Title: SAVED BY BROKEN PIECES
The sermon, “Saved by Broken Pieces,” is based on Acts 27:44, where Paul and everyone aboard the ship survived the storm by reaching land on planks and broken pieces of the ship. The message reminds us that even when everything appears to be falling apart, God can use the broken pieces to bring about our salvation and deliverance.
Paul’s journey demonstrates that choosing to serve God does not mean a life without trouble. As Paul travelled toward Rome, a violent storm struck the ship, creating fear and uncertainty. Yet God assured Paul that although the ship would be destroyed, no life would be lost. This teaches us that God’s promises remain true even when our circumstances seem to contradict them. We may face sickness, rejection, family problems, financial difficulties, or other storms, but we must learn to listen to God’s voice rather than the noise of the storm.
The striking lesson is that the ship had to break for the people to survive. If they had remained dependent on the whole ship, they would have sunk with it. Instead, each person held onto a piece of the broken ship and used it to reach safety. Sometimes God allows things we depend on to break not to destroy us, but to redirect us toward Him and provide another means of deliverance.
The broken ship also points to the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Christ was wounded, beaten, and crucified so that humanity could receive salvation. In this sense, brokenness became the pathway to salvation. What looked like defeat at the cross became the greatest victory for humanity.
The sermon therefore encourages us not to despair when things fall apart. Your broken pieces can still carry you to safety. What appears to be the end may become the very instrument God uses to deliver you. Like Paul and the people on the ship, we may lose the ship, but we do not have to lose our lives. God can save us even through the broken pieces.
