Numbers 20:8
"Take the staff. Assemble the community, you and your brother Aaron. Speak to that rock that's right in front of them and it will give water. You will bring water out of the rock for them; congregation and cattle will both drink."
This was a time when the Israelites had come to a wilderness called Zin and they stayed in a place called Kadesh.
But this place however had no water so they ganged up on Moses and Aaron and complained bitterly about their God and how they feel it was better to have remained in Egypt because there was water there.
So Moses and Aaron went into the presence of God to cry to their God and He gave them an instruction to speak to the rock and it would give them water.
But in verse 11 we see that Moses did not follow the instruction of God. Instead of him speaking to the rock as God instructed, he slammed it twice and of-course water gushed out.
This shows us that having results in ministry doesn’t always mean someone is obedient to the voice of God. Some people only obey a part of God’s instruction and disobey the rest.
In this case Moses obeyed the part where God asked he and Aaron to gather the people around the rock but disobeyed the rest of the instruction. In verse twelve we even see that God tells Moses that “You’ll not enter the promised land because you have disobeyed me.”
Family, I know there are things that the Lord has spoken over you. There are promises that the Lord has given you. Some of you He said that He’ll give you financial increase and rest. But you’ll only enter that place if you remain obedient to His instructions/His word.
I know temptations may come here and there to drift you from His will, just hold on a little bit more, your obedience will surely make enter the promised land.
I call you blessed
