SHOSHOLOZA FOR EVERY CHRISTIAN: ACQUISITION OF WISDOM IN DUE SEASON
I am compelled to state that history has taught us that in every human is entrenched the desire to seek the best of what life can offer. No matter the situation, man's choice is skewed towards what can provide immediate, maximum benefit. Due to our general relactance in appropriately responsding to foretold signs as they unfold before us, I draw your attention to Lot's bae and the destruction of Jerusalem. The reasons for Mrs Lot's glance back at S***m, and the relactance to leave Jerusalem by her inhabitants constitute the main reason for presenting this thought, which we could extrapolate to the time in which we are living. We are as much as they were not convinced that the best was to leave their zones of comfort to uncertain destinations.
Moving a bit forward to a few years along the historic line, the chosen nation's response to foretold signs concerning the destruction of Jerusalem was not out of sync with this reality under discussion. Many, despite knowing the signs, were too weary of acquiring earthly gains than fleeing for their lives.
The city was besieged by Roman soldiers, precisely according to their Matchmaker's prophecy. Despite remembering the prophecy, most of the Jews continued with their relentless precision in the pursuit of their daily gains. When Roman soldiers retreated, in line with Devine provision, many never saw a chance to flee but flattered themselves into thinking their army (Jewish) was dreaded due to the strength it had acquired. They thought their nation was invincible and, as a result, forgot the tears that fell down His cheeks to the rocks of mount Olive 70 years before the time.
As the faithful began to depart, some who remained behind began to eye socioeconomic privileges/opportunities that were created. When some sought employment, others sought better pay. When some sought establishment in their newly acquired jobs, others sought promotions. Overcome by the desire to stay on and taste marriage life were those who had, just before marriage, overcontemplated the beauty of marriage life to an extent that they placed more value on marriage than anything else. To some, their desire to flee was quenched by the uncertainty of the life they were to live in exile; they had no drive to leave their comfort zone.
Foolish in the sight of those that remained behind were all who fled in compliance with their Matchmaker's sermon on the mount. They branded them hysterical and unwise.
When the time came, an order went forth to have all Jews placed under Roman subjugation. The destruction was brutal. The Jewish blood, of all who ignored the chance to flee Jerusalem but chose to seek refuge in the temple when they saw the Romans arrive with unquenchable determination to slay, flowed down through the door of the temple's main entrance like a rain invigorated stream.
The rest is history, but my message to every Adventist and non-Adventist Christian of the moment is simple: They became wise when it was too late. What goes around, comes around. Cities have been besieged before, the global reset is in progress. What signs are we yet to see to decide to leave major cities? May be I am one of the noise makers around with a drive to spread hysteria. I pray that it never gets too late for us to realise and act wisely.
The material above is drawn from lessons in Genesis, Mathew and the Great Controversy, on S***m and Gomorrah, Sermon on the mount and the destruction of Jerusalem, respectively. As it was, so is it happening. May your Matchmaker bless you for spending time to read this article.
