Your heart has eyes!
Ephesians 1:18: “I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people,”
Am sure we all have at one time or other read or even quoted this scripture but have we ever stopped to ask ourselves what it really means, what does eyes of your heart mean? So, what are the eyes of the heart? What do they look like and how do they see inside the chest? Can this be an error in translation? I don’t think so because there are other passages in the bible that talk about the eyes of the heart.
The eyes of the heart are so important that Apostle Paul prays that we allow light to flood our hearts so that it is enlightened, so that ignorance is removed and we know. When we know we gain mastery, we walk in the power of God with demonstration miracles signs and wonder.
So, what are the eyes of the heart. Eyes are organs used for sight, the two eyes on our heads help us to see what is going on all around us. Therefore, the Eyes of the heart help us to see what is going on inside. The heart stands for our predispositions, inclinations, traits, our intellect, mental recognition and recognition of spiritual truths. The heart also speaks of our thoughts, emotions, actions and desires, we feel, desire and act with our heart. The Bible tells us we that we imagine (Genesis 6:5) understand, (Mark 15:13), reason, (Mark 2:8) think, (Luke 9:47) believe, (Romans 10:9) and love (1Peter 1:22) with our hearts.
Blindness of the heart alienates us from God due to ignorance (Ephesians 4:18) therefore it is very important to have our hearts enlightened so that we are transformed in the way we think, reason, and act. When the eyes of our hearts are enlightened, we begin to understand why we are the way we are, what is responsible for our currents state, this will help us make meaningful changes of our lives. Therefore, we must strive to have our imagination, understanding, reasoning, thinking, beliefs and love flooded and enlightened by the word of God.
