tears,. Once vision restored; an eagle flies higher and faster than ever.

Whichever version of the story you want to believe, it comes to the same thing, , every eagle goes through a molting process which every Christian needs to go through. You have a choice of sitting by the streams of living water, drinking the Word of God, allowing the Holy Spirit point out to you area of your life you need to break or cut off and regrow. Allowing the Holy Spirit cleanse your sight and vision to see more clearly, to receive new insights and revelation.

Unfortunately some eagles do not make it through to the end of the molt; others do not endure through the regrowth, those that do bear the process of transformation, rise again, stronger than ever before, their youth renewed, and they soar into higher realms than before.

What shall it be in 2024?

Seeing and hearing.

The eyes of an eagle are very sharp, powerful, and can see from afar just as its ears can pick up sounds from afar. Certain eagles are able to hear up to 8 kilometers away. An eagle has perfect hearing and listening capability.

However an eagle relies more on its eyes than its ears. An eagle uses what it has seen to analyse more accurately what it is hearing. In comparison to the eyes, the ears of an eagle are not as powerful, even though they are more powerful than the ears of most humans.

The ears of an eagle are covered with feathers, which makes them difficult for people to see. This is the reason why some people have often assumed that an eagle can’t hear. Feathers also serve as the filter to the ears, these tiny feathers help the eagle in filtering out the sounds, so as to be able to identify what it is hearing.

In the same way, as there is a correlation between what an eagle sees and hears, there is also a correlation between what we can see and hear in the spirit. God has endowed us with the ability to see and hear clearly from Him, when we tune in to the Holy Spirit.

Therefore we need to invest in paying attention to what see, hear and reading in the scripture .
We need to hold on to what is written more than what is said, because what is written is more reliable than what we hear. The issue here is that the realm of the spirit is pronged to being manipulated by the devil; because he is a spirit being also, who has the ability to falsify spiritual truth, in order to deceive the people of God. In fact, the scripture warned us about this, it tells us that he masquerades as an angel of light, like a roaring lion. Therefore comprehension of the things of the spirit requires a very accurate understanding of the written word of God. .

It is our responsibility in the coming year to pray daily for the understanding of spiritual truth, allowing God through His Spirit to reveal truth to us. While praying will help us in searching out spiritual truth, the written word of God will establish us in such truth. In other words, we need our spiritual eyes of understanding to be able to see through the scriptures as well as our listening ear of the spirit to help us in knowing the mind of the Father.

Additionally, we shall need filters that will help us to filter out what we see and hear . The devil is very good at disrupting or distorting what a Child of God is listening to from the Lord.
As we read the Word and pray in the Spirit our spirit man will be able to grasp the mind of God and connect us to spirituald. God’s written word connects us with spiritual realities. Faith in God’s word or promises helps us to stay connected with God by faith.

Christian who takes the eyes and ears away from God’s word will be lost in the spiritual world. We have to ensure that our spiritual eyes and ears are sharp in order not to miss out on spiritual truths, as to be able to soar higher in God’s purpose on a daily basis.

Vision our great asset

An Eagle uses its great vision to know when to fly in to capture its prey. Eyes are a great asset to an eagle. An eagle does not approach any object that it has not seen or spotted from afar. Therefore, an eagle with an eye or vision problem will have difficulties hunting for its preys. In many instances such an eagle will starve to death.

An eagle is a visionary birds, thus it does not venture into anything that is unachievable.

Similarly a Christian who has so much potential and zeal but does not have a vision and plan will perish for lack of wisdom, even though he or she is very knowledgeable about the scriptures.

In the coming year let us be so visionary that we does not venture into anything that is unachievable.lWe, tneed to have strong and tangible visions about our lives, our service to God. The absence of a vision will result in our inability to seek God in prayer, because we have no plans to commit to God. We need to come up with strong personal vision, rather than to just have desires and resolutions.

The description of the characteristics and activities of an eagle should challenge us to seek God who created the eagle.

An eagle is a bird with great foresight, it has a foreknowledge of things before they happen. It is patient and it has the ability to spy on its prey before going after it .

When adverse or unusual circumstances arise, we should not looking at them as they seemed to appear because there are many things we do not know about the situation. Instead, we should with the help of the Holy Spirit we ought to searches out a thing before it even happens. As Christian, you are capable of seeing things in the spirit before they happen. The Holy Spirit lives in us so as to reveal all things to us.

Visionaries don’t look at spiritual matters from the surface, neither do they use natural eyes. They make it their responsibility to search them out, search out scripture so as to discover what is really behind what they are looking at. By praying in the spirit or in other tongues they are able to search out the mind of God and find answers. Our spirit man cries out to God in our heavenly language, which the enemy does not understand as we are praying.

