VERSE
2 Corinthians 3:6 (KJV) Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

INSPIRATION
The passage in Corinthians concerns ‘the letter’ of the law (as originally inscribed in Judaism), in contrast to God’s divine moral order. Even today, acts that are technically lawful may be abhorrent or have sinful consequences. What’s more, laws change with regimes or the march of history; what many found acceptable in one generation, may be considered unjust by another. Thus, whilst our law and the letters inscribed thereupon may serve its purpose in regulating society, as devotees of the word of God, they are not sufficient. Serving society as a lawful citizen may be noble, but it is in the last judgment inferior to devoting ones spirit to God’s everlasting truth in Testament.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, above and beyond the earthly letters of men, blessed are we to have received Your word and grace. Teach us to walk in Your holy path of rectitude, as our ultimate Father in everlasting life. Ensure that our devotion is first and foremost to You, O Lord, to whose ultimate justice we submit our spirit. Allow us to animate Your moral order, and show us mercy. All this, in your name. Amen.

VERSE
Acts 1:14 (KJV) These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.

INSPIRATION
Prayer was the bond that kept the apostles and the believers of the Early Church together. They spent much time praying in one another’s houses – praying for strength and encouragement to remain steadfast in their faith in Christ. Prayer is the same bond that will keep families, marriages, families, and churches together. We cannot afford to take prayer for granted in our communal lives as believers.

PRAYER
Dear God, I thank you that we can access you in prayer at all times. Father I pray that I will never neglect the importance of prayer in my life. We know that it is through prayer we remain strengthened and we are able to refresh our union in you. May it remain this way, O Lord. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

VERSE

Romans 14:1 (KJV) Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations.

INSPIRATION

To those newly admitted to our faith, we should give extra attention and care to. Like a new hatchling, they require nurturing, instruction and help. We do this not only because it is our duty, but because we would hope the same welcoming hand would be extended to us if it were the other way around. Soon, they will be able to fly by themselves. And who knows, maybe they would end up soaring to the highest of heights? What better way to please God than to have had a hand in having helped another reach the Promised Land?

PRAYER

My Lord, grant me the guidance and patience You have shown me to those who are only now hearing Your name and wish to know Your truth. Grant me patience and care, so that I may help serve You by serving them. For my wish is only to please You my Lord, and do your work by helping bring Your children into the light. Amen

VERSE
John 1:12 (KJV) But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

INSPIRATION
It is through Jesus Christ that we have been qualified as children of God. When we believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, who did all of this so that we could be saved, we are accepting the new life He has given us. This is a life of redemption; a life as sons and daughters of God, whom we became separated from after the Fall of man. We have now come into a life of righteousness and holiness.

PRAYER
Thank you, Lord, for setting me free from the sin power had over my life. I have chosen to leave my old, sinful self and I am fully focused on walking in the life of righteousness and holiness you have called me to live through your Son. Thank you, Father, that you are always there to reinforce my faith when anyone tries to tell me otherwise. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

VERSE

John 1:11 (KJV) He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

INSPIRATION

Jesus tried to minister to the people in his town, but they rejected that he was the son of God. They only saw him as the son of a carpenter. There are many other Jews, who were referred to as God’s own, who rejected Jesus Christ as the son of God, too. This is how Jesus ended up being crucified. But this did not deter Christ from His mission. He held nothing against anyone who rejected them. He forgave them and prayed that they would be saved.

PRAYER

Dear God, I thank you for your son, Jesus Christ, who loved us so much, he did not hold it against any man when they wronged Him. Lord, I pray that I can exemplify this kind of love in my life too. I cannot do that without your help, Lord. May you help me to follow the example your son set for me, Lord. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

VERSE

Luke 1:30-33 (KJV) And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.
And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.
He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:
And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

INSPIRATION

Talk about pressure! Mary was a virgin and having an unplanned son and has to explain her pregnancy to a husband that will have to believe this fantastic tale. On top of that, he is God incarnate and will rule the Kingdom of David forever! We know how this story goes and are forever indebted to Mary and Joseph for handling this tremendous responsibility with such grace and care. God chose them for a reason, and we can all rejoice that He chose them!

PRAYER

It is better to say nothing than to open our mouths and sin with our words. The more we talk, the more likely we are to say something amiss. The tongue is often the instrument of sin. Better to let our words be few, or to think before we speak. Better to weigh our thoughts before we make them spoken words. Amen

(VERSE)
Romans 8:38-39 (KJV) For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

(INSPIRATION)
There is absolutely nothing that can separate us from the love of God, and it is written clearly in these verses. No matter how the devil may try to pry us from the Father’s hands, He can never come close to it. There is no man, no force, no devil that can separate us from the love of God. When we wander, God will always call out to us. When we return, He embraces us wholeheartedly. Dear Christian, embrace the fact that God’s love is always with you and nothing will ever change that.

(PRAYER)
Dear God, I thank you for the eternal nature of Your love for me. Lord, there are many forces that try to pull me away from You but I have decided not to budge. Thank you for assuring me, time and time again, Lord, that Your love is never going anywhere. It is with me, forever. Thank you, Father. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

(VERSE
Galatians 6:2 (KJV) Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

(INSPIRATION)
In verse 5 of this same chapter it says "Every man shall bear his own burden." But there is no contradiction here when it says in verse 3 "Bear one another's burdens." Our attitude should be one of striving to take care of our own business and not casting a burden on another, even while we ourselves are willing to reach out and bear the burdens of those too weak to bear their own.

(PRAYER)
Strengthen us, Lord, to bear our own burdens. If we are weak, and you send others to help, let us be thankful. If we can help those too weak to bear their own burdens, let us also be thankful, for it is more blessed to give than to receive. Amen.
