DEVOTION
Having a powerful ally to support us can bring great comfort and freedom. Making tough decisions to provide for ourselves and our families can be daunting, but with the right guidance, we can make sure our choices are wise and beneficial now and in the future.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your ability to soothe every storm in my life. I pray for Your guidance and solutions to the difficulties I'm currently facing. May Your strength be with me so I can find solace in You. Amen.

VERSE
John 6:35 (KJV) And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

INSPIRATION
Sustenance for the righteous involves much more than physical food and drink. The realms of the spirit, once having apprehended Christ, creates an invincible and unalterable assent, which cannot be shaken out of the soul. Perhaps more fundamentally, earthy sustenance such as food requires constant replenishment. Hunger and thirst will always stalk us. Spiritual nourishment, however, as this verse in John suggests, never completely depletes; put our faith in the Lord, we will never again thirst, but only attain greater fulfillment.

PRAYER
In the name of Your Son upon the cross, permit me to drink and feed from the Testament of my Lord, my only sustenance and salvation. Permit me Christ Almighty, to eat from Your word, and drink from Your truth, so that my spirit be filled with love and light, overflowing. In Your grace and compassion, I ask to receive Your sacrament. Amen.

VERSE

Proverbs 11:4 (KJV) Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death.

INSPIRATION

Many may heap up earthly treasures and trust in them to deliver them, but even with mere men, money cannot always avail. Not all judges will take a bribe, and no gift will pacify those who have been deeply offended and severely misused. How much less can money avail anything at all on the day of God's holy wrath!

PRAYER

Lord, though a man gain all the money in the world, he could not buy salvation from you. Your anger against sin cannot be appeased by any riches that men might try to offer, and the offer itself would insult your holiness. Nor can good works, long prayers, or self-affliction avail anything. It is only the blood of your Son Jesus Christ that can quench the fire of your wrath. In that alone I ever trust. Amen

John 1:11 (KJV) He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

INSPIRATION
Jesus tried to minister to the people in his town, but they rejected that he was the son of God. They only saw him as the son of a carpenter. There are many other Jews, who were referred to as God’s own, who rejected Jesus Christ as the son of God, too. This is how Jesus ended up being crucified. But this did not deter Christ from His mission. He held nothing against anyone who rejected them. He forgave them and prayed that they would be saved.

PRAYER
Dear God, I thank you for your son, Jesus Christ, who loved us so much, he did not hold it against any man when they wronged Him. Lord, I pray that I can exemplify this kind of love in my life too. I cannot do that without your help, Lord. May you help me to follow the example your son set for me, Lord. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Romans 5:10 (KJV) For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

(INSPIRATION)
If someone is actively working against you, it is difficult to accomplish anything that you want to. Now imagine that person starts working with you. You can accomplish so much, much more than if you were simply working alone. Our relationship with God is the same: we were His enemies before He mercifully sent His son to guide us. Now we have the option of being on the same side. The choice is simple.

(PRAYER)
Loving God, my strength and light in the world, I rejoice in Your love. With this prayer I hope to thank you for sending Jesus to live and die for us, for we would truly be lost without him. Give me the wisdom to follow You more closely, love more dearly, and trust everything else to You. In your name I pray, Amen.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (KJV) Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;
Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

(INSPIRATION)
When we go through trials and tribulations, the comfort that we receive from God isn’t just for us alone. After enduring tough situations, we are able to testify God’s goodness in such moments, and in those moments, we are able to reach out and encourage those who go through trials similar to us. God’s comfort overflows in us and pours out onto those that we have an opportunity to lead and counsel.

(PRAYER)
Dear God, I am grateful for Your mercies and Your comfort that keep me going in times of great trials and tribulations. I know that Your comfort won’t just minister to me but to everyone else I come into contact with, who may be experiencing a situation I have overcome. I thank you, Lord, that in such times I will be able to reach out to them and minister effectively. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Hebrews 11:16 (KJV) But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.

(INSPIRATION)
We who belong to the LORD are content to dwell in an earthly country for a time according to God's will. But we are ultimately satisfied with the things of the world. We must seek Heavenly things, setting our affections on the things of God. We look for a Heavenly country and that city "not made with hands" but built by God Himself for His people.

(PRAYER)
You, Lord God, have prepared for us a city to dwell in that will not pass away. You will dwell with us as our God, and we as Your people, on the new earth for all eternity. Let us not be consumed and controlled by any earthly hope. Give us perspective on our lives that we might know which things are most important in the light of our future home and of the fact that this world is passing away. Amen

Matthew 7:2 (KJV) For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

(INSPIRATION)
Though Jesus uses this same phrase differently in another passage, here He speaks of us being judged by the standards by which we judge others. He warns us here that we will not "get away with" hypocrisy and an overly harsh and judgmental spirit.

(PRAYER)
O God, we know we are to be discerning and unafraid to speak the truth, be teach us also to speak it in love. Keep us from a judgmental, self-righteous attitude. Help us to guard ourselves against wrongfully judging others. Remind us that men give not account to us, but to you. Amen.