Meditation on God’s promises is a unique way by which we discover, what was going on in the realm of the spirit concerning our situation.

Vision is not only defined as the ability to see but is is also the ability to think about or plan the future with imagination or wisdom.
To be able to soar like an eagle requires have the eye of an eagle.
Eagles have visual acuity far superior to most animals, including humans

The two fovea in the retina produces the sharpest image. It has five times more sensory cells than a human being, gives it the ability to see sharply and helps it focus on its prey even while it is still high up in the air. It estimated that an eagle can see prey when it is in the air at height of 198 meters, and 3km far ahead.
The eagle has three eyelids, the third inner eyelid is known as the nictitating membranes. This eyelid is thin, translucent and acts like a windshield wiper, sweeping across the bird's eye from side to side. It automatically slides across the eye every three to four seconds, keeping debris from being lodged in the sensitive tissue. The nictitating membrane can be closed for protection without affecting the eagle's vision. Eagles voluntarily dilate and constrict their pupils, change the curvature of the cornea as way of focusing near and far.

Eagles sees further into the red range at one end of the color spectrum, and all the way into the ultraviolet range at the other side. The eagles eye has droplets of oil dispersed into the cone photoreceptors in hues that filter and enhance color. These oil droplets intercept light, modifying its intensity and spectrum, to protect the eyes from free-radical damage. Eagles see colors more vivid than we do, they can discriminate more between shades.l hence allowing an eagle to see an absolutely beautiful world.

What can learn from an eagle's ability to see? .
In the coming year we need to intentionally and deliberately depending on the Holy Spirit. As we gilded and soar through the storms, we should close our natural eyes and leave the eyes of the Spirit open. Using the eye of the Spirit what we will see will be totally different from what the world sees. To soar high we have no choice but put away people, things that would distract us, have intense focus on purpose. There will be times when we will have to flying alone.
When our focus is on God and not the storm, we will see the beauty, the majesty and splendour of our God.

To soar on wings of an eagle
A well seasoned experienced pilot explained how an eagle flies. He said that eagles must face into the wind to experience lift. The air currents flow over and under their uniquely formed wings, creating an air pressure difference. As the higher pressure below tries to equalize the lower above, the gliding bird is lifted up. Gradually, though, the eagle will lose altitude, forcing it to land, if not for the added boost of rising air currents, such as warm air and updrafts, or increased wind. When assisted by these air currents or winds, a gliding eagle can then soar. The Eagle is the only bird that embraces the turbulence to push itself higher, when other birds flee from the weather. That means eagles fly nearly as high as commercial jetliners, and that is also without the benefit of a pressurized cabin or supplemental oxygen.

An eagle flies alone, hunt independently, yet it IA a social animal. It flies alone to avoid distraction from the other eagles due to the noise and the movement around, for which they can miss the target. They concentrate on every move and sound made by their prey for a perfect attack that cannot be done in a group.

If we do not learn from an eagle to separate ourselves from the distraction of family, friends colleagues we will be distracted. And if we do not allow the Holy Spirit for that lift, upthrust,, we shall remain on the ground defeat beaten by the storms of life. Success, victory in the coming year will depend on us choosing to be led by the Holy Spirit, the storm will not kill us. The Holy Spirit will regulate the storm, He will use the very storms to lift us higher until the turbulence, the rain, and the wind, all these will remain beneath us.

2024 Soar as an Eagle

Eagles do not fly, they soar. According to the dictionary definition to soar is:
*To maintain height in the air without flapping wings or using engine power [Oxford]
*To rise or increase dramatically (as in position, value, or price) [Merriam-Webster]
*To rise very quickly to a high level [Cambridge]

Eagles are considered as kings amongst the birds, they are at the top of the food chain in the bird (avian) world. There different species of eagles but generally eagles are incredibly strong and powerful and have very long lifespans. It is a fact that eagles soar to very great heights, over long distances,. Generally eagles soar alone, (generally solitary) making it to the top.

Eagles are able to soar and glide with minimal energy expended because they work with the wind under their wings and they let the wind carry them, which in turn allows them to stay at great heights for longer periods of time than any other bird.

Similarly , in 2024, as Eagles , we should learn to align with God and go with the flow of the Holy Spirit, allowing God carry to us higher and for longer. This we will only do when we draw our strength from God.
God requires us to relax in Him and trust that He knows what He is doing. We need to trust God completely, trust His word, His ability, and His character. We should also align our plans to His plan for our lives and stop worrying about sustaince. When we allow God's plan for our lives over our plans, God brings along His resources and He will do the implementation.

In 2024 we can be incredibly strong and powerful, on top of our food chain when you allow the wind of the Holy Spirit lift us. We can also expect to rise quickly and dramatically to higher positions, levels heights and higher value without expending energy. And the wind of the Holy Spirit will maintaining these levels
